Chapter 113: Training Turmoil and
The atmosphere in the training hall grew more solemn day by day.
"Center of gravity! I've said it how many times, the center of gravity must be on the mechanical hip joint!" Wang Hao shouted, his veins bulging as he yelled at the trainee in the simulation pod.
"Do you think this is ballet? Still standing on your tiptoes!"
Lieutenant Xu from the Air Force adjusted the controls in a panic, and as a result, the "Jing-An" mech stumbled and fell to the ground.
This was the seventh time he had fallen today.
"Director Wang, this really can't be blamed on me." Lieutenant Xu climbed out of the simulation pod, his face full of grievance.
"When I fly the J-20, pushing the stick is a dive, and pulling the stick is a climb."
"But this mech... every joint has to be controlled individually; I really can't keep up!"
Next to him, Squad Leader Zhang, who came from the tank unit, also had a troubled face: "Yeah, my brain still has to calculate ballistics; how can I worry about my feet?"
For three consecutive days, the training progress was despairingly slow.
Even the best trainees could only manage to make the mech walk staggeringly; slightly more complex tactical movements would trigger all sorts of bizarre accidents.
There were mechs that tripped themselves, mechs whose left and right legs fought each other, and in the most outrageous incident, two mechs actually started dancing a ballroom dance during collaborative training.
"I give up!" Wang Hao slumped on the bench in the rest area, feeling hopeless.
"Teaching this bunch of geniuses is more tiring than teaching a recruit company! Recruits are at least obedient; this bunch of elite soldiers all have eight hundred schemes in their heads!"
Li Yang silently pulled up the training data, his brows locked: "At this rate, no more than ten people will pass the basic assessment in three months."
Even Zhao Gong, who was always steady, couldn't watch anymore: "These kids are all top-notch in their respective fields, but with new equipment, they're like babies learning to walk."
"Training like this is not a solution."
Just as everyone was at their wit's end, Chen Guang quietly approached with a tablet computer.
"I have an idea." He pushed up his glasses.
"We can let 'Torch Dragon' intervene in the training."
The rest area went quiet instantly.
Wang Hao was the first to jump up: "What? Let that iron lump be an instructor?"
Chen Guang pulled up a set of data: "'Torch Dragon' can analyze each trainee's operation data in real-time and generate personalized training programs."
"For example, Lieutenant Xu's problem lies in over-reliance on pitch control; the system can design a ground maneuver training module specifically for him."
Li Yang was thoughtful: "Theoretically feasible."
"'Torch Dragon' has already accumulated thousands of hours of mech operation data; it really does understand every operation detail better than we do."
"I object!" Instructor Liu, who was in charge of basic training, stood up abruptly.
"What does a machine know about teaching? Training requires personal instruction!"
"You have to adjust methods according to the trainee's state at any time; that requires experience!"
Wang Hao also scratched his head: "Guangzi, it's not that I don't believe you."
"But this bunch of thorns already has resistance to AI; if we bring in a machine instructor, I'm afraid they'll rebel!"
Just as the argument was endless, a commotion came from the training hall entrance.
Everyone turned to look and saw Lieutenant Xu arguing fiercely with several pilot trainees.
"I don't believe it! Let me try again!" Lieutenant Xu was full of defiance and climbed into the simulation pod.
Chen Guang narrowed his eyes, his fingers sliding quickly on the tablet: "Then let him be the first to try."
Inside the simulation pod, as soon as Lieutenant Xu put on the sensors, he heard a calm electronic voice ring in his ears:
"Trainee 017 detected, identified as a fixed-wing pilot transitioning. Loading exclusive training program."
Lieutenant Xu was stunned: "What the hell?"
"First, please forget about pulling and pushing the stick." The electronic voice continued.
"Imagine your hands are placed directly on the mech's knee joints. Yes, just like this..."
Something surprising happened.
Under the guidance of "Torch Dragon," the mech operated by Lieutenant Xu actually stood up shakily.
Although the movements were still clumsy, they were much better than before.
"Holy crap?!" Wang Hao's eyes almost popped out.
"This 'Torch Dragon' really has some skills!"
What was even more surprising was yet to come.
After completing basic walking, "Torch Dragon" began to guide Lieutenant Xu in his first tactical move—lateral sliding.
"Pay attention to the left leg joint torque, keep it within the 85% threshold."
"Right ankle vector nozzle output increased by 15%, yes, just like that..."
Outside the simulation pod, everyone held their breath.
They saw the "Jing-An" mech on the screen smoothly complete a standard tactical evasion move; although it wasn't perfect yet, it was already far beyond the level of other trainees.
"Impossible!" Instructor Liu was dumbfounded, "I taught him for three days and he didn't learn it!"
When Lieutenant Xu climbed out of the simulation pod, he was completely bewildered: "It... it seems to know what I'm thinking with every operation!"
"Just when I felt my knees didn't have strength, it told me which muscle group to adjust to exert force!"
The news spread like wildfire throughout the training hall.
Soon, other trainees also asked to try the "Torch Dragon Instructor" mode; after all, who wouldn't want to improve!
Squad Leader Zhang from the tank unit, under the guidance of "Torch Dragon," finally overcame the problem of over-reliance on the stabilization system;
The special forces major learned to perform tactical moves within the mech's performance boundaries;
Even the air defense soldier who always made the mech walk with crossed legs managed to walk in a straight line under the AI's patient correction.
"This is basically cheating!" Wang Hao looked at the training data and clicked his tongue in wonder.
"The average improvement speed has increased threefold! Guangzi, are you selling this 'Torch Dragon'? I'll pay three months' salary!"
Chen Guang calmly pushed up his glasses: "The core code of 'Torch Dragon' is a state secret."
"However, I can consider making a simplified version for you to teach your missile ballistics, which is always just barely passing."
"Get lost!" Wang Hao's old face flushed.
Instructor Liu looked at the trainees who were getting better on the training ground and found Feng Yan with a complex expression:
"President Feng, I apply to adjust the training program."
"From now on, leave the basic courses to 'Torch Dragon,' and our instructor group will focus on tactical coordination and live-fire drills."
Feng Yan smiled and patted his shoulder: "Don't you feel replaced by a machine?"
"Replaced?" Instructor Liu shook his head.
"It is helping us better complete the mission. The sooner these trainees form combat effectiveness, the more protection our border defense will have."
In the evening, the training hall was still brightly lit.
The trainees were practicing voluntarily, competing with their respective "AI instructors." Lieutenant Xu was even able to perform basic combat moves.
"Old Li, look at this." Chen Guang handed the tablet to Li Yang, which showed the real-time calculation data of "Torch Dragon."
"During the teaching process, it is constantly optimizing its own guidance algorithms. The current version is 7% more efficient than this morning."
Li Yang looked at the increasingly skilled figures on the training ground and said softly: "Perhaps we should consider letting 'Torch Dragon' participate in live combat command..."
Just then, Wang Hao's loud voice came from the direction of the cafeteria:
"Dinner time! Braised pork ribs tonight! If you don't come, I'll finish it all!"
A wail immediately sounded in the training hall:
"Director Wang! Save some for us!"
"Coming right away! Wait until I finish this evasion move!"
"Instructor Torch Dragon, can we speed up the progress?"
The electronic voice replied calmly: "Training quality takes precedence over speed. Please focus and complete the current module." ===== CHAPTER 114 =====
