Chapter 130

~5 min read 902 words

The miracle of Wise Eye-3 bringing the dead back to life pushed Dragon Chant's reputation to a new height.

In this festive atmosphere, Feng Yan specially approved a small internal celebration, held at the astronomical observation deck where the starry sky could be seen.

Come! For our 'Space Divine Doctor'—Heavenly Clerk's Arm!

To our badass, lightning-bedecked 'Torch Dragon'! Cheers! Wang Hao raised his juice cup (Feng Yan strictly forbade drinking on duty), his face flushed with excitement.

Everyone laughed and raised their cups.

Lieutenant Xu, Sergeant Zhang, and other Dragon Riders cadres were also present; after days of high-intensity combat readiness training, they could finally relax a bit, and everyone looked quite excited.

Lin Feng, Sun Hao, and Zhao Min, these three newcomers, were also invited to join; they remained somewhat reserved, but their eyes were filled with curiosity and longing for everything around them.

Sun Hao looked at Chen Guang, who was quietly discussing something with Li Yang not far away, and whispered to Lin Feng:

"Captain, Director Chen just said that by optimizing our algorithm model with the 'Torch Dragon,' our recognition accuracy has increased by another five percentage points!"

Lin Feng nodded excitedly, feeling as if he were dreaming.

Wang Hao somehow produced a few miniature vector thrusters—test models of the microtype used on the Heavenly Patrol satellites—and began an impromptu performance.

He secretly attached one thruster to Zhao Gong's insulated cup, then simply programmed it via the terminal.

"Zhao Gong, let me give you some high-tech, an auto-follow cup!" Wang Hao chuckled, then pressed the activation key.

The insulated cup buzzed, lifted off, and wobbled its way toward Zhao Gong.

Zhao Gong jumped at first, then laughed and cursed, "You little brat, always up to these crooked tricks!" Yet he happily caught the cup.

As it turned out, Wang Hao's programming wasn't quite right, and the cup identified the wrong target.

It then turned and flew from Zhao Gong's hand toward Li Yang, who was getting his meal, buzzing around him and drawing loud laughter from everyone.

Finally, Chen Guang couldn't stand it, slightly adjusted the parameters via the terminal, and the cup obediently flew back to Zhao Gong's table and landed steadily.

"See? That's the power of technology!" Wang Hao gloated, completely forgetting his earlier blunder.

Amid the relaxed atmosphere, there were also some new experiments.

In a corner of the observation deck, Lieutenant Xu and several Dragon Riders members volunteered to become the first testers of Lin Feng's brain‑machine interface project.

They wore improved but still somewhat clumsy electrode caps with greatly reduced latency, attempting to control a simple virtual mech model with their 'thoughts' to perform basic actions.

"Hey! Kind of interesting!" Lieutenant Xu focused, watching the virtual mech on the screen slowly raise its arm in response to his 'thought'.

Although the motion was still a bit sluggish, the sensation of direct, no‑hand‑needed thought control felt incredibly novel to him.

"If this could really be used for thought‑controlled mechs, future battles would be as simple as thinking about them!"

Lin Feng quickly explained: "Lieutenant Xu, it's still early!"

"This is just the most basic signal recognition; we're still far from true thought control. We mainly want to assess the stability of neural signals under high cognitive load…"

But the members had already launched into excited discussion, full of anticipation for the future.

As the celebration was in full swing, Feng Yan and the brigade commander quietly withdrew to the edge of the observation deck, gazing through the great glass dome at the star‑sprinkled night sky.

"The young fellows' morale is high." The brigade commander remarked.

"With your new gear backing us up, I feel much more at ease."

Feng Yan smiled, about to speak, when his encrypted communicator buzzed urgently.

He glanced at the number, his expression slightly tightening, and walked to a quieter corner to answer.

Seeing Feng Yan answer the call, the brigade commander's face gradually grew stern, his brows knitting together.

A few minutes later, Feng Yan ended the call, hurried back to the brigade commander's side, handed him the communicator, and indicated he should check the encrypted intelligence just received.

The brigade commander took it and quickly scanned through.

The intelligence showed that the opposing side's 'Mountain Hound' exoskeleton unit had seen an abnormal surge in activity frequency over the past 24 hours.

It was no longer confined to the training grounds; signs emerged of small units probing toward the actual control line.

More importantly, the source confirmed that the enemy appeared to have received new orders.

The exercise's offensive hue grew ever stronger, its provocative intent unmistakable, nearly reaching the brink of an accidental discharge.

Faint laughter from within the observation deck drifted in, forming a stark contrast with the tense situation described in the intelligence in hand.

The brigade commander slowly lowered the communicator; the smile on his face had vanished, replaced by the characteristic sternness of a soldier.

He and Feng Yan exchanged a glance, both seeing gravity in the other's eyes.

Feng Yan gazed out the window at the deep night; the distant, continuous mountain ridges loomed faintly in the darkness, like a crouching beast.

He spoke softly, his voice low but clear enough to reach the brigade commander's ears:

"If we really come to blows, then strike—hit hard with one blow to avoid a hundred."

"Our Dragon Riders, too, are due for a real test."
