Chapter 27: Local Tech
On their first night in the new environment, everyone slept exceptionally soundly.
Even the faint, lingering scent of gunpowder in the air became a soothing incense for sleep.
Early the next morning.
Wang Hao couldn't wait to play the role of tour guide.
He wanted to show his brothers the heritage of his family's "fireworks factory."
"Come on, come on! Let me show you what the birthplace of true 'precision art' looks like!"
Wang Hao urged them, his words muffled by the steamed bun in his mouth.
The first stop was the raw material workshop.
Watching the workers mix various powders according to strict ratios.
Chen Guang's professional habit kicked in; he pushed up his glasses and began analyzing the combustion chemical equations of the nitrate-sulfur-carbon system.
The master craftsman nearby was left stunned, whispering to Wang Guoqiang:
"President Wang, is this kid an expert sent from above? How is he even more knowledgeable than us old masters?"
Wang Guoqiang laughed, feeling a sense of pride:
"My Hao's brothers—could they be ordinary people?"
The second stop was the tube-rolling workshop.
Machines roared as sheets of colored paper were rapidly rolled into standard cylinders.
Li Yang watched with particular focus; the precise winding and uniform stress.
Made him feel as if he were seeing a miniature version of a composite material molding process.
Subconsciously, he began optimizing the leg structure of one of his micro-robots in his mind.
Seeing the look in Li Yang's eyes, Wang Hao became even more enthusiastic.
He pulled them directly to his core "R&D department."
Which was actually just a small workshop piled with various semi-finished products, tools, and... failed experiments.
"Watch closely! The moment to witness a miracle!"
Like a magician, Wang Hao pulled out a few of what he called "improved Skyrocket Monkeys."
He then brought out a homemade, simple launch rack with an angle scale.
"Today I'll show you a trick—what it means to 'hit exactly where you aim'!"
He loaded the "ammunition," adjusted the angle, and pressed the ignition switch with a serious face.
"Whoosh—Bang!"
A white shadow darted into the sky with precision, tracing a beautiful parabola in the air.
Then... at the expected peak, it misfired, plummeted straight down, and landed in the grass in the distance.
The scene fell into silence.
The smugness on Wang Hao's face froze, and he coughed twice: "Ahem, an accident, a slight deviation in the wind resistance calculation..."
Feng Yan held back his laughter, his internal monologue scrolling rapidly:
'Good grief, this trajectory is more convoluted than my life plan.'
Wang Hao, unconvinced, tried another one.
This time it exploded successfully, but the fireworks bloomed into a crooked, ugly "chrysanthemum," devoid of any aesthetic appeal.
"Hahaha!" Feng Yan finally couldn't hold back and burst out laughing.
"Old Wang, your 'precision art' is mainly abstract, right?"
Even the corners of Li Yang's mouth twitched imperceptibly.
Chen Guang stroked his chin, analyzing seriously:
"Old Wang, judging by the combustion uniformity, there might be a gradient distribution in your powder density."
"And the matching of the fuse delay with the propellant burn rate still needs optimization..."
Wang Hao was embarrassed and angry:
"Go, go, go! What do you guys know! This is art! Art needs flaws!"
Wang Guoqiang watched happily from the side and delivered a final blow:
"Hao, your craftsmanship isn't even as round as the 'double-kickers' you made when you were eight!"
Jokes aside, what Wang Hao showed next made the group put away their playful attitudes.
He pointed to the things he had tinkered with on the workbench.
Micro-electronic igniters and delay modules used to control fireworks detonation times and simple trajectories.
Although crude, the logic was clear.
"See that?" Wang Hao picked up a module.
"Don't look down on it because it's rustic; the stability is top-notch! And the cost is low!"
"Many of the underlying logic of my 'Haoyu Precision Delivery System' found inspiration in this thing!"
"What is civil-military integration? This is it!"
Li Yang picked up a module and examined it carefully, speaking up for once:
"Simple structure, high reliability."
"It has reference value for low-cost, large-scale consumable equipment."
Getting Li Yang's affirmation, Wang Hao's tail went up again:
"That's right! Brother Li knows his stuff!"
Just as Wang Hao was about to continue bragging about his grander "missile family" plan.
Feng Yan's phone rang.
Seeing it was Section Chief Wang, he immediately gestured for everyone to be quiet and walked aside to answer.
"Hello, Section Chief Wang... Yes, yes, yes, we have moved in smoothly."
"We're at the fireworks factory at Wang Hao's place; the site is very suitable and has solved our big problem."
"... Rest assured, it's absolutely safe; compliant operation is our bottom line..."
"Report preparation?"
"It's being stepped up!"
"After the energy issue was solved, everyone is full of drive; Li Yang's exoskeleton, Chen Guang's laser, Wang Hao's thrusters, and the robot dog coordination are all undergoing final optimization..."
"Yes, yes, understood, a national-level report, it's of great significance, we won't be careless."
"... We will definitely present our best state and will never lose face for the section or the bureau..."
"Okay, okay, I will report to you as soon as there is the latest progress! Thank you for your concern, Section Chief Wang!"
Hanging up the phone, Feng Yan let out a long sigh.
Reporting within the system is like a daily quest in a game.
You can't avoid it, and if you do it well, there's a buff.
He walked back and saw Wang Hao still holding court.
While Li Yang was squatting on the side, using a twig to draw force analysis and trajectory diagrams on the ground that no one could understand.
Clearly, he had drawn more nourishment from Wang Hao's "local tech."
Chen Guang was chatting enthusiastically with a master craftsman from Wang Hao's factory.
Seemingly discussing the possibility of applying a new type of slow-burning material.
Watching these partners who quickly integrated into the new environment and could spark inspiration anytime, anywhere, Feng Yan felt much more at ease.
He walked over and interrupted Wang Hao's "one-man show":
"Alright, my 'Firecracker King,' don't just talk, take action."
"Hurry up and help Brother Li and the others debug the equipment; we have to start adaptive testing at the new site this afternoon."
"That 'circle' of yours, can it actually draw a circle yet?"
Wang Hao got excited as soon as he heard this, patting his chest:
"Just watch, Brother Feng! Once on my turf, the buffs are fully stacked!"
"This afternoon I'll show you what 'art is explosion'... ah, ptooey, I mean 'precision explosion'!"
A new day.
Started in full swing, mixed with the smell of gunpowder, technical discussions, and Feng Yan's occasional work report calls.
It began with great enthusiasm.
Although there were some mistakes in the "Firecracker King's" new R&D.
But its unique "Haoyu Precision Delivery System" allowed Feng Yan to see Wang Hao's future prospects.
That unpredictable missile route.
In Feng Yan's vision, it was the greatest foundation their group would contribute to the motherland in the future.
"Dignity is only on the edge of the sword, and truth is only within the range of the cannon."
Feng Yan's dream was to forge a sharp sword for his country.
He still remembered what a great man once said.
There are some things we may not use, but we cannot be without them. ===== CHAPTER 28 =====
