Chapter 16: The Half-Deer and the Milk

~6 min read 1,127 words

Luo De opened the door.

Not far from the wooden cabin stood a pale green figure.

The moon tonight was exceptionally bright—bright enough for moon-worshipping night elves to raise their cups in celebration.

Yet even so, the white glow emanating from her eyes remained striking.

“Vivian?”

The tree spirit wore Luo De’s linen shirt, expressionless as she stared at him.

“Has something happened?”

Tree spirits are a race devoid of desire.

The few times she had sought him out were because her friend, the half-deer, had been injured.

So Luo De assumed something had happened again in the forest.

But Vivian shook her head.

She said nothing, merely stood there, motionless.

Luo De exhaled in relief.

Only then did he realize it was improper to speak outside the door; he quickly invited her in.

He treated it as a friend’s visit.

“Would you like something to drink? Milk? Water? Oh—you’re a tree spirit. Should I get you nutrient fluid?”

Tally leaned over.

“Water.”

Vivian likely hadn’t registered Tally’s teasing; she simply took it as a straightforward question.

“Do tree spirits dislike dairy? Tally, bring me a glass of milk.”

Vivian shook her head.

“Tally, Vivian, milk, also.”

“Fine, fine, you’re in charge.”

Moments later.

Tally brought a glass of milk.

The tree spirit held it in her hands and took a small sip.

She sat there, perfectly still.

The linen shirt was long enough that she wore it like a dress; sitting down revealed nothing.

Luo De sat across from her, at a loss for words.

And Vivian didn’t seem the type to talk much either.

The atmosphere grew awkward.

“I told you not to come at night. What if you disturbed us?”

It was Tally who broke the silence.

Though not exactly a kind thing to say.

“Tally!”

“Sorry.”

Vivian, lacking emotion, felt no embarrassment.

“Vivian, thank, Luo De.”

She added.

“You’ve already thanked him many times during the day. This is our forest—we should protect it together.”

“Vivian, want, give, help.”

Oh.

Luo De understood.

It seemed Vivian felt guilty and wanted to repay him.

The 【Tree’s Blessing】 you shared from me is already a tremendous repayment.

Tally walked over.

She sat on Luo De’s lap and gently wrapped her arms around his head.

A sweet fragrance drifted into Luo De’s nose.

“Look, Vivian—men love this~”

Tally wore a taunting grin.

Vivian nodded.

She copied Tally, sitting seriously on Luo De’s other thigh and hugging him too.

Luo De: “.”

This wasn’t like Tally’s usual behavior.

She always treated Luo De with possessiveness, viewing him as her possession.

Just like when she scared off Daphne.

Yet now she was encouraging the tree spirit to do this.

As if sensing his confusion,

Tally burst into loud laughter.

“You think I should be wary of her stealing you? Hahaha—a tree spirit with no desires?”

She transformed into a tree spirit, yet kept her own face.

Then she wrapped her arms around Luo De’s neck and kissed him deeply.

And performed an extremely wild oral exercise.

With a loud pop, they pulled apart.

“Whatever you want, I can give you~” Tally said, breathless.

Vivian suddenly seized Luo De’s face, startling Tally into silence.

Then she mimicked Tally’s kiss.

“That’s mine!”

Boom!

Amid Tally’s shriek,

the wooden door of the forest warden’s cabin was kicked open.

A half-deer lady stared at them in shock.

Then her shock turned to fury.

“Human! How dare you kidnap my friend!”

She glanced around, snatched a cushion from a chair, and hurled it at them.

Naturally, it had no effect on the three.

Luo De recognized her.

She was Vivian’s half-deer friend—the one Luo De had healed.

“Xiao Ke, good evening.”

Vivian pulled away from Luo De’s lips.

In truth, the contact between their lips stirred no emotion within her.

But if Luo De was happy, she was willing to do it.

So she greeted him calmly.

Xiao Ke immediately pulled her close, frantically checking her over.

“How are you?! Did he touch you? Did he take off your clothes?! Did he shove his filthy thing inside you?! Did he make you drink milk?!!!”

Luo De’s face darkened.

“Miss Xiao Ke.”

“Shut up! You tree trafficker! Pervert! Milk-selling seed-sower!”

She clutched the tree spirit tightly, trembling with fear.

“Hahahaha—”

Tally clapped her hands and laughed loudly.

Vivian gently patted Xiao Ke’s shoulder.

“Luo De, good person.”

“No, Vivian, don’t trust humans—they’re embodiments of desire! Someone as adorable as you, they’d lock you in a basement!”

“No, Luo De, saved, forest.”

“Illusion! Humans are masters of deception! Don’t you remember what I told you? My grandmother was tricked by humans and locked away—forced to drink milk every day, every day!”

“Vivian, already, milk, drank.”

“What?!!!”

The half-deer turned pale, tears welling in her eyes.

She glared furiously at Luo De.

「.」

「Humans! I’m going to report you to the Tree Spirit Protection Association!! Death penalty! Death penalty!!!」

Luo De rubbed his forehead.

Tally laughed on the ground, clutching her stomach, her laughter loud and annoying.

「Sorry to interrupt you.」

A stranger’s voice suddenly came from the open door.

It was a male half-deer person.

「Are you Mr. Luo De, the forest warden?」

He glanced at the four people inside with a complex expression, then politely asked.

「That’s me.」

Luo De stepped out, glad someone had interrupted this awful scene.

「Hello, Mr. Luo De. I’m George, an subordinate of Lady Isabella.」

The two shook hands briefly.

「First, I deeply apologize that Lady Isabella cannot come in person—she regrets it greatly, but Miss Daphne’s condition is dire and she must immediately travel to Stormwind City for treatment.」

Luo De nodded, showing understanding.

Though he didn’t know what the Igao Sect planned, at least now he knew Daphne was under mental control—that was the best outcome possible.

George stepped aside, revealing a pile of gifts.

「These are the gifts Lady Isabella entrusted me to deliver as thanks. Of course, they’re just a small token—not worth much—but Lady Isabella says the Argyle family still owes you a favor.」

Luo De naturally accepted without refusal.

He lacked not only strength but also resources; he didn’t care about anything else.

He had planned to exchange a few pleasantries with George.

But George sensed the tense atmosphere inside and quickly took his leave.

That left Luo De facing them again.

What he didn’t know was:

On his way out of the forest, George wrote a few notes about Luo De in his small notebook.

「Promiscuous, messy romantic relationships, involved with three women at once, dumping milk everywhere.」

He resolved to tell Lady Isabella everything he’d seen today.

The people in Shiying Town say Miss Daphne has feelings for this warden. Reporting this early might earn me more favor.
