Chapter 528: Attack on Coral Bay
On the barren plains not far from Coral Bay.
Five minutes after the elven Lady Kali's notification, a blood-red line of fire streaked across the sky.
After a piercing buzz of grinding magical energy, the line of fire struck the walls of Coral Bay.
First came a blinding white light.
Immediately following was a deafening roar like the sun itself bursting apart.
BOOM!!!
A massive ball of explosive fire erupted against the magic-reinforced walls.
The shockwave struck the eardrums like solid matter.
The ground trembled; gravel and dust were hurled up by the blast, forming a churning wall of smoke in the air.
Fragments of stone from the wall scattered outward together with the flames in a radial burst, spreading across the sky like a goddess scattering flowers.
The flames swiftly contracted, and a mushroom cloud slowly rose.
The virtually undefended dark elves seemed never to have imagined they would be attacked.
It took nearly five minutes before the shrill alarm finally sounded.
By the time the first batch of dark elves sobered up from their orgy, dressed, and came out, they were met with the sight of nearly a thousand undead troops already at their gates.
Ghouls, skeleton soldiers, wraiths, death riders, abominations.
A considerable number of them were dark elves who had previously attacked Shi Ying Town.
But because their souls had not died within their bodies, their ceiling was very low — they could only count as the most ordinary cannon-fodder troops.
Behind them, a skeletalized giant mammoth rose slowly over the horizon, each step shaking the heavens.
"Hahahahahaha——"
The ghoul Pan Ni raised high a lantern burning with white soul-fire, dressed in a classic white robe.
On her low-cut bodice, the pale-blue dead-colored skin of her figure swayed with each step of the mammoth.
She threw her head back and laughed wildly.
"Quick! Quick, record it, Chris! Let Master see how I, Pan Ni, shall show my might in this war!!!"
"Boring. I won't record it."
The banshee Chris, hiding in the rear, refused to work for that idiotic ghoul.
Especially not to please that damned forester.
Unlike that fool, I, Chris, am a banshee destined for great things — I won't be trapped forever by this measly Nu Yi Zhou.
"I'll pay you!"
"Coming~ Boss Pan Ni~~ I'll make sure to record every bit of your heroic bearing — surely it'll enchant Master beyond reason, have him burying his face in your chest every day, never willing to leave~~~"
"Hahahahaha——"
Further behind the undead army.
The witch Dimia went pale as paper, her legs giving way as she sat down on the grass.
The recovery ritual already prepared on the grass activated at once, shining with a bright light.
"Lady Dimia, are you all right?"
The half-deer girl Xiao Ke hurriedly summoned light spirits, which hovered over the witch like fireflies.
They began to accelerate the recovery of her stamina and magic.
"It's nothing — just a bit of overexertion. I'll recover after a short rest."
On the other side, the land naga Eve stared wide-eyed at the collapsed walls in the distance.
She said in astonishment, "You're only sixth-tier — where did you get the magic to cast a legendary spell?"
Dimia downed a bottle of magic potion to restore her mana.
Perhaps she drank it in too much of a hurry.
The blue liquid ran down the corner of her mouth onto her chest, the chill making her jolt.
"Far from it — at most it counts as a quasi-legendary spell. The principal house I serve, Young Lady Daphne, secured for me one ritual along the legendary-mage path, so I was able to forcibly cast it through a witch's constitution."
"I see. I once saw a legendary spell of a massive energy sword at Axe Beach in the Sword Bay region — it was indeed considerably stronger."
Dimia nodded:
"Miss Eve, I heard from Mr. Rod that you have rich experience commanding battles. The Shi Ying Town troops — please, for now, trouble you to take command."
"Leave it to me! They're nimbler than that ghoul's undead army. I'll have the dumb female orc and the half-wolf druid each lead a squad around the flanks."
The orc Amy grinned foolishly and said, "Dumb female orc? Haha, so Shi Ying Town has other orcs too."
The grey-furred dog-man Nick, his face covered in scars, sprinted crouched low along the coast of the Montes Sea with his four other companions.
Not only that.
Behind them followed a tall mushroom-man and two or three wraiths wrapped in black mist and withered branches.
The former was the mushroom-man Bin En, who had lost a wrestling match to Rod and surrendered the Mushroom King's throne.
The latter were the elite among the Wendigo who had previously voluntarily surrendered to Shi Ying Town.
Even more interesting.
On the back of one of the female members of the five dog-men, the mind flayer Hart was actually being carried.
His evil-filled eyes showed a dazed look — clearly tossed about quite badly.
Their movements were concealed, their bodies cloaked in invisibility magic.
"Almost there. Stay hidden."
Nick slowed his pace and calmly took cover behind a reef.
"Nick, we should go kill that black dragon, and avenge Mickey with our own hands."
Beside him, the dog-person companion, missing an arm, hesitated for a moment before speaking.
Nick shook his head: "Mr. Rod is over there. Black Dragon Mikhail absolutely cannot survive. I don't care about the process, only the result."
His companion froze for a beat, then nodded.
Effectively agreeing with his big brother's reasoning.
Then he couldn't help glancing at the mind flayer on the female companion's back, an expression of fear and disgust surfacing on his face.
"You alright? Uma."
Uma, the female dog-person whose face was half-burned away and whose tongue had been cut out, nodded.
Almost without expression.
Nick instructed:
"Keep a close eye on this mind flayer. Her mobility is very weak, but she has extremely powerful psychic abilities. The goal of this trip is to secretly infiltrate Coral Bay during the chaos. When the time comes, Mr. Rod will lift Hart's ability restrictions, and we can use that to stir up trouble inside."
"Understood." *3
Clang—
The dog-people jumped in fright, turned around, and saw the mushroom-person Bin collapsed on the ground, clutching a handful of hallucinogenic spores and puffing out clouds.
". Just leave this guy here."
"That's not right—he was entrusted by Lady Demiya."
"He's a seventh-tier at least."
The dark elves, after a brief moment of bewilderment, quickly recovered.
After all, they were evil mages who didn't count the cost or the deaths.
Moreover, with many types specialized for direct frontal combat, although their numbers fell short of the undead legion, they soon pushed the advantage back.
After all, they're all just cannon-fodder-tier summons.
Those truly dealing effective damage were still the high-combat-power mages like the star-spirit Hayley, the rabbit-person Ona, and the dog-person Sharon.
The female beast-person Amy, the half-wolf druid Olga, and the elf Bernhard had to take on the responsibility of entangling vanguard, preventing the enemy's high-tier combatants from closing in.
Add to that the arrow support from the back line, Little Little Bangde the little pony-girl, and it's passable, I suppose.
For a time.
In midair, figures darted back and forth, magic roared without pause, and effective damaging evocation spells—lightning, fire, frost—kept flying.
Coral Bay outskirts.
Ritual Site No. 3.
The elf Lady Kali swayed her magic-exhausted body, slowly stood up, and raised her head.
A stream of blood slid straight down from her forehead, instantly dyeing the vision of her right eye crimson.
Slightly disheveled golden hair fell across her temples.
Rat Girl Number Thirteen half-knelt before her, clutching her limp, dangling right arm.
Her injuries were far heavier than Lady Kali's.
Countless sword wounds covered her body, especially one that pierced clean through her abdomen; blood had soaked more than half her body.
Despite that, she still wore no expression, staring fixedly ahead.
At the dark elf man whose hair hadn't even been the slightest bit disheveled.
His whole body was wrapped in the crimson airflow of 【Hero Amplification】, and the gleaming silver sword in his hand radiated an extraordinary aura.
"A treasure-wielding, peak eighth-tier leader-class dark elf, huh."
