Chapter 51: Is Xu Qingzhou a Scumbag?

At the same time, Xu Qingzhou and the others arrived at the dining spot.

Changchun Garden Food Street.

Xu Zhengyang had called in the afternoon to reserve a table.

Xu Qingzhou saw everyone standing at the door, waiting for the girls, and thought these guys had definitely never been in a relationship: “Let’s go in first and secure our private room.”

It was the start of the semester, and there were many people dining; if the boss or waiter overlooked the reservation and gave away the table, they’d be terribly embarrassed.

Xu Zhengyang thought it made sense: “Alright, Lao Kong, you two wait here for them. I’ll go in with Lao Xu.”

The two went inside to confirm the table, and when they came out, four girls had arrived—undoubtedly, the girls from the School of Economics were truly high-quality.

“Hello, ladies, I’m Xu Zhengyang, very pleased to meet you,” Xu Zhengyang waved.

!{

Didn’t expect to run into Xu Qingzhou.

Xu Qingzhou took a sip of buckwheat tea and replied coolly: “I don’t know—is this show famous?”

Science is science. Showing off talents is unnecessary; contestants must earn ratings from celebrities to advance. It’s bizarre.

The girls began introducing themselves.

“Dong Shan,” Xu Zhengyang greeted the cute girl in the white dress in the middle.

Dong Shan was the type with a lively personality and joked: “Xu, Xu—you two are half-family.”

“I don’t watch much TV,” Zhai Ziqiang blushed.

“I’m Dong Shan.”

Yuan Xiaoye stared at Zhai Ziqiang like he was an alien, astonished: “You don’t even know this? This year’s hottest variety show!”

Xu Qingzhou smiled politely and gave a brief introduction: “Hello, I’m Xu Qingzhou.”

“Maybe their dorm mates know Dong Shan and the others.”

Kong Xianbo, who had been silent, shook his head seriously: “Full name: Large-scale Science-Based Reality TV Show. Abbreviation: Variety Show.”

“You guys order,” Xu Zhengyang handed the menu to Dong Shan.

“Xu Qingzhou, you bastard, taking advantage of me!”

Yuan Xiaoye seemed too lazy to explain: “It’s super popular right now. You can watch it yourselves when you get back—everyone on it is amazing.”

The atmosphere grew subtly awkward.

“You’ve been here a while, right?”

Zhong Ruotong guessed.

He was alone facing four girls—he felt immense pressure.

“Just arrived, just booked it, and you showed up.”

“Why is he having dinner with people from our major?”

Xu Qingzhou silently gave Kong Xianbo a thumbs-up—he hadn’t expected this guy, though quiet, still had some backbone.

In the distance, Xu Qingzhou and the others also walked into the restaurant smiling. Zhang Qiong kept a watchful eye, gave Xu Qingzhou a long look, then walked away with Zhong Ruotong.

“Super Brain?” Zhai Ziqiang looked confused. “Have you all met yet?” Xu Zhengyang suddenly felt at ease.

Song Yao had spent the afternoon out and said she was too tired to go out again; Teng Xiaojuan had plans, so only the two of them went for a casual stroll and did some shopping.

“Order already, what are you staring at? So happy?” Dong Shan finished ordering and nudged Deng Ye—these two had actually pulled out their phones during the gathering.

At the table, everyone had sat down.

In his past life, this show had invited him to serve as a science assistant or something similar—he’d refused.

The show seemed imported from abroad, inviting geniuses from various fields to take turns showcasing talents; those who advanced formed China’s team to face off against the European squad.

“It’s scientific competition,” Yuan Xiaoye corrected.

“Just watching is fine—we don’t like these variety shows,” Xu Zhengyang was also annoyed by Yuan Xiaoye’s attitude—did watching a variety show make her feel superior?

At first everyone was reserved, but after going around and introducing themselves, they loosened up and began chatting happily.

She looked decent, dressed simply, giving off a bright, cheerful vibe; she was now chatting easily with the girls, unlike the other boys who seemed shy.

Zhang Qiong squinted, studying Song Yao’s ordinary friend closely.

A hundred meters away.

“On the way here, we almost got lost—luckily we asked an upperclasswoman.”

!.

He actually knew—he just disliked Yuan Xiaoye’s condescending attitude.

Dong Shan nodded and smiled: “Except for you two.”

Seeing Xu Qingzhou and the others come out, Kong Xianbo breathed a sigh of relief, as if rescued—the atmosphere had been awkward. Zhai Ziqiang had said his name and then fell silent, embarrassed.

Could Xu Qingzhou actually be a total scumbag, and poor Song Yao just another fish in his pond?

“Hey, isn’t that one of the girls from Class Three?” Zhang Qiong watched the two girls in front of the restaurant.

“Maybe,” Zhang Qiong nodded slightly.

The girl with long hair sitting across from Xu Qingzhou was Liang Dongni; beside her, the short-haired girl clutching her phone was Yuan Xiaoye; the girl beside her, laughing and scrolling on her phone while wearing large-framed glasses, was Deng Lin—she looked sweet and clueless.

Yuan Xiaoye wanted to argue, but what he said was true, so she could only huff in annoyance, thinking these guys had zero gentlemanly manners—arguing with a girl like this.

“Super Brain—we’re watching the Professor episode,” Deng Lin took the menu and smiled.

Zhang Qiong immediately grew wary—last night at the tea gathering, Song Yao had said she’d never been in love, but Xu Qingzhou clearly looked like a seasoned player.

“Yes, Dong Shan and the others,” the girl beside her nodded, glancing at the boys across from Dong Shan: “The one in the white T-shirt on the left—he’s the guy who took Song Yao out, Xu Qingzhou.”

“Yeah, I’m Lao Xu’s distant cousin,” Xu Qingzhou, sensing the mood had soured, played the role of a tool person to lighten things up and create space for others.

Xu Qingzhou and Xu Zhengyang also disliked it, but out of respect for Dong Shan, they chose to hold back for now.

Seeing the atmosphere stiffen, Dong Shan sighed helplessly and tried to smooth things over: “I saw online that this place’s food is authentic.”

“True, I’ve seen tons of posts saying this place’s food is delicious. Xu Zhengyang’s from Beijing—make sure you vet it well for us.”

Liang Dongni chimed in—she had no interest in matchmaking, she was just tagging along with her dorm mates.

Xu Zhengyang, though annoyed by Yuan Xiaoye, still cared deeply for Dong Shan: “Then you’ve come to the right person. I don’t care about anything else, but when it comes to food, I just taste it once and know if it’s real.”
