Chapter 790: This Is the Benefit of Having a Rich Daddy?
Dusk fell, and lanterns lit up outside the window.
“Bored out? Let’s play a game?”
Xu Shou and Song Shisong couldn’t sit still and brought out the chessboard.
“You two are about to eat.”
“Perfect time for a game.”
The room instantly buzzed with life; Xu Qingzhou peeled an orange and ate it, then broke off a segment and gave it to Song Yao, whispering just loud enough for the two of them to hear: “Professor Song, don’t you think your act as a little girl is a bit too cloying?”
In front of Old Xu and Old Song, Song Yao was the picture of gentleness.
“Professor Xu, you don’t have to speak.” Song Yao’s hand rested on Xu Qingzhou’s thigh, her face wearing a faint smile, yet Xu Qingzhou felt not a trace of warmth.
“.”
At 6:30 p.m., fragrant dishes were already set on the dining table.
The six-member family sat around the table.
Xu Shouyun pulled out the Maotai he’d brought from Wutong Community and poured three liang each for the three men.
Wang Xiaping sighed helplessly: “You’re all working tomorrow—drink less.”
Monday, the day most office workers hated.
Old Xu and the others had to work, and Xu Qingzhou had confirmed his visit to the CFQS-T project—he’d be staying there for this period.
Song Yao was on leave and planned to return to the community for a few days to spend quality time with Old Song and his wife.
“Just this one glass.”
“Right, exactly three liang—not much.”
“Who believes you? Last time you said the same thing—ended up having to carry you back to your room.”
“Did we?”
“What, need to see the video?”
“Cough, no need.”
Outside, cold wind howled; inside, laughter echoed.
The next day.
Xu Qingzhou met up with Ren Nan. Also joining the visit were Academician Ren Nan and sixteen researchers.
“Professor Xu, welcome.”
At the entrance of the CFQS-T project institute, Academician Liu Fanyang and the project’s core team greeted them.
“Academician Liu, long time no see.”
Xu Qingzhou shook hands with him.
“Professor Xu, you said back at Oxford you’d come over—I’ve been waiting two years and finally you’re here.”
Liu Fanyang smiled warmly.
“You’re too kind.”
“Old Ren, welcome.” Liu Fanyang turned his gaze to his old friend Ren Nan.
They exchanged pleasantries and walked in together.
The institute still had many banners posted.
Things like “Welcome Colleagues from the Beijing Institute of Materials.”
The first day was mainly a tour of the CFQS-T project construction site.
CFQS-T’s innovation lies in its quasi-toroidal symmetric magnetic field, giving it superior performance in certain areas, such as transport loss control, compared to Germany’s W7-X.
Once completed, Xia will become the third country in the world, after Germany and the United States, to master the “three-dimensional non-planar modular coil” technology—critical for stellarators.
Currently, CFQS-T focuses on the “quasi-toroidal symmetric” configuration, optimizing magnetic field structure to reduce plasma energy loss.
Under previous designs, magnetic field precision was only at level 10, while W7-X’s magnetic field precision had been experimentally verified at level 10, creating a full order-of-magnitude gap.
W7-X’s figures are from two years ago—no one knows how far it’s advanced since, meaning CFQS-T’s overall engineering capability still lags behind W7-X.
