Chapter 99: Being Handsome Really Is Advantageous

~7 min read 1,273 words

Tuesday morning had no classes, otherwise today would’ve been unbearable.

The four of them cleaned the dorm, then Xu Zhengyang lay back on his bed.

Kong Xianbo spent the entire morning in a daze, immersed in the stupidity of last night’s behavior, silently vowing never to drink again; after finishing the cleaning, he picked up his book and prepared to leave.

“Old Kong, going to the library again?” Xu Zhengyang lay on his bed.

“Yeah, Professor Jiao left a problem last time—I’m going to the library to look up materials.” Kong Xianbo muttered. Fortunately, he’d held back last night and hadn’t revealed the secret that his paper had already been approved and would soon be published.

Otherwise, his future bragging plans would’ve been ruined.

Xu Zhengyang also thought of this and looked at Xu Qingzhou: “Old Xu, did you solve the problem Professor Jiao left before the holiday?”

Wu Tianyu: “.”

Read!{

“You’re too kind,” Xu Qingzhou replied modestly.

The two left, unaware that far away, a girl was staring fixedly at the direction they had gone.

“You didn’t even look at the PPT Professor Jiao posted?” Xu Zhengyang said.

And yet, Xu Qingzhou kept switching partners every so often.

Wu Tianyu had little interest in Peking University’s famous landmarks; instead, she preferred strolling down side paths, pulling Xu Qingzhou over whenever she saw a pretty view to take photos.

Wu Tianyu was momentarily speechless, gazing at Xu Qingzhou with a wounded look: “Brother, don’t you know girls don’t like being asked about their age?”

Perfect—even she couldn’t guarantee she’d achieve it.

Xu Qingzhou remembered—it really had happened. He’d been thinking about the Cramér conjecture at the time, glanced briefly at the problem, found it too easy, and ignored it.

But before he could finish, Wu Tianyu turned to Xu Qingzhou and said: “No need to trouble yourself—it’s a bit stuffy here. Could you show me around campus, Xu Qingzhou?”

Wu Tianyu smiled sweetly: “Xu Qingzhou, let’s go. I’ve been abroad for years and haven’t been back to Peking University in a long time.”

Leading the way was an old man with glasses, accompanied by a woman in her late twenties, wearing a white shirt and black pants, also wearing glasses, exuding a commanding aura.

“The PPT’s in the group—Liang Quanjie already posted it. Wait, the message got buried—I’ll forward it to you.” Zhai Ziqiang found the file and shared it with Xu Qingzhou.

Beside the old man, the woman was also curiously studying Xu Qingzhou.

“Mm.” Wu Tianyu nodded, seemingly satisfied. Her logic was clear, her speech revealing solid foundational skills, even comparable to a graduate student’s level.

“Young brother, here are all the final data,” Wang Wei handed Xu Qingzhou a hard drive. “You can rest for a while now until the new experiment begins.”

This morning Wang Wei had said the equipment was arriving soon and could be installed within a few days; two MRI experts would come today to finalize the installation plan.

“These two are Director Deng Guangxu and Dr. Wu Tianyu from the institute,” Zhao Shengwen also smiled and introduced them to Xu Qingzhou.

!.

Zhao Shengwen and Hong Yaju went into the neighboring office, leaving only Xu Qingzhou and the others.

“Alright.” Xu Qingzhou nodded. Hong Yaju was now buried in piles of documents; Ren Xiaoling certainly couldn’t handle it, and Wang Wei seemed busy too—only he was completely idle in the entire office.

“Director Deng, this way please.” Zhao Shengwen and Deng Guangxu had other matters, so he turned to Wang Wei: “Little Wang, take care of Dr. Wu.”

Seeing Xu Qingzhou’s bewildered expression, Xu Zhengyang laughed it off: “Then I’m not worried anymore.”

“Alright, I’ll check it later.” Xu Qingzhou was packing up, planning to head to the lab—the dorm reeked of alcohol and needed airing out.

Too bad, brother’s heart is too cold. Xu Qingzhou remained unmoved, stepping forward to follow her. Wu Tianyu was beautiful, perfectly described as still possessing charm—but not his type.

“Dr. Wu,” Wang Wei wanted to invite Wu Tianyu to sit down for a while.

After taking countless photos and seeing the time was right, they headed back. Wu Tianyu sighed: “Brother, you’re so cold—you never initiate conversation.”

Xu Qingzhou took the hard drive, bid farewell to Wang Wei and the others, and left the lab with Wu Tianyu.

Xu Qingzhou explained his original concept, then how he incorporated physics to refine the model. “So obvious?” Wu Tianyu openly admitted, throwing Xu Qingzhou a flirtatious glance. “I like younger guys—especially ones with good genes.”

Xu Qingzhou nodded and asked casually: “Then how about some small talk?”

The institute was short on talent like her; Director Deng’s intention was to let her observe and see—if she could be persuaded to join early, even better.

Watching their retreating backs, Gong Yunfei whistled in awe: “Being handsome really is advantageous.”

Finally getting to the point.

Wu Tianyu had merely wanted to tease Xu Qingzhou—she specialized in functional analysis and had deep expertise in that field—but even she was surprised by his model.

“Envious?” Hong Yaju paused her work and looked up at him. Gong Yunfei’s expression turned serious as he gazed at Hong Yaju and said solemnly: “Not here—sister, you’re the most beautiful.”

Wang Wei sought Xu Qingzhou’s opinion, secretly pleased—he seemed to have gained much more research time.

“You must be Xu Qingzhou. Peking University really does produce talent,” the old man smiled warmly as he stared at Xu Qingzhou.

Pfft~ In broad daylight, openly flirting! Little Yao really has terrible luck—she rushes straight to the library after every class, studies hard every day, waiting eagerly for Xu Qingzhou besides her studies.

When they arrived at the lab, they indeed saw two new people.

This woman—does she have some ulterior motive?

Seeing the two ahead walk away, Zhang Qiong took a deep breath, pulled out her phone, and sent Song Yao a message: “Little Yao, go to the cafeteria by yourself—I’ve got something to handle, I’ll join you later.”

Xu Qingzhou said: “Dr. Wu, the way you’re looking at me makes me wonder if you have some agenda.”

Xu Qingzhou became even more certain Wu Tianyu had another motive, and didn’t rush—he’d wait for her to crack first.

Gong Yunfei felt utterly deflated. Indeed, sister isn't an ordinary woman.

“As a guy, shouldn’t you be starting the conversation?”

Meanwhile, Xu Qingzhou and Wu Tianyu exited the lab building.

After speaking, she gave Xu Qingzhou a sultry glance and walked toward the lab building.

“What?”

“Director Deng, Dr. Wu.”

Hong Yaju had already seen through his intentions and asked coolly: “Have you finished filtering last night’s data report?”

Xu Qingzhou’s lips twitched—sure enough, this female rogue was lusting after his body.

“Alright.” Wang Wei nodded.

“Problem?” Xu Qingzhou blinked.

Her overly enthusiastic attitude made Xu Qingzhou uneasy—he kept feeling like a lamb walking into a wolf’s den.

He sized Wu Tianyu up and down, feeling a pang of regret: “Too bad—I prefer younger girls.”

“Xu Qingzhou,” Zhang Qiong’s gaze darkened—this scoundrel had crossed her path again!

“Younger brother, why don’t you…”

Seeing Xu Qingzhou showed no intention of starting a conversation, Wu Tianyu’s beautiful eyes fixed on him: “How did you come up with your mathematical model?”

After sending it, she broke into a run toward the direction the two had gone.

She wanted to see exactly what these two were up to.

Xu Qingzhou and the woman walked quickly, and Zhang Qiong unconsciously quickened her pace.

But just as she turned a corner, a tall shadow suddenly loomed before her—she barely stopped herself from colliding into it.
