Chapter 538
On the All-Knowing Mystery,
Gabriel Angelos, Chapter Master of the Raven Guard, stood on the armory's elevated platform, watching the Raven Guards come and go,
these Raven Guards were hauling back the equipment and holy relics they had just "rescued" from the Necrons; from above, they looked like a swarm of dark red crows diligently at work.
"My Lord, what shall we do with these Necron Gauss weapons?" the Armory Master asked, pointing to the recovered Necron Gauss rifles,
these Necron weapons could unleash green lightning beams capable of tearing apart atomic structures, rendering even ceramite armor and warship hulls powerless against their damage,
their value was self-evident,
yet they were undeniably unclean xenos weapons.
"What do you mean, Necron Gauss weapons?"
Gabriel Angelos glared at the Armory Master:
"Do we have any such unclean Necron weapons in our Chapter?"
"Aren't these our Raven Guard's ancestral Dark Age of Technology disintegrator guns?"
"Ah! You, Armory Master, are utterly negligent—look how the paint has chipped off!"
"Repaint them dark red, and I'll spare you punishment this time!"
The Armory Master swiftly bowed his head in humility and began repainting the Necron Gauss—no, the chipped Dark Age of Technology disintegrator guns—as Gabriel ordered.
"My Lord! Come quick!!" a new recruit, assigned to sort the salvage, shouted, holding high a gleaming dagger, while at his feet lay a cold-shining amulet and an exquisitely crafted sword case.
Gabriel Angelos's mechanical right eye zoomed in instantly, recognizing the dagger's design, and he was slightly startled,
he descended from the platform and hurried to the recruit's side, taking the dagger from his hands,
the dagger resembled a skinning knife used for wild beasts, its hilt forged from dark gold metal into the shape of a winged robed figure, wrapped in coarse animal hide,
Gabriel Angelos raised the dagger, feeling its balance and elegance,
a door-opener, a first-class door-opener weapon—undoubtedly crafted by the Primordial Legions, possibly even from the Legion era ten thousand years ago,
as Gabriel gently brought the blade closer, he noticed an inscription etched upon it,
"A gift from Leman Russ to Lu Se."
Upon reading those words, Gabriel Angelos felt a slight jolt in his chest,
then he picked up the sword case and amulet on the ground, examining them closely,
the amulet shaped like a winged short sword, about the size of an Astartes' palm, clearly housing a powerful deflection field generator,
its craftsmanship was so exquisite, its field strength so potent, it could rival the Iron Halo, one of the Raven Guard's most sacred relics, once belonging to a Primarch,
and the sword case was equally masterful—appearing merely a weapon sheath, yet internally fitted with a full static field system, independently powered, capable of preserving its contents for ten thousand years without decay or rust,
the sword case bore the ancient insignia of the First Legion and also bore the inscription: "Gift from Leman Russ to Lu Se."
"My Lord, should we return these to the Dark Angels Chapter?" the new recruit asked.
Gabriel involuntarily sighed,
since the Raven Guard's recruiting world was destroyed and the Great Rift opened, the Chapter's fortunes had declined day by day, growing ever more desperate,
the quality of new recruits had deteriorated greatly—Raven Guards from Cyrene would never have asked such a question.
"My child, you must understand: our Chapter is not wealthy; we are often impoverished and isolated."
"We do not know our true origins—we have never had a Gene-Father since our inception."
