Chapter 564: Could Saint Dora-a-Mon Be Our Genetic Father?

~5 min read 958 words

"Lord Seth, are you truly not shaken by this scene?" Gabriel Angilos trembled as he stared at the spectacle before him.

In the arena, two towering figures clashed—hammers, swords, and shields colliding—but the Astartes surrounding them could not make out the details, only hearing the relentless clashing sounds.

Lion El'Jonson was battling the beautiful silver-haired figure, who was none other than the clone of Primarch Fulgrim.

The two Primarchs were dueling with their superhuman physiques; the dazzling combat left the Astartes utterly baffled, unable to discern a single move.

In another arena beside them, a Dark Angels warrior shrouded in darkness faced off against a Battle Sister covered in burns.

They stared at each other—her pitch-black eyes without eyelids and his faintly burning golden eyes both seemed to reflect the future, and that future shifted continuously with their predictions.

"They've been standing like this for twenty minutes," Gabriel Angilos muttered, speechless.

The Dark Angels warrior was Titus, the Midnight Chosen of Konrad Curze, former Second Company Captain of the Dark Angels and now Company Captain of the Saint Dora-a-Mon Dark Angels.

The Battle Sister claimed to be the dual Chosen of Saint Dora-a-Mon and the Emperor—a common Battle Sister named Jeanne.

It was said both possessed the ability to foresee the future, which was why their confrontation had become this bizarre stalemate.

Lion El'Jonson, the clone Primarch Fulgrim, the Midnight Chosen Dark Angels Titus, Jeanne, the dual Chosen of the Emperor and Saint Dora-a-Mon—aren't there too many gods on this ship?

"You came too late. A few decades earlier, you could have seen the Primarch-Enhanced Chosen of Khorne, Dora-a-Mon, and the Emperor—Khan—and the Chosen of Tzeentch, Ahriman," Seth murmured.

With Saint Dora-a-Mon's return, the call to the former Saint Dora-a-Mon Chapter had been issued, and the warriors who once marched aboard the Lightlord were converging upon the Red Tear.

Seth watched the clone Primarch Fulgrim fighting the Lion, and he could not help but recall the Phoenix Sons Chapter—the Primarch-Enhanced Astartes Sol, who called himself the Son of Dorn.

Sol must have received the call too, but judging by the current situation, he would not arrive before the Red Tear reached Corinara, the homeworld of the Crimson Angels. It would be fascinating to see Sol's expression upon encountering the clone Primarch Fulgrim.

Thinking of Corinara, the homeworld of the Crimson Angels, Seth involuntarily exhaled a hot breath of blood. He felt his chest's fury growing steadily—no doubt the influence of that so-called Crimson Angel.

At the previous battle council, Saint Dora-a-Mon had revealed the full story to the high command of every Blood Angels sub-chapter.

The origin lay with the Crimson Angels Chapter.

Years ago, Seth had viewed the Crimson Angels as the epitome of a Son of Sanguinius, often envying their low rates of Black Rage and Blood Thirst.

But during the Battle of Baal, Seth and the other Sons of Sanguinius learned the truth.

The Crimson Angels had employed a blasphemous, secret dark ritual to suppress their Black Rage and Blood Thirst.

They called it the Ritual of Remorse. Every fifty years, they drained the blood of a portion of their homeworld's population, gathering it into a blood pool.

Then, they sacrificed a Blood Priest, pouring his blood into the pool, drank it all, and turned the remainder into blood-food to sustain them through the next fifty years of battle.

The darkest aspect of this ritual was that the Blood Priest's body cycled Sanguinius's blood; no matter how they concealed it, the essence of the Ritual of Remorse was the theft of Sanguinius's blood, using it as sustenance for their crimson hunger.

Years before the Battle of Baal, Dante had discovered this dark ritual, but at the time, Crimson Angels Chapter Master Chaud declared: if the Blood Angels interfered with their Ritual of Remorse, the Crimson Angels would expose the secrets of Black Rage and Blood Thirst to the entire galaxy, revealing the Blood Angels' flaws.

This forced Dante to endure it, severing all ties with the Crimson Angels.

According to Captain Fenner, who had disobeyed his Chapter Master's orders during the Battle of Baal by taking his company to reinforce Baal: Chaud is now dead, succeeded by Chapter Master Kuldus Moer.

But Moer did not correct Chaud's errors—he intensified the Ritual of Remorse.

Saint Dora-a-Mon had unveiled the true nature of the Ritual of Remorse.

Its essence was Khorne's scheme: the ritual gave birth to the demon Crimson Angel, forged ten thousand years ago from the fury of the Blood Angels, born from the Chaos weapon Flame of Fury.

Each performance of the Ritual of Remorse drives the Crimson Angels further toward the Crimson Angel's corruption, nourishing the demon.

Now Tzeentch has joined this conspiracy.

The Lord of Change seeks to cultivate the Crimson Angel, to make him fully replace Sanguinius and become the new Primarch of the Blood Angels.

Seth clenched his fist slightly—this abomination of the Warp dared to do such a thing.

"Lord Gabriel Angilos, Saint Dora-a-Mon and Lord Sanguinius require your presence." At that moment, a voice interrupted Gabriel's thoughts.

A Custodian entered through the training room's door, standing at the threshold and calling out.

The Custodian was Valerian, Captain of the Shield Company, who had come with Saint Dora-a-Mon.

When Seth heard "Gabriel," he thought it was him being called—but upon closer listening, he realized it was the Chapter Master beside him, the Raven Guard.

"Me?" Gabriel Angilos blinked, pointing at himself, bewildered.

He was merely an ordinary Raven Guard Chapter Master—why had Saint Dora-a-Mon and the Primarch summoned him?

Though puzzled, Gabriel did not refuse the summons; he followed the Custodian to meet Saint Dora-a-Mon and Primarch Sanguinius.

"In your twenty-thousand-plus simulations, is there ever real danger on Corinara?"
