Chapter 608
"I've remembered."
Fu Gen quickly repeated the plan Kiriman had just stated, then continued:
"But I'd like to add something—the defenses around Paradis are thin; we can deploy the Butcherers' 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Companies to fill the gap. They're hardened in bloodshed and can withstand the pressure."
"I've reviewed the files—the Mourning Warriors, now reinforced with Primaris Space Marines, have regained combat readiness. I recommend deploying their entire force from the Vorian Vash system to shift toward the right flank of the Storm King's troops."
"I've heard the Mourning Warriors have terrible luck—perhaps they can lure the Storm King's forces into shifting position."
"Thus, the Ultramarines and Blood Angels, combined with the Butcherers and Mourning Warriors, can form a pocket to encircle the Storm King's forces."
Even if unsuccessful, they can maneuver at any time toward the Silent King's forces to plug gaps in the line—more flexible and efficient.
Fu Gen spoke with ease, swiftly supplementing Kiriman's plan while filling in many of its details,
compared to Kiriman's plan, Fu Gen's additions were slightly less feasible, but if executed, they would form a perfect encirclement against the Storm King,
which made Kiriman nod slightly in satisfaction.
"I must admit, you truly are our father's son—like my brother," Kiriman said with a smile, praising Fu Gen.
A faint smile crossed Fu Gen's lips: "I've always been, brother."
"Very well, then it's settled," Kiriman said, organizing the papers in his hands as he spoke to Fu Gen.
but Fu Gen still had questions and did not intend to end the war council yet,
he reached out and gently pressed down on the papers Kiriman was gathering, asking:
"What of the Cadia 184th Regiment, the veteran Cadia Shock Troops, the Battle Sisters led by Lady Jeanne, and the Saint Doraemon Chapter?"
"And how will Saint Guilliman himself act in this operation? Should we recall Lain and his Absolution Angels?"
"They are not under our command chain," Kiriman said, glancing at Guilliman, who had been smiling quietly beside him without speaking.
"Lain claims he is following the Emperor's guidance, appearing wherever he is needed."
"As for Saint Guilliman—surely Zhou Yun has already made arrangements for you?" Kiriman asked Guilliman.
"Indeed," Guilliman said softly, "but I regret I cannot share those arrangements with you, to prevent anything from deviating from the intended course."
Kiriman nodded as if he had expected this, and did not press further on the matter.
Fu Gen, however, slightly clenched his lips in dissatisfaction.
"Does he still believe I have a fifty percent chance of betraying you? Does he still distrust me?"
"When will I ever prove my loyalty?"
Fu Gen clearly believed Zhou Yun's secrecy stemmed from fear of his betrayal.
"Even the probability of your betrayal is not zero," Kiriman suddenly spoke before Fu Gen's voice had faded, looking at him calmly.
"Did Zhou Yun say that?" Fu Gen fell silent.
Kiriman gave a slight nod. Fu Gen stared at his face but could read no emotion.
"Don't you think… this suspicion borders on humiliation?" Fu Gen bit his lip slightly.
"I don't even consider this suspicion," Kiriman said coolly. "Rationally and logically, everything is possible."
"Even the most loyal can, in probability, be corrupted—even if the chance is minuscule."
"Ten thousand years ago, no one believed you or Horus would betray—yet you did."
"I am not omnipotent, nor am I necessarily more resilient than Horus was. If the gods employed some vile and powerful means, I too could still be corrupted."
