Chapter 623: Which Legion Is Least Skilled at Fighting Space Dwarves?

~4 min read 656 words

Leina stood on the bridge of the Lightlord, gazing with concern at the barren planet before her.

It was a nameless world, listed in the Imperium's records only as Dua-8, denoting it as the eighth planet of the Dua system.

The planet held no significance anywhere in the galaxy.

It possessed no valuable minerals, an atmosphere too thin to sustain life, and no inhabitants.

Yet at this moment, in Leina's eyes, this planet was nearly as vital as Terra, even surpassing Baal and Macragge.

Simply because Zhou Yun was on this barren world, alongside the Primarchs Sanguinius and Roboute Guilliman.

But beyond them, not a single unit remained on Dua-8—neither Zhou Yun's Doraemon Legion, nor Sanguinius's Blood Angels, nor Guilliman's Ultramarines had followed them.

The three most powerful beings of humanity stood utterly unprotected on this world, and even Leina's Lightlord had been ordered to evacuate the system immediately.

Leina felt fear, dreading some accident befall them, but Zhou Yun refused any form of protection.

"Ten thousand Astartes are less useful to me than one Space Dwarf."

"At least I can tell dwarf jokes to amuse myself."

Leina had to admit Zhou Yun was right.

Once real combat erupted, neither the Imperial Guard nor the Astartes would be of much use, nor could they offer any protection to the two Primarchs and Zhou Yun—the outcome would likely be the Primarchs and Zhou Yun protecting the Astartes and the Guard.

Yet Leina remained deeply anxious. The risk was simply too great.

"You once believed everything was the Emperor's finest design—can you not now believe all of this is the Doraemon's finest design?"

Renna stood beside Leina, also gazing at the barren planet.

"I trust Holy Doraemon, but I worry about Zhou Yun," Leina unconsciously clenched her hands into a ball against her chest: "May the Emperor and Holy Doraemon protect them."

"..." Renna looked at Leina, unable to grasp her logic.

The Emperor and Holy Doraemon themselves protecting the Emperor and Holy Doraemon themselves?

"Can your precognition locate where the Space Dwarves are?" Leina suddenly asked.

Renna tilted her head slightly, confused by Leina's meaning.

"Dwarves?" Renna asked, puzzled.

"Zhou Yun said he wanted to tell dwarf jokes—dwarf jokes should be jokes told by dwarves, right?"

"Let's capture some dwarves and give Zhou Yun some jokes."

Though somewhat slow-witted, Leina sensed that Zhou Yun's mental state had acquired a subtle change from before.

As if he were bored—so Leina tried to find him something entertaining.

"A group of Space Dwarves are trying to sneak in at the edge of the Expanse of the Dead."

Renna's eyes shimmered faintly as she spoke, then shifted her tone:

"Do you know which Primarch's descendants are least skilled at fighting Space Dwarves?"

"... ho? Which one?" Leina asked, distracted as she ordered the Lightlord to head toward the location Renna indicated.

"It's the descendants of Chagatai Khan—the White Scars. The White Scars once issued an extermination order against the Space Dwarves—but not a single Space Dwarf was harmed," Renna said, her face grim.

"W-why?" Leina was baffled.

"Because the Kherisians don't kill anyone shorter than a wheel," Renna said solemnly.

"Huh??" A string of question marks floated above Leina's head—but before she could ask, a red dot appeared on the Lightlord's auspex.

In truth, no auspex was needed—Leina could see the massive warship breaching the Dua system with her naked eyes.

It resembled an entire city of black tombs suspended in space, tearing through the stars; its size dwarfed anything Leina had ever seen—even the Abyss-class battleship Doraemon Cabinet paled beside it, and even the Mountain Array fell short.

Leina even suspected a black star had crashed into the system.

Fortunately, the vessel ignored the Lightlord entirely, heading straight for Dua-8.

In the final moment before leaving the Dua system, Leina saw three burning orbs fall from the void, and a sharp laugh echoed through space.

"Szarak! The Silent King! Poor creature!"
