Chapter 125: Blue Wings Will Resurrect the Primarch

~10 min read 1,857 words

"I cannot help but listen to the sound of a bolter being cocked," Zhou Yun said, his mouth corner twitching slightly.

For now, he did not intend to meet that old man Dante.

If Zhou Yun were to tell old man Dante directly that he intended to resurrect Sanguinius.

Leaving aside whether some blasphemous entities in the Warp would take notice, the mere statement alone would be enough to cause instant PTSD in any Astartes well-versed in 30k history.

Back then, the Sons of Horus sent Horus into Dai Wen's temple to save their gene-father, causing him to be corrupted by Chaos.

Even Belisarius Cawl, the Grand Master of the Mechanicus, had always researched how to resurrect Guilliman alone, only revealing his purpose upon reaching Guilliman's stasis field.

Moreover, Zhou Yun would find it even harder to gain the trust of the Astartes than Belisarius Cawl.

Cawl was at least a Grand Master of the Xie Sect, whereas Zhou Yun.

Zhou Yun grew "wings glowing with blue light" in front of the Astra Militarum.

Just knowing this fact would make the Blood Angels treat him with bolters.

Blue, wings, resurrecting a Primarch; these words combined were simply too sensitive.

"Are you leaving?" Xiang Xiang Leina asked Zhou Yun, looking at him with some worry.

Zhou Yun had told her before that when the Astra Militarum's battle reached its end, he would leave.

Now was that time.

Having endured successive attacks by the Tyranid swarm, the great beasts, and the Hive Mind, few of the Cadians who had followed General Droste to Asford remained.

Asford as a whole had almost become a graveyard for the Cadians.

And the remaining Cadian warriors, after suffering the Hive Mind's psychic attacks, had developed cracks in their will, their combat effectiveness far less than before.

The High Hive was inevitably untenable; they must tighten their lines further, using the Sigang of the Spire Hive as their final stronghold.

Xiang Xiang Leina fell silent for a moment.

She did not say anything about leaving with Zhou Yun.

In this galaxy, from the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang down to the smallest worker, everyone has their duty.

Xiang Xiang Leina's duty was to command the remaining members of the Ark Gang, assisting the residents of Asford and the Astra Militarum in their evacuation.

This duty was heavy; she could not abandon it.

And Zhou Yun was unwilling to take her along, after all, the Divination Machine only guaranteed his own safety.

"May the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang protect, may Sanguinius protect." Xiang Xiang Leina placed her hand on her chest and performed the Aquila salute to Zhou Yun.

Zhou Yun nodded slightly, a smile appearing on his lips: "I'll buy you melon seeds for you next time."

Before Xiang Xiang Leina could react, Zhou Yun walked toward the exit of the Astra Militarum stronghold.

He saw General Droste sitting there.

At this moment, General Droste looked more like a veteran over a hundred years old.

The aging previously suppressed by life-extension surgery had now erupted all at once on General Droste's gray-white, wrinkled face.

Zhou Yun looked at General Droste; their gazes met.

In General Droste's eyes, in his will, there was a hideous wound.

It was a trauma caused by the Hive Mind, severing General Droste's will and soul.

The current General Droste was like a ghost from the past, showing no trace of the resolute general he once was.

But Zhou Yun could vaguely see.

Even the powerful psychic powers of the Hive Minds had not completely broken this old veteran.

He was still holding on; even with his soul and will shattered, he was still holding on.

"Thank you." General Droste spoke no more, simply nodding at Zhou Yun.

Zhou Yun, however, stopped in front of General Droste.

"If you return to Cadia, remember to tell Lord Creed to be careful; Abaddon might not play fair and just drop the Blackstone Fortress down."

"Oh, if you see Abaddon himself, remember to tell him the era of the Primarchs is not over yet."

Hearing Zhou Yun's words, General Droste was momentarily stunned.

But before he could ask further, Zhou Yun's figure had already vanished at the stronghold's entrance.

The pitch-black void was torn apart by blood-red light.

The Blood Angels' flagship, the Sword of Vengeance, crossed the dark shadows of the Warp and pierced into the Mortis system.

More warships followed the Sword of Vengeance, warping into realspace.

The moment they entered the system, the weapon arrays on the ships began to roar, announcing their arrival.

For the Tyranid biomass warships loitering in the Mortis system were displeased by anyone disturbing their meal.

Enemy fire created waves upon the void shields.

The Blood Angels' firepower tore through the chitinous carapaces of the swarm.

Dante stood on the vast observation deck, gazing at the scene before him.

The Imperial Navy no longer existed; Dante could see the burning wreckage of its ships occasionally drifting through the starry sky.

The garrisons within the Lord's Ring had also fallen silent; their resistance seemed to have ended completely.

The Leviathan Hive Fleet's bio-ships filled the entire system like locusts; even the light of those two blasphemous twin stars seemed to have dimmed somewhat.

In just three days, the shadow of the Leviathan had covered the entire system.

However, Dante knew that the Astra Militarum and the Sisters of Battle who had arrived in this system first were still holding out on the ground.

On Lysios, Grand Sororita Magda was still leading the local nomads in battle.

And on Asford, the battle situation on Asford had exceeded Dante's expectations.

The local gang organizations and the Astra Militarum had joined forces, actually blocking the swarm in the Underhive.

A large number of local residents were thus able to survive and were being sent to Melos Port in the Spire Hive.

But Dante knew what he should do.

Rescue the survivors to the best of his ability, prevent the Tyranids from acquiring massive biomass, and ideally find a way to inflict wounds upon the Tyranid swarm within the Hades System to reduce the pressure on Baal in the future. But this was difficult.

And beyond that,

his Blood Angel Apothecary—the unique pharmacist of the Blood Angels—brought Dante a possibility.

According to the High Blood Angel Apothecary Corbulo,

on Governor Augustus Flax of the planet Asford, there might lie a method to cure the Thirst and the Black Rage,

for the Flax family's genes seemed to have undergone a unique mutation under the light of the Crimson Twin Stars, allowing one to overcome hallucinations and see through falsehoods,

and this ability had reached its peak in Augustus Flax himself,

so the High Blood Angel Apothecary Corbulo believed this could help the Blood Angels overcome their twin afflictions.

Gabriel Seth, Chapter Master of the Flesh Tearers, a successor chapter that had arrived in the Hades System alongside the Blood Angels, dismissed this with contempt.

This Blood Angels successor chapter, long plagued by the Crimson Thirst and the Black Rage, no longer believed it could be overcome.

Yet Dante had to hold onto hope.

He himself felt the temptation of the Thirst and the Black Rage at all times; he knew this was certainly not a gift from the Gene-Father, nor should it be the fate of the Blood Angels' sons.

"My lord."

Kailean, a Sergeant of the Blood Angels clad in Terminator armor, stood behind Dante.

This power armor, forged from blood-red ceramite, contrasted with the golden armor Dante wore.

Especially since Kailean wore no helmet, while Dante wore a golden mask carved with the face of Sanguinius.

Kailean knelt before Dante—

"Enough!" Dante interrupted Kailean's salute: "I am not in the mood for this."

Dante turned his head; he could also sense a slight emotion in Kailean's heart.

This emotion was because the first wave of assault teams was currently landing in the city of Vardia on the planet Asford.

!. Read

As a Sergeant, Kailean ought to have supervised the mission to land on the planetary capital.

This was his duty and the honor he ought to enjoy.

"You are still a member of the Vanguard."

Dante patted the shoulder of Kailean's Terminator armor.

Upon his shoulder plate was a pure white Terminator cross.

It was said that the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang's own Terminator armor had been shattered in that battle where the Archangel died,

and those fragments were embedded within every Terminator cross, just like the one on Kailean's shoulder.

May the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang protect. Dante thought thus.

If the things Mephiston saw were real, then we indeed need the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang's protection.

"Your target remains the city of Vardia, but the mission is different."

Dante spoke, weighing his words:

"Augustus Flax. Our Blood Angel Apothecary tells me he is useful to us."

Upon hearing the four words "Blood Angel Apothecary," Kailean immediately wore an expression of understanding.

What the Blood Angel Apothecaries sought was no secret, but Kailean clearly harbored doubt, doubting whether that Governor truly still lived?

Dante was certain he still lived; this came from Mephiston's divination.

But the result of the divination also foretold that two other forces were approaching Governor Augustus Flax.

"Bring him back, or his offspring, his corpse, or a blood sample will suffice."

Dante said:

"Speed is of the essence, brothers. You will use teleportation technology to arrive directly in the city of Vardia."

"As you wish, my lord." Sergeant Kailean bowed his head humbly and said.

Dante nodded slightly; this operation was entirely secret. He had avoided every factor that might expose the mission.

He hoped that Sergeant Kailean and his Terminator brothers would successfully find Augustus Flax before the other two unknown forces discovered them.

"My sons are arriving soon."

The winged figure within the Bai Guang spoke to Zhou Yun:

"It is the Terminator elite of the First Company, led personally by Sergeant Kailean."

"If you do not hurry, they will beat you to it."

Zhou Yun stood on the Tribune Street, which overlooked the entire Governor's Palace, gazing down upon the entire city of Vardia.

As the Astra Militarum began to withdraw, the Tyranid swarm also began to further occupy this city.

Countless small creatures crawled through the city, devouring everything within.

Spore chimneys erupted from the backs of the Tyranid beasts, toxic crimson fog shrouded the entire city, and the grotesque Tyranid Hive Towers reached the clouds like the sky-high giant vines of a fairy tale.

Except that there led to a Tyranid bio-ship, not a goose that laid golden eggs.

"You are just selling out your sons' movements like this?" Zhou Yun asked teasingly.

"Because Augustus Flax cannot cure the Thirst or the Black Rage. If the Thirst could be easily cured, I would have succeeded in the 30k era."

"And the Black Rage... the cause of the Black Rage is extremely complex."

Hearing the words of the winged figure within the Bai Guang, Zhou Yun nodded gently, then released the Seeker Staff in his hand.

"Augustus Flax," Zhou Yun murmured.
