Chapter 205

~10 min read 1,810 words

Inside the secret dungeon, the dull mechanical sound was echoing incessantly in the room shrouded in bright firelight, like the chirping of insects on a midsummer night.

Seth observed this room silently.

This room wrapped in machinery was cast into the shape of a small chapel. Pale marble carved out countless intricate patterns, each pattern symbolizing a Chapter Master or Chief Librarian who had passed away.

Entwined among the patterns were even more exquisite reliefs, outlining the nine pure Primarchs: Lion El'Jonson, Leman Russ, Roboute Guilliman, Vulkan, Corax, Rogal Dorn, Ferrus Ma Nusi, Jaghatai Khan, and the greatest Sanguinius.

Sanguinius's statue was a head taller than the other Primarchs, arranged in the most conspicuous position, between the Lion and Roboute Guilliman.

The icons of these Primarchs all depicted a part of their lives worth remembering: the Lion chasing the Night Haunter in a starship, Guilliman floating among the stars outside Calth, Vulkan standing on Macragge as pure as ever, Jaghatai Khan shouting his father's greatness, Rogal Dorn appearing confident as if he always had a backup plan, Ferrus Ma Nusi having his head cut off, Leman Russ breaking Magnus's back...

It is said that this great carving was personally designed by Sanguinius before his death, a dual embodiment of his prophecy and artistic abilities, a memorial by Sanguinius of the most memorable deeds of his eight loyal brothers, and carved by the warriors of the Blood Angels Chapter after Sanguinius's death.

And above Sanguinius's carving, the stained-glass window depicting the Archangel's glory filtered the artificial light, letting colorful light spots sprinkle on the Librarian Dreadnought Malest, plating a layer of radiance on this ancient warrior who only had remains left.

Every Astartes knew that a Dreadnought was the monument of the chapter. Some warriors were so precious that even if they fell on the battlefield, their heavily wounded bodies would be placed in a Dreadnought iron sarcophagus, serving the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang for a longer time, until a second death took their lives.

The inside of a Dreadnought sarcophagus was so cold and lonely that even the most loyal warriors would feel fear, so most of the time Dreadnought warriors were in slumber. But Malest was not. This former Chief Librarian was always awake, enduring the cold and pain inside the sarcophagus to guard this secret dungeon.

Guarding those sacred or blasphemous things. Seth's gaze couldn't help but shift to the stasis field behind the Dreadnought warrior.

Fifteen scrolls as large as a person were suspended in the field, firmly protected by lead seals. Those were the Sanguinius scrolls, scrolls personally written by Sanguinius, recording all the prophecies he had seen before his death.

Seth's heart rippled for a moment. He felt his two hearts almost filled with a sacredness, and the blood energy churning in his heart seemed to be weakened.

It seemed that those dark parts of him were retreating in the Sanguinius fire contained in the scrolls.

Seth turned his head and looked at the Dreadnought warrior Malest. This ancient warrior was examining Zhou Yun and Mephiston standing before him.

"You came for Sanguinius?" Malest questioned.

I don't know if it was Seth's illusion, but when Malest said the name Sanguinius, the blood energy in the surrounding air seemed to become even richer.

This blood energy seemed to be something even the Sanguinius fire could not completely clear. Seth stretched out his hand slightly to cover his head.

An irrepressible restlessness and anger were lingering in the depths of Seth's soul. The scene in his eyes swayed slightly, as if in this small chapel of Angel Fortress, and as if on the Vengeful Spirit.

The figures of Zhou Yun and Mephiston before him swayed, as if one had turned into a twisted Warp dark god, and the other had turned into Erebus with scriptures written all over his face.

"I came for the promise with Sanguinius."

Zhou Yun nodded slightly, his tone carrying deep sincerity, his fingers passing over the Hot-Acting Clapperboard & Robot Director without leaving a trace. Even Seth to the side seemed to be infected by this sincerity, but Zhou Yun's next words...

"I came to resurrect Sanguinius," Zhou Yun said his purpose without hesitation.

The Blood God's gaze had already been cast over. Once Zhou Yun stepped into the tunnel leading to Sanguinius's tomb, the Blood God would determine Zhou Yun's goal.

There was no need for cover-up or caution anymore.

In an instant, the bloody smell in the air seemed to condense into substance.

The ancient sage Malest suddenly retreated a step. The Librarians and Flesh Tearer warriors who followed were all frozen in place, and Seth was also too stunned to speak. Anger, endless anger surged from Seth's spirit and flesh at the same time.

His eyes were covered by heavy blood mist. Seth was angry, the world was angry, and everything seemed to be weeping blood.

In the blood, Seth saw darkness, saw the cold and dark Warp essence behind Zhou Yun's material shell.

Saw that in the future, Zhou Yun would pull the Archangel's shell, corrupting the Archangel's soul with blasphemous power, making that pure Sanguinius fire stained with an inexplicable metallic blue.

"How dare you!!!!!" A beast's roar sounded from Seth's mouth. His anger was almost irrepressible.

Above the Brass Citadel, this Warp firmament interwoven with orange and red was brewing a storm full of anger.

Bloodthirsters let out roars, Bloodletters screamed and beat war drums, and those Khorne servants waging eternal war on the shattered land also stretched out their hands to beat their chests.

Anger! Anger! Anger!

The Blood God was angry!

Khorne on the throne let out a roar that shook the entire Warp. On battlefields across the galaxy in the reality universe, anger surged out of thin air in the hearts of countless mortals. The Khorne berserkers on Cadia fell into deeper madness, the scarlet scar above Baal shone as if weeping blood, and the swarms let out ear-piercing roars.

The Blood God was furious, not because of Ka'Bandha's death.

Ka'Bandha lost in a war, even if this caused Him to lose a little power and permanently lose a Bloodthirster, the Blood God didn't care. It didn't matter who shed blood, even if it was He Himself who shed blood, it didn't matter.

As long as there was bloodshed, the Blood God would only praise it.

The Blood God was angry that that little angel, the cursed human Hua Hua Hua Di Huang, and the new god gradually being born in the Warp had deceived Him.

Cadia attracted His gaze, the swarm's shadow covered His sight, and the human Hua Hua Hua Di Huang's Legion of the Damned was marching on the border of His realm.

These all made His attention to Baal decrease, allowing that little angel and the new god to sneakily hide from His sight.

That little angel, that little angel who was both the cause of Sanguinius's birth and the fruit of Sanguinius's death, tried to escape from His palm, tried to return to the material universe, reappearing as a Primarch.

And that new god intervened, even having initially corrupted the little angel.

In this, there was only trickery and deception. They used all kinds of tricks to escape the Blood God's sight, avoiding real battle. The Blood God felt angry about this.

But bloodshed could not be avoided, war could not be escaped, and only by bloodshed could a real winner be decided.

The Blood God let out a war roar.

A part of His power was being held back by Cadia, and also...

The Blood God raised His eyes to look into the distance.

On the border of His realm, a cold and dark sun was hanging low. Countless daemons belonging to Him were wailing, their bodies burning with flames, and an army like the dead was marching under the light of the cold and dark sun.

The Blood God had to use a large part of His power to deal with Him.

The Blood God's fury turned into substance, like scarlet blood blades cutting through the barrier between reality and the material world, stabbing into the Baal tri-star system. However...

The Blood God let out a war roar full of anger. The burning blood blades were blocked on the way into reality.

There were very few existences in the material world that could resist the Blood God's might, even if it was power consumed by Cadia and consumed by the human Hua Hua Hua Di Huang.

But on Baal, there happened to be such an existence born in the material universe that could block the Blood God's power.

A shadow full of greed and hunger suddenly rose from reality, layers upon layers like black mist gathered by billions of little insects.

Predator! Plunderer! Competitor!

The Hive Mind let out a sharp cry, blocking the Blood God's power.

He could still distinguish priorities.

He, like the Blood God, craved Baal, craved Sanguinius.

But what He pursued was Sanguinius's shell and gene sequence in the material universe.

If Sanguinius was resurrected, He at least still had hope of obtaining these two things.

But if Sanguinius was corrupted and ascended by the Blood God, then there would not even be a material structure, only a pile of Warp bodies that could not be eaten.

At that time, the Hive Mind would have no chance to get Sanguinius's gene sequence.

The Hive Mind understood that at this time, He had to step up.

Just the moment the Hive Mind collided with the Blood God, eighty-eight thousand eight hundred node creatures died instantly, along with the lower-level Tyranid creatures linked to the node creatures.

On the battlefield of Baal, Dante looked at the scene before him blankly.

In the swarm, first one Tyranid node creature after another died inexplicably, their heads falling with a bang, as if cut by an invisible blade across their necks.

Then the lower-level Tyranid creatures controlled by these node creatures also fell one after another like the node creatures.

In just eight seconds, nearly a third of the Tyranid creatures on the battlefield had died inexplicably, and they were still dying constantly.

The number of Tyranid swarms currently attacking the void shield was far greater than the first wave of attacks on the moat, and the death of one-third made the pressure on the Blood Angels suddenly decrease a lot.

Dante could even see little sparks bursting in the sky again, which was the afterglow produced when the swarm's biological ships died.

Dante showed some confusion. From various traces, this seemed to be the Blood God's power.

But how could the Blood God be kind enough to take action for the Blood Angels?

"Or is this also the might of that Saint Doraemon?" Dante couldn't help but mutter in a low voice.
