Chapter 275: Loyalty Beyond Words! War Master!

~9 min read 1,782 words

"Since the Aeldari Death God coming to kill you is not to your liking, may I do it instead?"

A voice suddenly rang out in the void; Kaldor was startled, yet no matter how he searched, he could not find the source of the voice.

At that moment, Captain Calein of the Blood Angels swung the Hammer of Baal in his hands and crashed into Kaldor,

The sacred warhammer from Baal and the sacred power fist of an Ultramarine collided with each other,

Even wearing the Gauntlets of Ultramar, Captain Calein was still slightly outmatched in strength, his attack blocked by Kaldor's twin fists,

Although this was partly because Captain Calein had not fully unleashed the power of the Gauntlets of Ultramar in order to wield a weapon, it was still enough to show how tremendous the strength of this Ultramarine Chapter Master's fists truly was.

"Blood Angels!"

Kaldor let out a low, furious roar; the Ultramarine fists let out a burst of thunderous crack, and the bolters within began to unleash their fire upon Captain Calein,

The bamboo-copter on Captain Calein's head jerked sharply, lifting his body in a leap; the unleashed bolter rounds only landed on his heavy Terminator power armour.

"Why are you involved in this?" Kaldor growled the question.

Calein barely managed to block Kaldor's rapidly pursuing fists,

"For hope," Calein answered. "We were inspired, so that one brother of Sanguinius might walk upon the earth once more."

At these words, a vein bulged on Kaldor's head,

"If it were you, what would you choose? Would you let two profane Aeldari defile your primarch's remains?" Kaldor demanded in a harsh voice.

Calein's expression twisted slightly as well; he truly could not say that he would,

"But you had another choice — to let that, let Lord Saint Doraemon grant Ji Li Man death, and bring him back?"

"Doraemon? What the hell is that?!"

Kaldor let out a low roar, his fist slamming heavily into Captain Calein's chest,

The power armour on the company captain's chest caved in at once.

"It is hope," Calein insisted through gritted teeth.

At the same time, the elite of the Ultramarines 1st Company and the Grey Knights 3rd Brotherhood swiftly launched an attack into the Expeditionary Fleet,

Grand Master Valdus of the 3rd Brotherhood nearly swung the warhammer in his hand and pounced to slay the Chief Librarian Belisarius Cawl,

Yet Digris flashed his figure and abruptly intercepted Valdus,

The Chief Librarian of the Ultramarines and the most revered Grand Master of the 3rd Brotherhood of the Grey Knights collided,

The clash of their psychic powers stirred up a storm and vortex of the immaterium within the sanctum,

Digris's psychic power was clearly stronger, but he did not truly wish to kill Grand Master Valdus,

Yet Grand Master Valdus struck without any restraint, every blow carrying lethal danger, and the unique psychic power swirling around his daemon-hammer also suppressed Digris's psychic gifts.

Celestyn trembled her wings as she descended from the sky, the silver longsword in her hand clashing against Grand Master Valdus's daemon-hammer,

She tried to aid Digris,

Yet the 3rd Brotherhood were the custodians of the Grey Knights' Banishment Rite; they were versed in six hundred and sixty-six banishment mantras, capable of suppressing and even banishing any warp entity,

Ten Grey Knights raised the sacred relics in their hands, roaring out the banishment mantras from the first Supreme Grand Master of the Grey Knights, Janus,

Celestyn almost immediately let out a wail; the light beyond reality upon her was suppressed, and she crashed heavily to the ground,

Soon, more Grey Knights joined the chanting of the mantras,

In an instant, even the light bursting from Digris's eyes was suppressed by the six hundred and sixty-six banishment mantras chanted by the Grey Knights.

The power within those banishment mantras even made Yvrenne cry out in surprise,

She had not expected humanity to master such formidable knowledge of the warp.

Only Zhou Yun knew clearly that these six hundred and sixty-six mantras had been written by the first Supreme Grand Master of the Grey Knights, Janus,

That Supreme Grand Master was a fusion of the loyalist Raven Alphadent and a shard of Ma Genusi's persona; his knowledge and power were contained within the Banishment Rite he had written,

These banishment mantras were precisely so powerful for that reason, becoming one of the supports upon which the Grey Knights relied to oppose all warp entities.

Yvrenne seized the moment of chaos, nearly transforming into a blur as she tried to charge toward Luo Bote Guilliman upon the Wang Zuo.

Yet the Terminator elites of the 1st Company had never relaxed their guard; they almost formed a solid wall to block Yvrenne before her,

At the same time, the Grey Knights also exerted their formidable psychic power, coordinating with a string of complex banishment incantations to form a heavy psychic shield that wrapped around Luo Bote Guilliman's body in protection.

"Lord."

Belisarius Cawl had always stood at the eye of the storm, yet he did not appear anxious; instead, he calmly whispered to Zhou Yun, who wore the Blind Spot Star beside him:

"Makado's relic is more powerful than imagined — has your strength been limited? What manner should we use to complete the mission?"

Zhou Yun sensed it briefly; the power released within the Grey Knights' mantras had indeed, to a certain extent, weakened the power Zhou Yun drew from the threefold domain of the warp,

He felt the machine-spirits around him grow somewhat weaker; the efficiency with which death provided him power had dropped considerably, and his appetite had noticeably diminished as well,

"Makado's relic?" Zhou Yun could not help but chuckle. "Perhaps it might also be Ma Genusi's relic."

The origin of the Grey Knights' gene-seed has always been a mystery, but among the candidates for their father, Ma Genusi has always been the favourite.

Yet Zhou Yun was not in a hurry; he could feel

feel that outside the sanctum, something mechanical was approaching, and could feel the void shields of Fortress Hera had shattered

A scorching, explosive roar sounded, as though a fiery meteorite had smashed into the ground,

The entire ceiling of the Sanctum of Guilliman collapsed under the impact, marble, glass, gemstones and mosaics raining down like droplets,

The thunderous crash of towering marble pillars collapsing and shattering drowned out the sounds of battle; shards of crystal, metal and glass flew out, embedding themselves in the surrounding walls, armour and ground,

A burning blue metal colossus smashed down into the sanctum from the heavens, blazing with fierce flames,

It was a Thunderhawk in Ultramarines livery!

The Thunderhawk fell, crashing heavily toward the Wang Zuo where Luo Bote Guilliman sat,

The Grey Knights guarding before the Wang Zuo roared as they raised a psychic barrier, barely exerting all their strength to fling the colossus that had plunged into the sanctum to the side,

Yet the shockwave that followed also broke their chanting, causing the shield enveloping Luo Bote Guilliman's Wang Zuo to shatter with a crash.

The Thunderhawk, burning with fierce flames, was shoved heavily aside by the Grey Knights, slamming into a marble pillar; amid a landslide-like crash it shattered the relief depicting the battle between Guilliman and Alpharius, and the ensuing explosion tore half the sanctum's wall apart.

At the same time, a terrifying shriek descended from the sky,

a flock of black legion raptors plummeted from the firmament; their black, gold, and blue interlaced power armor turned to shadows under the sunset, and with the aid of spiked jump packs, they surged into the temple,

the Terminators of the Ultramarines rapidly unleashed firepower upon the airborne foes, their bolters pouring fire upon those sons of Konrad Curze,

yet the raptors were far faster than the Ultramarines; even though most perished in mid-air, three raptors still shrieked and roared as they landed on the ground,

they carried aloft a grotesque and horrifying Blasphemy Beacon, covered in twisted metal spikes, blood, and contorted flesh, with the faint roar of demons audible within,

that beacon was instantly driven into the temple floor; a flare of purple and black exploded in the void, illuminating nearly the entire temple,

ripples surged through the Warp, and the Grey Knights attempting to re-establish their psychic shields let out a low wail,

an array of dozens of black legion Terminators instantly materialized within the temple; the Chaos Sorcerers among them began chanting blasphemous incantations in low voices, the Warp instantly grew active, the Blasphemy Beacon seemed to grow like flesh, transforming into a gate that opened, and more black legion forces poured into the hall that had just been filled with sanctity,

even beneath the veil of reality, the snarls of demons flickered into view.

The discipline and protocols of the Ultramarines quickly allowed them to reform their ranks, shifting their targets to rapidly resist the black legion's relentless assaults,

while the Grey Knights focused their minds more intently, resisting the threats beneath the veil of reality, and were powerless to sustain the Warp barrier once more.

For a moment, the pressure on the Crusade forces lessened considerably,

Belisarius Cawl, Eveleene, and the Thousand Sons Red-Armored Warrior of a Thousand Faces all watched this scene with astonishment,

for from Zhou Yun's tone just now, it seemed he had anticipated this all along.

Is this the manipulation of fate by the Warp Gods?

"Loyalty cannot be spoken of, Warmaster!"

Only Zhou Yun laughed heartily, shouting loudly at the black legion:

"Abaddon! Uncle understands you! Truly loyal people are not necessarily the Loyal Legions!"

"When the galaxy is at peace, Uncle will surely clear your name and vindicate your wrongs!"

In the original timeline, it was this Thunderhawk that crashed into the Guilliman Temple, and the black legion intervened in the battlefield at just the right moment, allowing the Crusade forces to seize the opportunity to resurrect Guilliman,

yet in the timeline where Zhou Yun interfered, it was still exactly the same,

if anyone claimed that the Chaos Five Gods had no hand behind Guilliman's resurrection, Zhou Yun would not believe it for a second.

Thinking thus, Zhou Yun silently drew the Black Sword he had snatched from Abaddon's grasp from his four-dimensional pocket,

Belisarius Cawl also immediately began to act; the troop transport behind him emitted a low hum, and together they rushed swiftly toward Wang Zuo where Luo Bote Guilliman was located,

Eveleene had intended to help Belisarius Cawl clear a path,

however, just at that moment, a cold and gloomy voice suddenly rang in her ear,

""The Reaper of Mankind"!"

"Do not let Him come to kill! Stop Him!!!"
