Chapter 34: Numerology
"I hope she isn't studying numerology." Zhou Yun blurted out instinctively.
Xiang Xiang Leina paused for a moment, blinked, and asked, "What numerology?"
"Uh..."
Zhou Yun blinked, not knowing how to explain it for a moment.
Should he tell Xiang Xiang Leina:
That numerology is a brand-new open-world adventure game independently developed by Mortarion, set in a fantasy world called the "Warp"?
That little stubborn Primarch Mortarion definitely inherited the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang's stubbornness.
Even though he had already defected to Chaos and had Nurgle and a group of Great Unclean Ones standing right in front of him, he still tried to explain the Warp using "science" like numerology.
He even went so far as to accuse others of being superstitious.
"I'm using numerology, you're using superstitious sorcery!"
"It's a profound field of study that uses mathematical logic to explain the Warp," Zhou Yun explained after taking a deep breath.
Xiang Xiang Leina couldn't help but frown and whispered, "That sounds like something blasphemous."
"The mathematician I'm talking about doesn't study such improper things."
Xiang Xiang Leina explained:
"She is an actuary in the Upper Hive who usually helps noble factories calculate accounts and studies mathematics in her spare time."
"Then how is an actuary and mathematician going to help you find a Warp engine?"
The corner of Zhou Yun's eye twitched slightly, and a bad premonition welled up in his heart.
A mathematician. Studying mathematics in this galaxy is not a safe job.
"Could it be that she calculated it through rigorous mathematical calculations?"
Could it be that she was corrupted by Tzeentch and received revelations from numbers?
Zhou Yun didn't say what he was thinking.
"Why is your head full of such blasphemous thoughts?" Xiang Xiang Leina showed a look of horror.
She hurriedly lowered her head and whispered a prayer, asking the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang to forgive her for listening to such blasphemous words.
"Her ancestor was once a flight recorder on the first colony ship of Ashford, and she has a volume of ancient flight records that have been passed down for tens of thousands of years."
Xiang Xiang Leina said to Zhou Yun:
"As long as we get that file, we can find the approximate location where the Ashford colony ship landed in the past, and we can also determine whether the Warp engine has been dismantled."
"How do you know that the actuary and navigator has that file?"
Zhou Yun frowned even tighter:
"Don't tell me it's another revelation from the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang?"
Hearing Zhou Yun's words, Xiang Xiang Leina's eyes moved slightly: "That's not it..."
The suspicion in Zhou Yun's eyes grew.
"I have a reliable source of information." Xiang Xiang Leina's voice was full of confidence.
Noticing that Zhou Yun's eyes still carried deep doubt, Xiang Xiang Leina placed her finger on the scripture tattoo on her cheek again:
"I swear to the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang that my source of information is absolutely reliable and does not come from revelations, prophecies, or Warp hallucinations."
Zhou Yun withdrew his suspicious gaze, but the doubt in his heart did not diminish at all.
"So what do you want me to do?" Zhou Yun looked at Xiang Xiang Leina and asked.
The corners of Xiang Xiang Leina's mouth curled into a smile: "I originally just wanted to entrust you to go to the Underhive and bring the Warp engine back."
"After all, you seem to have some kind of ability to transport large objects... Don't deny it, the volume and weight of that pile of automatic infantry rifles are not small."
I'm not denying it, Zhou Yun complained in his heart.
"But now, I have seen your skills. I want you to accompany me to the Upper Hive and steal that file," Xiang Xiang Leina said.
"You, go to the Upper Hive with me?"
The corners of Zhou Yun's mouth twitched.
This leader of the Fangzhou Gang always gives Zhou Yun countless things to complain about in a single sentence.
"The first question, why is it you and me together?"
"The second question, how do you plan to go to the Upper Hive?"
Zhou Yun stared at Xiang Xiang Leina and asked.
Between the Upper Hive and the Underhive, there are PDF troops stationed.
Admittedly, both Xiang Xiang Leina and Zhou Yun have a certain amount of strength, and Xiang Xiang Leina's beguiling words have an advantage against such organized troops.
But... an illegal psyker breaking into the checkpoint between the Upper Hive and the Underhive,
How is this any different from an open rebellion? What? Want to taste the iron fist of the Cadian Shock Troops?
The Imperial Guard stationed near Ashford are the famous Cadian Shock Troops.
Let alone Xiang Xiang Leina, an illegal psyker, even if a Greater Daemon of Chaos came, these Cadian supermen would dare to charge.
"Why me... because only I know the location of that file."
Xiang Xiang Leina replied, but she hesitated a bit when facing the second question.
"I'm trying to find a way to open up a channel, and there might be results soon..."
Unreliable, this woman is not reliable at all.
Zhou Yun quickly made a judgment.
The channel she mentioned is nine times out of ten smuggling into the Upper Hive.
And they are going to the Upper Hive to steal things. The security of the Upper Hive is not the same as the Underhive.
If she is caught and her identity as an illegal psyker is exposed,
Cadian iron fist warning!
"I'll pay more!" Noticing Zhou Yun's gaze, Xiang Xiang Leina said without hesitation.
Facing Zhou Yun's possible refusal, Xiang Xiang Leina chose to pay more directly.
According to her experience, as long as the money is enough, there will always be people willing to take risks.
"Your judgment of people is really..." Zhou Yun paused: "Really inaccurate."
Xiang Xiang Leina was suddenly embarrassed and stood there.
Zhou Yun looked at Xiang Xiang Leina with a calm face.
Pay more? His purpose in making money is to survive!
He touched his chin, and a thought faintly arose in his heart.
He thought of a way to go to the Upper Hive safely and legally.
"I can consider it." Zhou Yun changed the subject and suddenly said.
Coming out of the Fangzhou Gang's stronghold, Zhou Yun walked on the crowded streets of the Hive City, thinking with his head down.
"You seem to be troubled. Do you need to use the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang's Tarot to calculate it?"
As he spoke, the winged figure in the white light took out a deck of cards glowing with white light.
Zhou Yun glanced at him and thought for a while before saying: "Is there really no trace of Chaos corruption on that woman?"
"No, but her psychic reaction is very strange," said the winged figure in the white light.
"Strange?" Zhou Yun raised his eyebrows.
"Yes... her psychic potential doesn't seem to be completely innate, but rather deliberately induced."
Listening to the words of the winged figure in the white light, Zhou Yun fell into a brief contemplation.
The winged figure in the white light gently vibrated its wings and asked Zhou Yun, who was thinking:
"What are your thoughts? That child has not been corrupted by Chaos, but it is indeed a bit abnormal."
"Me?"
Hearing the words of the winged figure in the white light, a brilliant smile appeared on the corner of Zhou Yun's mouth.
"I'm learning from Lage," he replied with a smile in his tone.
"Lage... that Hive City gang member?" The winged figure in the white light was stunned for a moment: "What are you learning from him?"
"Being a middleman!"
Zhou Yun replied with a chuckle. His footsteps stopped at a fork in the road, in front of the magnificent statue of Sanguinius.
To be precise, he stopped at the entrance of the Spear Tavern.
