Chapter 421

~10 min read 1,856 words

Zhou Yun made himself the Inquisitorial Representative through a single decree, and theoretically, the one who suffered the greatest loss of power was Er Si, who served as the Inquisitorial Representative.

After all, the position of High Lord should theoretically belong to the leaders of each important institution. Previously, the Inquisition lacked a unified leader, which was why Er Si, as the Inquisitorial Representative, was needed to serve as a High Lord.

Now that there was Zhou Yun as the Inquisitorial Representative, Er Si, as the Inquisitorial Representative, naturally lost the meaning of her existence.

So, did Er Si feel sad about this?

Not at all; Er Si even felt secretly delighted.

She originally had a remaining term of three years, during which she would have to continue working in the hell that was the High Lords' council, and after three years, she might even be voted back in by other Inquisitors.

Now it was fine; the position of High Lord belonged to Zhou Yun, and Er Si could retire early. She could go to the galaxy right now and slaughter the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang's enemies to her heart's content.

Ha! Xenos, daemons, traitors, and heretics, your dear Mother Er Si is back!

Er Si even couldn't help but reveal a smile due to her joy.

Then, Er Si felt a gaze cast over toward her.

Zhou Yun turned his head and stared at Er Si silently.

Er Si shuddered all over.

With a speed that made Er Si marvel, Zhou Yun pulled a piece of parchment from his four-dimensional pocket, quickly signed and stamped it, and then shoved it into Er Si's hands.

Er Si didn't even have time to react.

She lowered her head blankly and looked at the parchment in her hand.

"In the name of the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang, Inquisitorial Representative Zhou Yun, having stepped into the Inquisition with his left foot, is hereby relieved of his duties as Inquisitorial Representative, and the duties of Inquisitorial Representative shall be assumed by Cleopatra Er Si."

Below was the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang's signature.

Er Si opened her mouth slightly, looking at the parchment in her hand in horror.

She raised her head to look at Zhou Yun, who was smiling. Zhou Yun nodded at her gently with an encouraging expression on his face, as if he were saying to Er Si, "You can do it."

How could it be like this?!

Er Si felt vexed, vexed that she had been so smug just a moment ago.

She should have just snuck out of this archive room directly, letting Zhou Yun ignore her existence; that way, the position of acting Inquisitorial Representative might have been dumped on the Fortress Master instead.

She had missed the chance to retire early and was forced to continue being trapped in the hell of the High Lords for three years. Wait?!

Er Si suddenly realized something and looked fiercely at the parchment in her hand.

Her body twitched violently, only to see a corner of the parchment clearly written: "The duties of Inquisitorial Representative shall be assumed by Cleopatra Er Si, and this acting position is a lifetime appointment."

This parchment instantly turned into a noose around her neck, and a wave of suffocation and dizziness swept over Er Si's entire body.

If she hadn't been a battle-hardened Inquisitor, she probably would have fainted right then and there.

Just at this moment, the Fortress Master of the Inquisition looked at Er Si.

"So, my lord, should we immediately notify the other Inquisitors in the galaxy?"

"At the next High Lords' meeting, will you be attending as the Inquisitorial Representative or as the Inquisitorial Representative?"

"How shall we inform the other Grand Inquisitors, Grey Knights, and Deathwatch of the change in your position?"

"There are also some documents that require your immediate review."

The Inquisition Fortress Master said to Er Si in his signature dry voice.

Er Si suddenly felt that it would have been better if she had just fainted.

Dust flew in the Imperial Palace, and six massive cranes rumbled, shaking Tiruien's ears until they ached unbearably.

Every time a High Lords' meeting was held, Tiruien always felt that he was not actually the Imperial Viceroy or the Chief Bureaucrat of the Senate, but an ordinary Hive World foreman struggling on the front lines of a construction site.

Every time a High Lords' meeting was held, the Grand Council Chamber had to be dismantled and rebuilt; the ceiling had to be completely removed, and the small gardens around it had to be torn down to make room for those large machines.

This was, of course, not because the High Lords were extravagant, but because one of the High Lords was so unique and so massive.

A massive and heavy machine, almost as tall as the High Lords' Grand Council Chamber and with a base half the size of the chamber, was hoisted by a full six large cranes and lowered from the ceiling into the High Lords' council chamber.

In an instant, the ground trembled, and Tiruien almost fell.

Fortunately, a hand reached out from Tiruien's blind spot and gently steadied him.

"Thank you." Tiruien smiled and nodded in thanks to the person in his blind spot.

Then, the Sages of the Adeptus Mechanicus entered the council chamber and began to install the outer parts of this massive machine.

Tiruien often worried that if these Sages hid some bombs or the like inside this massive machine, they might be able to send all the High Lords to meet the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang. Perhaps no bombs were needed; the firepower of this machine itself was probably enough to rival a Knight Titan and could tear the High Lords' flesh and blood bodies into pieces. The Grand Master of the Officio Assassinorum, Fadix, might be able to survive.

Fortunately, the situation Tiruien worried about had not occurred in the eighty years he had served as Imperial Viceroy.

The Sages of the Adeptus Mechanicus installed the outer parts of the machine and plugged the cables into the back of the dwarf with two faces.

That was the terminal of the Fabricator General of Mars, used to handle communication with ordinary people.

After doing all this, the Sages exited the council chamber without saying a word.

For a moment, it seemed that only Tiruien, the dwarf with two faces, and the massive machine remained in the entire council chamber.

"Lord Ude Udia Laski." Tiruien performed a light Aquila sign; his etiquette was flawless.

But the dwarf with two faces said in a cold tone, "Please call me Uula, Lord Tiruien."

"Do not think that because of Saint Doraemon's favor toward you, you can humiliate me and not address me by the name Saint Doraemon bestowed upon me."

Tiruien's expression stiffened slightly, and then he lowered his head slightly to apologize.

Then Tiruien spoke toward his blind spot, "Lord Harlequin, please clear the surroundings."

An Aeldari Harlequin dressed in gaudy colors took off the blind-spot star on his chest, bowed slightly to Tiruien, and then disappeared into the light and shadow.

A moment later, some low wails sounded from the hidden corners around them; the spies lurking in the surroundings had all been cleared by that Harlequin.

"Xenos." Uula said with disdain.

"But they are reliable, very excellent spies and scouts, and look at their skulls; it's not strange that they are a human subspecies, right?" Tiruien said with a smile.

"Are you teaching me biology and xenology? Tiruien?"

Uula was amused by Tiruien's words.

"You may not know that I hold three biological sage titles: Neuro-Biological Sage, Genetic Biological Sage, and Xenological Biological Sage."

"I can tell you very clearly that Aeldari are xenos. Although their skulls have a formal similarity to humans, their materials, functions, and evolutionary paths are completely different from humans. More importantly, from a historical perspective, Aeldari existed long before humans ascended to the stars, so they cannot be abhumans."

"This is the conclusion of tens of thousands of years of biological and xenological research on Mars, and it is common knowledge for every biological sage."

"But I heard from the Harlequins that it was Lord Saint Doraemon who believed they were abhumans..." Tiruien hesitated for a moment and said.

"Then the biological sages were wrong; Aeldari are indeed abhumans." Uula immediately changed his tune and said.

Tiruien couldn't help but laugh softly.

"Then didn't Lord Saint Doraemon ask you to make your size smaller?" he asked.

"There are no conditions for that on Terra; I will undergo the modification later when I accompany Lord Saint Doraemon to Mars."

Uula said while sizing up Tiruien.

"What about you? This flesh and blood body of yours is too inferior; how can you better serve Saint Doraemon?"

"Come with me to Mars in a while; I will arrange a perfect modification for you, allowing you to obtain a body that can work continuously for five hundred years..."

"Spare me." Tiruien refused in a panic, and then stiffly and awkwardly changed the subject, "Let's talk about some serious matters."

"Who is Saint Doraemon's enemy, and who is Saint Doraemon's loyal servant?" Uula asked coldly.

"The Director of the Administratum, the Minister of the Adeptus Arbites, and the High Admiral of the Navy; these three are the pillars of the conservative faction, and they are our enemies."

"The Inquisitorial Representative, the Master of the Adeptus Astra Telepathica, and the newly appointed Ecclesiarch are our people; of course, Lord Guilliman himself is too."

"The Rogue Trader Representative has been relieved of his duties, and now the Canoness Superior of the Adepta Sororitas has filled his position; he is also our person."

"The Navigator Ambassador supports reform, but Lord Guilliman believes he is too radical and has already asked him to resign; the position has not yet been filled."

"The previous Master of the Astronomican passed away, and the Adeptus Astronomica was nearly wiped out in an attempt to relight the Astronomican; his position has not yet been filled."

"Then there are the Custodians; they theoretically remain neutral, will not express their opinions, and maintain a stance of detachment from the Empire... but I believe Lord Trajann leans toward the Primarch and Saint Doraemon."

"Finally, there is the Officio Assassinorum; you know, since Vangorich, the Officio Assassinorum has always maintained a static state, only casting abstentions in the High Lords' council."

"The Administratum, the Adeptus Arbites, and the High Admiral of the Navy are easy to solve." Uula said calmly.

"Oh?" Tiruien couldn't help but want to know what high opinion Uula had.

"The ship carrying the High Admiral of the Navy happens to have a malfunction, crashes onto Terra, and then happens to smash into the Adeptus Arbites' judgment hall, smashing the Minister of the Adeptus Arbites to death."

Uula said as follows.

"I heard that the Director of the Administratum, Irtu, trusts you more; if you can make him happen to visit the Adeptus Arbites at this time, then we can solve all three at once."

Tiruien opened his mouth slightly.
