Chapter 436: Fortunately, I Am a Comic Relief Character
Zhou Yun, wearing a bamboo dragonfly and relying on the effect of the Adaptation Lamp, stood firm in the void, watching the drifting steel fragments.
How could such a large-scale disaster suddenly occur in the Steel Ring? Did a starship lose control and crash into the Steel Ring?
Malfunction? Accident? Or an attack?
If an attack, who launched it? The Black Legion? The Chaos Gods? Some xenos? Or even from within the Empire itself?
And what was the purpose of this attack? To strike directly near Mars?
To interrupt the Unyielding Expedition's progress? These losses were indeed great, but not enough to cripple them.
Attacking Mars? Destroying Mars's production capacity? Or releasing the Dragon of Mars? But such an attack still fell short.
Or was it targeting Zhou Yun himself? That would be too far-fetched; in the worst-case scenario, Zhou Yun could simply use the Anywhere Door to flee.
Zhou Yun frowned tightly, truly unable to fathom the reason behind the opponent's actions.
While thinking, Zhou Yun quickly pulled the Seeker Staff from his four-dimensional pocket.
With such a huge disaster, don't tell me my pet Psyker Ogryn has been killed.
Although he muttered this in his heart, Zhou Yun was actually not too worried about Xiang Xiang Leina.
Xiang Xiang Leina's psychic skills were indeed terrible; so terrible that even Kaela Prinn, the Steward of the Astronomican, one of Terra's strongest mortal psykers, and the Dean of the Scholastica Psykana, could not teach Xiang Xiang Leina, and nearly suffered a heart attack from angering her.
But Xiang Xiang Leina's psychic stats were truly high; combined with high-efficiency pills and a portable Jin Zita, even if Xiang Xiang Leina relied purely on smashing with a psychic hammer, even a normal Greater Daemon could not withstand it.
Moreover, Zhou Yun had previously given Xiang Xiang Leina a bottle of Siegfried Bath Essence; as long as she used that item, Xiang Xiang Leina would directly gain half an hour of immortality.
The possibility of Xiang Xiang Leina meeting an accident was low.
"Xiang Xiang Leina," Zhou Yun murmured softly, gently tossing aside the staff in his hand.
The Seeker Staff spun once in the void, pointing nowhere.
The corner of Zhou Yun's eye twitched slightly.
This meant Xiang Xiang Leina no longer existed in this world.
Either she was dead, or she had entered the Warp, the Webway, or some other pocket dimension.
But it didn't matter; even if Xiang Xiang Leina was dead, it didn't matter.
Zhou Yun was the master of the Domain of Erosion and Destruction.
As long as he found Xiang Xiang Leina's corpse, and as long as Xiang Xiang Leina's soul had not yet been dragged into the Warp, Zhou Yun only needed to raise his hand to resurrect Xiang Xiang Leina.
Even if Xiang Xiang Leina was completely dead, leaving no soul behind, it didn't matter. As long as a fragment of her body remained, Zhou Yun could use the Time Cloth.
But deep in his heart, Zhou Yun couldn't help but feel a jolt.
His expression turned somewhat gloomy, and he vaguely sensed something.
Zhou Yun quickly took the Truth-Seeker Divination Machine from his four-dimensional pocket.
"Xiang Xiang Leina is already dead."
Zhou Yun asked the Truth-Seeker Divination Machine in a low tone.
A red circle jumped up, hovering in mid-air, confirming Zhou Yun's guess.
"The person who killed Xiang Xiang Leina completely destroyed Xiang Xiang Leina's body, leaving no trace."
The red circle jumped again, confirming Zhou Yun's guess once more.
Zhou Yun felt naked malice and targeting.
The person who killed Xiang Xiang Leina clearly did not want Zhou Yun to resurrect Xiang Xiang Leina; they wanted Xiang Xiang Leina's death to be total and irreversible.
The veins on half his face bulged and throbbed; his teeth chattered from emotional turmoil; the blood vessels at the corners of his eyes protruded, hideous and terrifying.
Since coming to this galaxy, Zhou Yun had never felt the emotion of anger surge so clearly within his soul.
When he first arrived in this galaxy, he found joy in bitterness; later, as his strength, status, and influence grew, and more items were exchanged, Zhou Yun had even begun to forget the true nature of this galaxy.
Now, a group of people hiding in the shadows proved to Zhou Yun through naked targeting and naked provocation.
This galaxy is dark and full of base malice.
Who is it? Who did this?
Zhou Yun's face was hideous and terrifying; he had already guessed the answer in his heart.
The primary villain in the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang's prophecy.
Upon an altar covered in bloody corpses, Erebus enjoyed closing his eyes, feeling the anger constantly surging from the Warp.
That One had been provoked; That One had realized the darkness and chaos of this galaxy, and recognized the fickleness and malice of fate.
The Warp responded to That One's emotions; fallen, twisted, and extreme emotions were constantly rising within the Warp.
Erebus had once again completed his mission.
Just as he had once pushed Kharn into chaos and darkness, Erebus successfully replicated his past success; by severing a link between That One and the Material Universe, he caused That One to surge with more extreme, angry, and dark emotions, bringing That One closer to the Warp.
Next, Erebus only needed to infiltrate That One's side, coax him with gentle words, just as he once coaxed Abaddon to send Horus into the Serpent Temple, coax him to accept more of his power, and then——————
Suddenly, Erebus sensed something was wrong.
The extreme emotions surging from That One gradually took on a fixed form.
There was no despair, no darkness, no self-pity; only anger, pure anger.
And this anger had directionality, as if That One knew exactly who had pushed all this.
"Erebus." A roar filled with anger rose from the Warp.
That One's anger itself stirred the waves within the Warp; a portion of the Warp torrent went berserk and, following That One's anger, surged directly toward Erebus.
"Pah!!!" Erebus hurriedly severed the ritual, cutting off his deep connection with the Warp.
But he was still struck directly by the backlash of Warp power, feeling his liver and gallbladder crack, spitting blood from his mouth.
If not for the blessings bestowed by the Four Gods in the past still protecting Erebus, Erebus would likely have been burst apart by the waves of the Warp raised by that anger just now.
"Why? Why would That One know I did this?"
Erebus clutched his painful body, screaming in near-fear.
Zhou Yun exhaled a deep breath of turbid air, suppressing the anger that kept expanding within his heart.
This anger would not vanish; it would only accumulate within Zhou Yun's body until it was vented upon that primary culprit.
"Dare to kill me? Outrageous!"
That primary culprit had shown Zhou Yun the darkness of this galaxy in an extreme and malicious manner.
Yet, although the galaxy was dark,
"Fortunately, I am a comedic character."
Zhou Yun reached his hand into the fourth-dimensional pocket.
Xiang Leina felt her soul bathed in a warm, gentle light.
She vaguely felt her will crossing time and space itself, shuttling through everything that would happen in the future and the past, stepping into a perfect timeline about to close the loop.
Along that timeline, Xiang Leina's soul flowed to the extinction of the universe.
She first perceived a deep, dark, self-destructive emotion rising; a pitch-black sun slowly rose in the thirtieth millennium, using the souls of vengeance as an altar, while the Dark King rose with Horus, the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang, and all of humanity as sacrifices.
Then, in order, the mechanical chorus sounded; the great bell rang twenty-two times; the triple wills of the Omnisiah, the God of Machines, and the Prime Mover merged into one; billions of silver skulls cried out at their birth, and the complete God of Machines descended amidst the crying.
Finally, eat, eat, eat, eat, eat—endless eating; they constantly devoured endless chestnut buns to increase themselves, only to be eaten by the dark, deep pocket, thus cycling endlessly, forever eating, so the Eternal Dragon bit its own tail.
Those visions were too transcendent, completely beyond Xiang Leina's understanding and exceeding the upper limit her soul could contain.
Xiang Leina saw these visions but could not remember them.
In the end, she only remembered that everything was destroyed; the galaxy ended in humanity's thirtieth millennium.
Then, the warm white light after the end enveloped Xiang Leina, dragging her toward another unparalleled world of brilliance.
The twenty-second century.
The twenty-second century was right before her eyes.
Xiang Leina could not help but reach her hand toward that beautiful world.
The white light gradually took form, and Xiang Leina's body was also being shaped bit by bit.
That dark, malicious galaxy had been left behind.
The bright, kind, beautiful twenty-second century was right before her eyes.
"You are..." a kind, grandfather-like voice suddenly sounded before Xiang Leina.
A chubby, round old man's figure suddenly appeared before Xiang Leina: "It's you."
"You are not due yet; why are you in such a hurry to come?"
That round, grandfather-like figure spoke to Xiang Leina:
"If you come now, history will have problems."
Xiang Leina blinked blankly.
Just then, a voice suddenly sounded.
"Psyker Ogryn, open your eyes. I am Doraemon."
"Big Fool Le, open your eyes. I am Zhou Yun."
"Still sleeping! Is the work done?"
Zhou Yun's voice suddenly sounded from behind Xiang Leina, coming from that dark, malicious galaxy.
She suddenly felt a sensation of falling.
That brilliant, beautiful twenty-second century grew farther and farther away from her until Xiang Leina could no longer see it with her eyes.
"No! No! No!"
Xiang Leina suddenly reached out her hand, and then...
... then she suddenly woke up from a bed in the Forge General's residence of the Olympia Hive on Mars.
The one-time Time Pocket Cloth on her body dissolved into flowing light and vanished.
Zhou Yun stood smiling beside Xiang Leina.
Xiang Leina looked blankly at her own body; she vaguely remembered being killed by Luther.
And then, then, then she almost ascended to the twenty-second century.
Xiang Leina's expression was a bit dazed.
She realized that Zhou Yun must have used some method to resurrect her.
But for some reason,
Xiang Leina felt no joy of surviving a disaster in her heart.
Instead, it was filled with a sense of confusion,
a feeling of being halfway to ascending the Golden Wang Zuo, only to be kicked back by the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang to work overtime.
