Chapter 442: Then, I Shall Offer You Loyalty!

~7 min read 1,377 words

The Butcher's Nails on Kahn's head were still buzzing, and the demon possessing Kahn had already prostrated itself before Zhou Yun with its forehead to the ground.

Zhou Yun looked at Kahn and the demon kneeling on the ground, feeling momentarily stunned.

What is the situation with this demon? Why did it surrender so quickly?

And is this a demon-possessed version of Kahn?

How could such a cool thing appear?

Zhou Yun's XP system as a Chaos Space Marine enthusiast was instantly awakened.

After a brief moment, Zhou Yun quickly realized the possible identity of this demon.

"Could you be... Lorgar?" Zhou Yun asked slowly with hesitation.

Lorgar was the demon who once possessed Angron Thae; they were among the first Possessed Warriors, where demons and humans reached harmony, able to freely switch between demon and human forms, the model of demon-human symbiosis in Lorga's eyes, the future form of humanity.

Zhou Yun estimated that the demons who once possessed Angron Thae and his companions were carefully selected by the Four Gods from a cesspit—demons that were less foul, the best of the seller's showcase.

The demon possessing Kahn's body suddenly looked dazed, as if it had forgotten its own name; only after Zhou Yun's reminder did it recall its name from fragmented memories.

"Yes, my lord, I am Lorgar, the demon who once possessed Angron Thae, now merely a fragment longing for revenge."

Lorgar, having recalled his name, spoke to Zhou Yun in a hoarse voice.

It really is him.

When Zhou Yun heard that Abaddon had entrusted the Alpharii with transporting Kahn to Terra, he suddenly realized that the Avenger in the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang's prophecy was likely Kahn.

Kahn and Erebus had a blood feud: Erebus had killed Kahn's Chain Brother, Angron Thae.

For this, Kahn had nearly split Erebus open with three axe swings, but unfortunately, Erebus escaped using a ritual dagger.

Previously, Zhou Yun had suspected Kahn was the Avenger, but the Verdict Machine's judgment had been wrong.

Now it seems Kahn and Lorgar, one man and one demon combined, are the complete Avenger, a link in the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang's prophecy, and the key to the galaxy's fate for the coming period.

Moreover, as Angron's son, Kahn might fulfill the prophecy: "The Crimson Angel Angron will guide humanity's future."

So when seeing the demon possessing Kahn, the only name that came to Zhou Yun's mind instantly was Lorgar, because Lorgar and Kahn shared the same hatred.

Zhou Yun took out the Verdict Machine from his four-dimensional pocket and immediately performed a judgment.

The judgment result was correct: the Avenger is indeed the fusion of Kahn and Lorgar, one man and one demon.

A slight smile immediately curved Zhou Yun's lips.

He gently extended his finger toward Kahn's head.

At this moment, Kahn was still struggling against the surge of killing intent and rage pouring from the Butcher's Nails.

The Butcher's Nails told Kahn: Kill! Kill freely! Kill these people before you!

Kahn's reason told Kahn: What the hell are you killing for?

Not to mention Sanguinius and Saint Doraemon, even Guilliman he couldn't defeat!

Kahn wished he could pull the Butcher's Nails out of his head right now, pin them to the ground, and beat them severely.

Now his reason and rage had reached a balance, leaving him completely in a dazed state.

Zhou Yun, extending his finger toward Kahn's head, couldn't help but frown tightly.

A complete mess, simply a damn complete mess.

Various ugly cables and Kahn's brain tissue were mixed into a tangle, interspersed with strange tumors produced by Khorne mutations, while Kahn's own brain had been gnawed incomplete over ten thousand years by the Butcher's Nails, with most functions replaced by the Nails.

What made Zhou Yun frown even more was this:

The Butcher's Nails were actually psychic technology, even described as alive, devouring Kahn's soul fragments, producing a faint projection in the Warp, and piercing into Kahn's very existence on the soul level.

What a damn terrifying thing! Where did such a terrible creation come from in Nuceria, a feudal world?

A relic of the Dark Age of Technology? The humans of that era were truly terrifying!

This is even a degraded version of the Butcher's Nails; its functions are not as powerful as the original Butcher's Nails on Angron's head.

Zhou Yun forcefully, almost brutally, suppressed the power of the Butcher's Nails, fighting against its own functions, the vicious and brutal machine spirit within, and the blessing of Khorne.

It took considerable effort to suppress the functions of the Butcher's Nails, freeing the forged Kahn from rage.

Then, Kahn's eyes became dazed and clear, and meaningless words like "abba abba" kept spilling from his mouth.

Zhou Yun fell silent for a moment, then realized that the Butcher's Nails had replaced most of Kahn's brain functions; after shutting down the Nails, Kahn had become brain-dead.

He had to slightly reactivate some power of the Butcher's Nails, allowing Kahn's brain to function normally without letting Kahn be swallowed by rage.

Light gradually returned to Kahn's eyes.

After Kahn's sanity was restored, seeing Robert Guilliman, Sanguinius, and Doraemon standing before him, his entire body froze in place.

"Kahn, I am glad to see you have once again restrained your rage and regained some reason and clarity," Sanguinius said to Kahn in a gentle, soft tone.

"My Lord Sanguinius," Kahn's tone carried a slight complexity and heaviness.

Once reason was restored, memories from the Great Crusade flooded Kahn's brain, awakening some emotions he possessed, few though they were, beyond rage.

"Kahn! What are you still standing there for!"

Lorgar urged hastily:

"You fool, Saint Doraemon is right before your eyes! Why don't you immediately pledge loyalty to Saint Doraemon!"

Kahn's body stiffened; he had not engaged in normal communication with anyone for many years.

He could only quickly and decisively kneel on one knee before Zhou Yun, placing the chainsword axe Blood Son, inherited from Angron, between Zhou Yun and himself, performing the act of pledging loyalty.

"My lord, my chainsword axe is at your service."

"I beg one thing: fulfill the words you spoke on Baal and help me find Erebus's location."

"I long to cut off his head."

Kahn's final words were nearly a roar, veins bulging on his face.

"You wish to serve me?" Zhou Yun raised his voice slightly and asked, "What about the Blood God? What about Angron?"

"... I no longer long to cut off all skulls; I only long to cut off one of Erebus's. The Path of the Blood God is no longer my path."

Kahn spoke in a low voice:

"As for Angron, my father... perhaps he died long ago, on the very day he left Nuln. What exists now is only a tormented soul trapped within a demon's body forged by the Blood God."

This was the realization Kahn had come to over these days, struggling constantly against the Butcher's Nails with Lorgar's help.

Angron's resistance against the Butcher's Nails had failed; at that moment, he must have despaired and understood his fate.

That is why he longed to die upon the hot sands of Nuln, dying as a rebel.

Although the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang ultimately rescued him, the Angron who once was had actually died.

The Primarch of the World Eaters never returned; what came back was merely a body controlled by the Butcher's Nails.

"If given the chance, I would rather kill Angron, end his suffering, and let his soul return to those hot sands."

Silence, a wordless silence, enveloped the surroundings.

Kahn waited anxiously; he knew what making a deal with the gods entailed.

The blessings of the gods are not without cost; they are both gifts and curses.

He had once prayed to Lorgar and the Blood God to save his father, but what the Blood God gave him in return was...

A fleeting expression of pain crossed Kahn's face.

Then, Kahn heard a soft laugh.

"Then, stand up, Kahn."

"Now we are accomplices, accomplices seeking revenge against the same arch-enemy."

"Let us go together to sever the head of Abaddon, and avenge your Angron, my unfortunate psychic Ogryn, and countless others including Horus and Loken."
