Chapter 471

~9 min read 1,646 words

The Dark Angels could indeed be considered a model Chapter to a certain extent.

They did not have severe genetic mutations like the Space Wolves or the Blood Angels.

They did not have the Iron Hands' hatred of flesh and blood bodies and their obsession with mechanical ascension.

Nor would they make people suspect them of being overly ambitious like the Ultramarines.

Their apothecaries and librarians would help mortal women give birth and be moved by the birth of children.

They would protect mortals, respect the Astra Militarum, and were reliable and loyal when fighting side-by-side with comrades, never retreating.

They were true knights, the continuation of the Caliban spirit, a recreation of King Arthur and his court of knights from ancient Terran legends.

But all of this was on the premise that it did not involve those little secrets of theirs.

Once their little secrets were involved, the Dark Angels were a group of extreme fanatics; they would try to kill anyone who might know their secrets, abandon all duties to hunt down the Fallen, and become as insane and crazed as Blood Angels suffering from the Black Rage.

If they were told the news about Lion, they would only come over to cause trouble and disrupt Zhou Yun's operation to hunt Erebus, and would not listen to commands at all.

Guilliman's considerations were more political; if the Dark Angels were informed of Lion's situation while Guilliman refused to retrieve him, it might stimulate the Dark Angels' nerves, which would be detrimental to stability.

It wasn't that he wouldn't let Lion return, but in Guilliman's view, now was not a good time for Lion to return.

At least one more Primarch would need to return to achieve a balance and restrain Lion; that would be the best time.

"If Erebus's plot involves Lion, then the situation is a bit different," Guilliman turned his head slightly. "Do you need Sanguinius and me to intervene?"

The two were currently responsible for the Imperium Sanctus and the Imperium Nihilus respectively, and both were in a state where they could not easily get away.

But considering Zhou Yun's safety, Guilliman was willing to sacrifice a few worlds.

"No need," Zhou Yun shook his head slightly.

Zhou Yun had Nobita Nobi by his side; Guilliman did not know that Nobita Nobi could serve as a vessel for the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang's divine manifestation. If Zhou Yun were in danger, the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang would surely come to the rescue.

Even without counting Nobita Nobi, Zhou Yun remembered his discovery in Khârn's deck of Daemon Tarot cards; at a critical moment, that Tarot card could provide more utility than Guilliman, or even Sanguinius.

"And if you two intervene, you might directly cause Erebus to give up holding the *Conqueror* and just run away."

"Then all our previous preparations would be wasted, and we wouldn't achieve the effect of wearing Erebus down."

This was Guilliman's plan: cutting flesh with a dull knife, not forcing Erebus into a corner all at once, but weakening him bit by bit, slowly making him fall into a situation where he had nowhere to escape.

"The fleet led by Mephiston has already formed a encirclement, and Erebus will soon lose the opportunity to jump with the *Conqueror*."

Sanguinius said in a light tone:

"He is clearly prepared to rely on the *Conqueror* and have a fight with you."

"No rush, let's play with him," Zhou Yun also revealed a slight smile and said.

Calculating the time, Captain Caelian, Titus, Sahra-Kyn, and Khârn should also have started their actions.

Twisted and deformed corpses mixed with blood were poured out of a barrel by Kossolax.

These corpses were crew members who had died in mutual slaughter, the food for the terrifying giant beast before Kossolax.

With a hundred hands and a hundred arms, the Chaos beast, like the hundred-armed giant god of ancient mythology, crowded a corner of the bridge.

Seeing Kossolax pour his food onto the ground, the boy's head buried among the giant beast's scarlet flesh slowly extended, its face crazily gnawing on the corpses on the ground.

Kossolax roughly knew the origin of this giant beast; Erebus held a tragic sacrifice where eight hundred million lives slaughtered each other, and this child was the final victor, but also became the vessel for Chaos's evil energy, twisted into this appearance.

"Eat, eat; for me, the dignified Regent of the World Eaters, to feed you, your fortune is truly not small," Kossolax hummed with slight dissatisfaction and said.

The Butcher's Nails on his head buzzed, and Kossolax tried his best to suppress the anger brought by this terrifying machine.

Logically speaking, such work should indeed not be done by Kossolax.

But this giant beast had the power of the Blood God within its body; any World Eater who approached it would have their Butcher's Nails activated, be consumed by anger and bloodlust, launch an attack on the giant beast, and then be killed by it.

Erebus didn't care about the life or death of the World Eaters, but Kossolax couldn't not care; those were his brothers, his Legion.

So Kossolax took on the task of feeding this giant beast himself—let alone this giant beast hosting the Blood God's power, even in front of Angron, Kossolax could maintain his sanity.

The blood-red giant beast slightly extended its child's head; its eyes were lifeless and full of madness, but it gently extended its head to rub against Kossolax's hand, seemingly expressing gratitude toward Kossolax.

Erebus believed that the giant beast's will had nothing left but anger and madness, and the original will of that boy had long been devoured by the countless daemons residing in his body.

But Kossolax could faintly sense that this giant beast still hid a tiny bit of sanity, not discovered by Erebus... Of course, Kossolax didn't intend to tell Erebus about this discovery either.

"Kid, if there's a chance, how about you and I bite him hard together?" Kossolax asked in a low voice. The boy's head lifted up in confusion, looking at Kossolax a bit blankly, without making any response.

This made Kossolax very disappointed.

However, he only dared to talk about it; to truly rebel against Erebus,

his sanity told him that Erebus was not someone he could oppose.

That was the Hand of Fate, the mastermind behind the entire Great Heresy; opposing him only led to a dead end.

In fact, Kossolax felt that he had been able to live until now only because the loyalists' offensive came so quickly, so fast that Erebus didn't have time to take control of the warbands that originally belonged to Kossolax, and Erebus still needed Kossolax to command those World Eaters for him, which was why he spared Kossolax's life.

This was of course very humiliating, but what could Kossolax do?

The Butcher's Nails buzzed, and anger constantly urged him to swing his axe at Erebus,

but Kossolax knew that would be nothing but an act of self-destruction.

He could only endure the humiliation————

The *Conqueror* suddenly shook violently.

A sharp roar came from the loudspeakers on the bridge, like a roar of anger.

Invasion—the *Conqueror* had been invaded?!

"Let your men go and resist," a whisper sounded in Kossolax's ear, making his whole body break out in a cold chill.

He looked at Erebus standing not far away, who signaled him to act quickly with a cold gaze.

Kossolax shivered and quickly came to the command console.

The haggard phantom of the Mistress appeared beside Kossolax.

"Lady Salin, what happened?" Kossolax asked respectfully.

He already knew the identity of this lady before him.

The Mistress wearily raised a finger and tapped lightly on the command console.

A mass of twisted flesh was suddenly filled with blood; the blood fluctuated, reflecting a scene within it.

Tremors and flickering caused by teleportation appeared in a remote ship hold.

Appearing along with it was a group of Blood Angels clad in bright red Terminator power armor, the leader holding a master-crafted power hammer.

And after these Blood Angels appeared, a red-and-pink wooden door opened, and a group of Ultramarines quickly walked out from the door.

Leading this group of Ultramarines was a man with service studs embedded in his head and a resolute face.

From the badge and markings on the first Blood Angel, Kossolax determined that this was the Blood Angels' First Captain, Caelian.

But that Ultramarine—he didn't recognize him, had absolutely no impression of him.

Although the service studs proved that his service time was not short, there were no honorary medals on his body; he should just be a small fry, right?

Kossolax calmed his heart and began to make arrangements:

"Dark Apostle Korvein, Butcher Surgeon Lorekai, Dimensional Smith Mogriva, Decapitator Master Sharok."

"Let them lead their respective troops and teleport directly to the location of the invaders through the teleportation equipment inside the *Conqueror*."

These four generals were all recruited by Kossolax over ten thousand years; each was an excellent warrior, leading a powerful warband.

Their strength was absolutely not inferior to the Chapter Master of an average Chapter, and under the influence of Chaos blessings, they were even better.

Dealing with a mere First Captain and a nobody should be easy.

Kossolax just wanted to use his full strength to crush this group of invaders directly, destroy them completely, and prevent them from spreading out in the *Conqueror*, making them difficult to eliminate in a concentrated manner.

Dark Apostle Korvein, Butcher Surgeon Lorekai, Dimensional Smith Mogriva, and Decapitator Master Sharok, the four Chaos Astartes, led their respective troops and appeared directly in front of that group of Blood Angels and Ultramarines in a burst of whistling blood-colored light.

Kossolax revealed a smile; let this group of loyalists see the power of the World Eaters...

Boom!!!!!
