Chapter 484: Why Did the Emperor Visit Gomorrah?
Upon hearing Erebus say that Khârn the Betrayer was not to be underestimated, Lu Se still harbored some doubt.
After all, Erebus was an extremely arrogant, conceited, and foolish man who rarely praised anyone sincerely; if Erebus was not lying, it could only be because Khârn the Betrayer was truly dangerous enough.
Now, seeing Khârn the Betrayer, whom Erebus claimed to have already killed, still alive, Lu Se could only conceive of two possibilities.
The first possibility was that Khârn the Betrayer had deceived Erebus, escaped the pursuit of Khârn, Sharoth, and the others, and successfully fled with the Conqueror.
The second possibility was that Khârn the Betrayer had gained the approval of the Holy Doraemon, was resurrected by the Holy Doraemon, and now served the Holy Doraemon.
Whichever it was, it was sufficient to prove the truth of Erebus's words.
And judging by current events, it was most likely the second scenario.
This Regent of the World Eaters, once merely a mere adjutant, had now become the Lord of the World Eaters and the Chosen of the Holy Doraemon; truly ambitious and deeply scheming, he possessed the same style as Ji Li Man, who ten thousand years ago swallowed the entire Empire through his signature tardiness.
Not to be underestimated! Not to be underestimated!
He was deliberately refraining from using planet-destroying weapons, instead using orbital bombardment and communication taunts to deceive him and demand he board the Conqueror; there must be a trap hidden within this!
But Lu Se would not fall for such a trick; after all, he was the half-Primarch of the illustrious Dark Angels Legion, and caution was carved into his very bones.
Without any hesitation, his figure flashed as he plunged directly into the shadows, leading the Fallen Angels beside him in an urgent retreat, showing not a shred of hesitation.
"As expected of the famous Lu Se, to actually see through my scheme," Khârn the Betrayer on the ship sighed slightly, feeling he had just played a high-level game.
Khârn the Betrayer could have arranged a full five hundred World Eaters axemen on the bridge; once Lu Se accepted the challenge, these five hundred World Eaters would have swarmed forward and minced Lu Se into meat paste.
He just hadn't expected Lu Se to be so cautious and see through Khârn the Betrayer's scheme, causing Khârn the Betrayer's plot to fail.
However, forcing Lu Se to retreat still made Khârn the Betrayer feel quite good about himself.
But this left Captain Sarine beside him in silence; she completely failed to understand why Lu Se would flee.
In Captain Sarine's view, Khârn the Betrayer's plan had no chance of success whatsoever.
Five hundred World Eaters wanting to fight Lu Se? This guy definitely hadn't read the documents properly; Khârn the Betrayer's intellect wasn't too bad, already an irreplaceable talent among the World Eaters, but he was simply too immature and impulsive, and Sarine felt she needed to educate him more.
Sarine had a general idea of Lu Se's strength; this man was even a notch stronger than the current Khârn, and five hundred World Eaters would not even be enough for him to fill his teeth.
After Khârn the Betrayer acted without thinking, failed to discuss with Sarine, and directly taunted Lu Se, Captain Sarine had already made preparations to instantly activate the Conqueror's sub-light engines to leave the planet's orbit, teleporting Lu Se into the cold deep space while the Conqueror took the opportunity to flee via Warp travel.
But before Captain Sarine could flee, Lu Se had already fled first.
What was this situation?
Captain Sarine truly could not figure out why such a thing had happened.
Why did he look as if he were afraid of Khârn the Betrayer?
That shouldn't be the case; didn't Erebus tell Lu Se about Khârn the Betrayer's background?
"Please answer: Where did Hua Di Huang visit and stay for a long period alongside the Eldar Old Prophet during the twenty-ninth millennium of humanity? What did he do there?"
Looking at the question popped up by the lock on this iron door, Erebus, electrocuted until charred black and covered in various wounds, twitched in pain.
He and Bi La Ke had already attempted the eleven locks in this cabin, answering eleven questions, yet not a single answer was correct.
Those questions were increasingly abstract, increasingly bizarre, and increasingly inexplicable.
"Why did Hua Di Huang and Yvraine not have children through normal reproduction?"
"What did Hua Di Huang steal from Ol' Pereson?"
"How many Primarchs does the Alpha Legion have? Are they loyal or traitorous?"
"Where is GW's biological mother?"
"Which four mouths are the four most stubborn mouths in the universe?"
"What are the names of the Second and Eleventh Primarchs?"
"Elaborate on why numerology is a rigorous science?" This series of questions gave Erebus a massive headache and left him bewildered; most critically, every wrong answer incurred a punishment.
The more times the same answer was given incorrectly, the punishment increased exponentially.
The punishment for the first wrong answer was merely pain; the second wrong answer would cause significant injury to Erebus; the third wrong answer would leave incurable damage.
According to Erebus's estimation, the fourth punishment would kill him outright.
In other words, Erebus could answer the same question at most three times.
And there were a total of seventeen locks in the entire cabin; the chances for the first eleven locks had already been exhausted... if the questions for all seventeen locks could not be answered, then Erebus would be completely trapped here to die.
"Where was Hua Di Huang during the twenty-ninth millennium of humanity? What was he doing?"
Erebus calmly pondered the question before him; he actually had a slight clue.
Based on his previous discoveries when visiting Gomorrah, Hua Di Huang was very likely in Gomorrah during the twenty-ninth millennium.
The question mentioned that Hua Di Huang visited alongside the Eldar Old Prophet, which further confirmed this.
As for what Hua Di Huang was doing... Erebus thought for a moment, then lowered his voice to answer:
"In the twenty-ninth millennium, Hua Di Huang visited Gomorrah and stayed for a long period."
"His purpose was to seek Eldar technology for use in the Great Crusade."
This was the most reasonable answer with the highest probability.
At that time, the Fall of the Eldar had already occurred, Slaanesh had been born, and the Warp storms had been scattered; Hua Di Huang's visit to Gomorrah was obviously to acquire Eldar technology, otherwise why would he go together with the Eldar Old Prophet—
"Answer incorrect."
A cold voice rang out, and suddenly a thousand needles appeared in the void, piercing directly into Erebus's skin.
Erebus let out a sharp wail, suffering unbearable agony.
Not to obtain Eldar technology?
Then what the hell did Hua Di Huang go to Gomorrah to do?
Spend money? Indulge in lust? Enjoy life? Enjoy paid one-time love with some Eldar girls?
Although he thought this in his heart, Erebus did not truly believe Hua Di Huang went to Gomorrah to neglect serious business.
After all, that was the False Emperor! Devoid of humanity, unapproachable, cold and terrifying, the Black Sun hanging high above the Warp; this god's entire being was for humanity, nothing else.
He definitely went to Gomorrah for the sake of humanity, definitely!
Eribas was utterly certain.
