Chapter 487: Can one take revenge after nine generations
The Blood Child roared in fury, tearing into Erebus's thick-skinned face; blood and gore sprayed violently, splashing onto Khârn's arms.
Erebus shrieked in terror, but in the next instant, the one screaming with its head hacked off became a dull-eyed Tzeentch Greater Daemon, a wrestling eagle-man.
Fate had undergone its most jagged shift; a Tzeentch Greater Daemon had taken Erebus's place to bear the fate of death.
Although the knowledge in the wrestling eagle-man's brain had been wiped clean, their identity as a Tzeentch Greater Daemon remained unchanged. The power over fate derived from Tzeentch still flowed within them, serving as a sacrifice that could be used to bear the fatal destiny in Erebus's stead.
Another bird-shaped tattoo on Erebus's body vanished as a result.
This was completely beyond Erebus's expectations.
How could it be such a coincidence?
The door he entered happened to lead to Khârn's location, and he had happened to dive into this door ahead of Be'lakor just to shake off the pursuit of the Fat Tiger Greater Daemon.
At this very moment, Erebus also realized that his luck was clearly not right.
Was it a curse? Or the effect of that Saint Doraemon prop?
Erebus hurriedly brandished the ritual dagger in his hand, carving out an opening.
This opening did not lead to other rooms or other places; it was merely a short-range teleportation within this room.
Because the Saint Doraemon prop had locked down the entire *Blessed Lady*, using the ritual dagger to teleport to other rooms or the outside world had been completely forbidden.
Erebus only used this to put a little distance between himself and Khârn, preventing himself from being cleaved to death by Khârn's axe at close range.
Erebus emerged from a spot over ten meters away from Khârn; this was already the furthest distance Erebus could put between himself and Khârn in this cabin.
Khârn let out a low growl, crossing the ten-plus meters in the blink of an eye to appear before Erebus.
Erebus hurriedly tossed out a red pearl, bright as blood; the luster on the pearl flashed violently, reflecting a figure bathed in ten million bloodstains.
That figure emerged from the red pearl, condensing into form between Khârn and Erebus.
It was a daemon shrouded in black smoke, even more massive than a standard Bloodthirster. That black smoke condensed into bright red flesh, its teeth as large as longswords. It wore a brass collar of Khorne around its neck, brass armor on its body, and a cloak woven from a thousand Space Marine skulls. In one hand, it gripped a Khornate axe, and in the other, a skull scepter bearing the mark of the Blood God.
"Khârn! Khârn! My brother!" A savage laugh erupted from the daemon's mouth. He seemed overjoyed to see Khârn: "Seeing you is truly exhilarating!"
The Khornate axe and the Blood Child collided, the scent of blood drifting through the air.
"Seed of Destruction." Khârn growled the daemon's name.
Seed of Destruction, one of the Blood God's earliest Daemon Princes.
It is said that around the first and second millennium of humanity, he was a terrifying general who ravaged Terra, leading armies to trample many ancient nations, slaughtering several human races, and destroying countless cities, leaving an indelible impact on humanity. Such slaughter naturally drew the Blood God's attention.
The Blood God rewarded him, elevating this bloody general into his Daemon Prince. Today, he is the Blood God's strongest Daemon Prince besides Angron, much like Skarbrand in his prime is to a Khornate Greater Daemon, or Khârn is to a Khornate Chosen.
Khârn knew this was no ordinary opponent; Seed of Destruction had once, in a fit of rage, severed the "head" of an Enslaved Warlord-class Titan.
"You look well, my bloodthirsty brother." Seed of Destruction laughed wildly, sulfurous breath spewing from his mouth, nearly suppressing Khârn.
Khârn did not hesitate, abruptly retreating a step. Then, Raum, who was parasitic within his body, surfaced. Khârn's physique expanded to three or four meters in size, a pair of hideous flesh wings sprouted from his back, his power armor fused with his body, and his bare arms transformed into savage daemon claws.
"Seed of Destruction." Khârn brandished the Blood Child again, colliding with Seed of Destruction.
"Truly wonderful! For the past ten thousand years, you've been mad, intoxicated by the false rage given to you by that nail; I've never had a proper fight with you like this." Seed of Destruction laughed, clashing and colliding with Khârn.
Khârn remained silent. Instead, Raum within Khârn spoke Khârn's inner thoughts: "For the past ten thousand years, you've been sealed away half the time; what the hell is there to fight about?" During the Fifth Black Crusade, Seed of Destruction had wiped out two loyalist Space Marine chapters, only to crash and burn at the hands of the Blood Angels, remaining sealed within a statue of Sanguinius for a full five thousand years. Khârn had hardly ever seen him in the Blood God's realm.
Not close, really not close.
"I thought you would condemn me for betraying the Blood God's path." Khârn said with a mocking smile.
He had now accepted the blessing of Saint Doraemon; his axe burned with the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang's psychic fire, and his body had undergone Belisarius Cawl's Primaris transformation—it was somewhat of a grievance to the Blood God's blessing.
"How could that be! My bloodthirsty brother."
Seed of Destruction let out a wild laugh. The Blood Child left a hideous mark on his chest, and Seed of Destruction left an identical scar on Khârn's chest:
"No one can condemn an avenger."
"When I was still a mortal, I once heard a saying from the Southerners."
"Can one take revenge after nine generations? Even a hundred generations will suffice!"
"Kill to stop killing, no pardon for the dead! When a gentleman takes revenge, he must make the villain know fear!"
"Come, Khârn, let's see if you succeed in your revenge, or if I hack off your head!"
Unlike the heated clash between Khârn and Seed of Destruction, the atmosphere between the Fat Tiger Greater Daemon and Be'lakor was rather subtle.
The Fat Tiger Greater Daemon brandished the ball-and-stick in his hand, smashing that wrestling eagle-man to pieces in a few quick moves.
Then he looked at Be'lakor, who had just broken free from Erebus's spell.
Be'lakor, standing before the light door, bared his teeth at the Fat Tiger Greater Daemon in a cold, sinister smile.
This first Daemon Prince, wielder of the Blade of Shadows, had terrifying energy churning upon him.
If it were a fight to the death, the Fat Tiger Greater Daemon might not necessarily be Be'lakor's match.
But Be'lakor also narrowed his eyes slightly, looking at the ball-and-stick in the Fat Tiger Greater Daemon's hand, which burned with the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang's psychic fire.
If Be'lakor were careless and beaten to death by this stick, he would die completely—the risk was a bit high, Be'lakor muttered in his heart.
"..." The two daemons stared at each other with big eyes and small eyes.
Then, Be'lakor turned to one side and pointed at the light door behind him.
"Together?"
