Chapter 513: The Blood God's Grand Plan! (Two-in-One)
The tide of blood sways across the firmament; war erupts in the Highest Heaven and the real world, and also within the Blood God's thigh.
Slaughter, slaughter, slaughter—a streak of crimson slaughter pierces both ends of the galaxy.
Guilliman is killing, Sanguinius is killing, Saint Doraemon is killing, hundreds of thousands of Astartes are killing, and countless billions of mortals are killing.
Kill, kill unyieldingly.
The galaxy is dark; all things return to void. Only slaughter can oppose the cold darkness of ending and death.
The sole goal is battle and slaughter; the sole longing is for blood to flow. Everything else is unimportant.
Tzeentch longs to escape the destruction that will inevitably come through endless change.
Nurgle's rot constantly prolongs the process of death to escape death's final outcome.
Slaanesh, despairing at death's inevitable arrival, immerses itself in honor and pleasure.
Only the Blood God, with that streak of crimson slaughter and joy, faces the void brought by death.
The Blood God fears not death; the Blood God colors death and gives it meaning.
Even when death and war erupt within the Blood God's thigh, leaving the Blood God with wounds difficult to heal, the Blood God still praises it.
But of all the slaughters in these days, the one that most pleases the Blood God is Khorne's slaughter.
Khorne, Khorne, Khorne.
The Blood God's chosen, the most favored.
The Blood God loves Khorne; He can feel the emptiness in Khorne's heart from days past, feel his void. Thus, Khorne uses madness, rage, and slaughter to fill the void within his heart, to oppose the void, and to write annotations for death.
He is the mortal most fitting for the Blood God's path; therefore, the Blood God granted him brief freedom, letting him kill freely.
The Blood God believes Khorne can please Him.
Facts prove Khorne did so.
The Blood God smiles, admiring the scene of Khorne wielding his axe to shatter Erebus's head.
At the moment of Erebus's death, the rage of countless people toward Erebus and toward the Great Heresy, which had circled in the Warp for ten thousand years, seemed to find an outlet. Roaring, it surged continuously into Khorne's body, causing the blood qi upon Khorne to churn ceaselessly.
Revenge, sacrifice, and slaughter are all complete.
The Blood God can feel Khorne's heart.
Khorne has filled his own heart with blood; death holds no meaning for him anymore. He successfully used a streak of crimson slaughter to conquer the void brought by ending and death.
With slaughter thus concluded, even death leaves no regrets. Only blood flows; only crimson joy remains.
Khorne is now complete.
Yet the Blood God remains unsatisfied; He hopes Khorne's slaughter will never end.
Rage, fire, and killing intent, layered upon layered, transform into chains winding around Khorne.
"Khorne!!!" The God of Blood calls Khorne; His voice is deafening, causing almost the entire star system to tremble.
Crimson light emanates from the stars; killing intent spreads between person and person.
The Fallen Angels, World Eaters, and Dark Angels currently engaged in battle all feel a tremor in their souls; rage surges unceasingly from within their bodies.
Their eyes turn red; almost instantly, they are swallowed by rage. Some Fallen Angels and Dark Angels can still barely restrain themselves, but the World Eaters, except for Khârn, are almost all swallowed by rage, plunging into unstoppable carnage.
Khârn's body trembles; he feels fear at everything happening before his eyes.
"What is happening?!" Khârn asks, his lips trembling. Deep down, he actually knows the answer; he is merely afraid of that answer.
"He has come." Captain Sareen stands beside Khârn, raising his head slightly, as if looking at a non-existent sky in the void.
Ezekiel, the Chief Librarian of the Dark Angels, has a trace of fresh blood trickling from the corner of his mouth; his entire body sways.
His eyes reflect the scene within the Warp: overwhelming blood qi floods the Warp where this star system resides, and above the veil of reality, the Blood God lowers His head and casts His gaze.
And aboard the Blessed Lady, the mutation appears even clearer; the Blood God's domain directly pierces into the material universe through Khorne, twisting the space of reality.
In an instant, the cabin and a desert flowing with red sand and blood interweave; the ceiling seems to vanish, transforming into a mass of gloomy crimson clouds pressing down on everyone's heads.
And the figure clad in grotesque armor, seated upon the Huang Tong Wang Zuo, with blood constantly flowing from his legs, appears and disappears within the clouds.
"Blood God." Lion clenches his teeth, looking at the grotesque figure in the sky, and grips the Loyal Sword in his hand tightly.
But the drowsiness in his head is surging forth continuously. He should not have woken at this very moment; it was only Zhou Yun who forcibly woke him using bacteria.
And those bacteria can only make one wake from a long slumber for one hour. Now, the drowsiness is gradually returning, wanting to drag the Lion back into the long slumber.
Khorne's expression is relatively calm. He stands at the boundary between the red sand and the metal cabin floor, raising his head to gaze far away at the Blood One he once served.
"Blood God!!!" Khorne raises his head and roars, responding to the Blood God's call.
The God of Blood laughs wildly.
Eighty-eight million war cries rise from all directions, their sound driving straight into Khorne's head.
+You have beheaded the head you desired! +
+You have completed your revenge! +
+Khorne! Khorne! Khorne! +
+You are complete! You are whole! +
+But you still owe me one head. +
These voices sound in Khorne's ears, transforming into shackles that constantly awaken Khorne's rage.
This is the price the Blood God paid to release Khorne's freedom and let Khorne pursue his revenge.
Khorne promised to chop off a Primarch's head for the Blood God.
This is actually the Blood God's purpose from the very beginning.
He once attempted to corrupt many Primarchs: Sanguinius, Dorn, Russ, Jaghatai Khan, and even Guilliman.
But he failed all of them. During the Great Heresy, his only gain was Angron.
Thus, the Blood God began to ponder: if corruption fails, why can he not create a Primarch of his own?
The fire required to create a Primarch has already burned out, but he can reuse the fire within other Primarchs.
He only needed to create a new body, kill a Primarch, and stuff that Primarch's fire into that body to obtain a new Primarch.
But this was extremely difficult; how could a body capable of containing a Primarch's power be easily found? Robbing the fire from within a Primarch's body was even harder.
Yet the Blood God still found a way, discovering a power strong enough to capture a Primarch's fire.
This power was rage—the boundless rage of all living beings regarding the Great Heresy. This rage had accumulated for ten thousand years, churning and surging endlessly in the sea of the Warp, never weakening by even a fraction.
And Erebus was one of the chief culprits of the Great Heresy, the person most hated within it. Much of this boundless rage pointed directly at Erebus.
Erebus was the concrete object toward which that rage was directed. This was also why he agreed to Khan's request, allowing Khan to seek revenge and kill Erebus.
Because Khan's murderous intent and rage toward Erebus were so substantial and intense.
Khan's rage was a representative of all beings' rage toward the Great Heresy. Khan could become the agent of all beings' rage, killing Erebus to satisfy the rage dwelling in the Warp.
The Blood God could use this to forge that rage into a tool for robbing a Primarch's fire, with Khan serving as the vessel for this tool.
Thus, under the Blood God's design, Khan's process of killing Erebus became a ritual. Erebus and Khan's hatred for Erebus were the sacrifices, allowing Khan to absorb the power of that rage to the maximum extent, growing him to perfection.
He was cultivating not only Khan but also Lorgar upon Khan, that demon of the Greed and Dissolution domains.
The Blood God attempted to cultivate it into a hybrid of the Mindless Slaughter and Greed Dissolution domains, to help Khan devour the Primarch's body and fire.
Of course, even so, Khan and Lorgar would not last long before dying; such a crude fusion was inherently unstable. The Blood God did not expect Khan and Lorgar to endure, but as long as the Blood God ascended them to demonhood before their death, was that not sufficient?
In this way, he could use Khan as a handle to pull a Primarch's fire into his own domain, creating a new Demon Primarch that blended the rage of all beings toward the Great Heresy, Khan, Lorgar, His own will, and the Primarch's essence. This new Primarch would be incomparably powerful.
And now, the opportunity lay before him.
The Blood God could perceive Lion El'Jonson's weakness, could perceive the fluctuations and cracks in Lion El'Jonson's heart caused by killing Lorgar, and could perceive that Lion was gradually falling back into a long slumber.
With the Blood God's blessing, Khan had the opportunity to complete this challenge and kill Lion El'Jonson.
+Kill him, Khan! +
+Sever his head. +
+Kill him! Kill him! +
The Blood God's voice constantly rang in Khan's ears, urging Khan to swing the Blood Seed in his hand at Lion El'Jonson.
It was not only Khan; within the boundless rage of all beings toward the Great Heresy, there was also rage directed at Lion.
Khan vaguely saw some visions; those were the memories and rage of the Fallen Angels closest to him.
A Dark Angel from Terra saw his Gene-Father from afar for the first time; that was on Caliban, where Lion was slaughtering his brothers.
A new recruit raised on Caliban by Lion's orders put on power armor for the first time, but it was to fight his own father; they were killed by Lion in an instant.
And those worlds destroyed by Lion, the innocents who died under orbital bombardment, the warriors marginalized by Lion—their rage gathered together and surged toward Khan, urging Khan to swing his axe at Lion, to challenge Lion.
This rage, along with the Blood God's rage, surged into Khan's mind, almost drowning Khan.
+Kill, my Chosen. +
The Blood God whispered softly, as if he had already seen his victory.
But at this very moment, Lorgar within Khan writhed with his mangled body, igniting the fierce psychic flames of Hua Di Huang upon himself, burning away that rage and the Blood God's will, leaving patches of emptiness, protecting Khan's will for a short time.
The Blood God's expression froze slightly; a brief moment later, he realized what had happened.
Lorgar, Lorgar had deceived him.
Lorgar was no longer entirely a demon of the Greed Dissolution domain; other things had been mixed into his body, and his rage did not belong to Mindless Slaughter.
He was a demon of the Erosion Dissolution domain, a demon of the Dark King, the Emperor's hidden piece!!!
From the very beginning, he was a trap left by Hua Di Huang for the Blood God.
He could guide the power of Hua Di Huang into Khan's body!!!
"Hua Di Huang!!!!!" The Blood God's roar echoed throughout the entire Warp. Boundless rage raised towering blood tides, and in the hearts of countless beings across the galaxy, rage suddenly surged, causing them to begin madly destroying everything around them.
Upon the Wang Zuo, the desiccated corpse that had slightly grown some flesh and blood curled its lips into a slight smile.
That rage toward the Great Heresy came from humanity; it was always the burden weighing on Hua Di Huang, constantly urging him to destroy everything and complete the Great Crusade.
Now, with Erebus killed under the Blood God's plan, much of that rage and hatred was vented through this; his state instantly improved considerably.
Whether the Blood God gained anything in his plan, he did not know; in any case, Hua Di Huang had obtained immense benefits from it.
The Blood God is truly an honest man.
Hua Di Huang could not help but sigh.
The Blood God angrily realized his plan had reached the brink of failure.
Hua Di Huang had done almost nothing; he had merely secretly concealed Lorgar's identity as a demon of the Erosion Destruction domain, easily ruining the Blood God's plan and gaining immense benefits from it.
Whereas the Blood God might suffer immense losses.
The worst outcome would be the power of Hua Di Huang, ushered in by Lorgar, washing over Khan, snatching Khan, this Chosen, from the Blood God's hands. Of course, this was almost impossible to occur, because Khan had been corrupted by the Blood God for a full ten thousand years, thoroughly pickled; even Hua Di Huang would almost be unable to snatch Khan over to his side.
But with the fierce flames of Hua Di Huang burning upon Lorgar, he could at least guarantee Khan's total destruction, guaranteeing the Blood God would not recover even a scrap.
The Blood God's eyes bulged as if about to split; he slightly extended his hand and grasped the great brass sword beside the Wang Zuo.
With such immense loss and humiliation, he desperately longed to vent his rage upon the material universe.
But... but the wound on his thigh still restricted the Blood God, keeping the Blood God in an incomplete state. Under these circumstances, he could almost not break through Hua Di Huang's blockade to cause real damage to the material universe... unless he accepted that wound, accepted the fate of sitting eternally upon the brass Wang Zuo, recognizing that the wound and disability were inevitable results of war, thereby becoming whole again.
The Blood God's expression grew gloomy, accumulating rage; he growled lowly and questioned Khan:
"Khan, is this your choice?"
"I do not loathe betrayal! But I loathe cowards!"
"Would you rather face total death than accept the challenge?!"
Khan responded to the Blood God's question with a cold silence; he gazed at the Blood God, and after about eight seconds, Khan slowly spoke:
"No, God of Blood, Our Lord, I do not refuse the challenge."
As the words fell, Khan slowly raised the sharp axe in his hand, pointing it at the Blood God's head:
"I accept the challenge. I will present you with a Primarch's head."
"But not Lion El'Jonson's, nor Ji Li Man's, nor Sanguinius's."
"I challenge you, and I challenge my father."
"I will sever Anglong's head."
"Lord of Blood, do you accept my challenge?!"
