Chapter 529: Eighty Days to Overturn Alert Star!

~8 min read 1,485 words

Zhou Yun looked at that item, whose price was almost identical to Angron's.

【Item Name: Three-Year Sleeping Taro Pillow】

【Origin: 22nd Century Earth — Future Department Store】

【Production Time: 231. m3】

【Function: By sleeping on this pillow once, one can find a solution to any problem; depending on the problem to be solved, the required time will differ—the greater the difficulty, the longer the sleep needed, ranging from three seconds, three minutes, three hours, three days, up to three years, thirty years, or even three hundred years.】

The Three-Year Sleeping Taro Pillow is a pillow that, by sleeping on it once, can answer all problems,

except that the more difficult the problem, the longer the required sleep time.

Angron's selling price was just enough to exchange for this item; in theory, as long as Zhou Yun slept on this pillow once, he could find a way to save this galaxy and discover the path to walk in the future,

yet for such a monumental problem, no one knew how long he would have to sleep; even with a time-flow-adjusting item like the Mad Clock, it would likely take an exceedingly long time to obtain the answer.

"So it's the Sleeping Taro Pillow." Standing beside Zhou Yun, the Noby Hua Hua Hua Di Huang faltered slightly, then wore an expression of realization.

With the appearance of this item, the galactic future foreseen by the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang gradually became clear; he vaguely saw the figure of Zhou Yun sleeping upon this pillow.

This item could indeed resolve the problems facing Zhou Yun and the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang, finding a way to save this galaxy,

but the cost was that Zhou Yun would fall into a long slumber for a period of time.

It was not that others could not use this item, but compared to Zhou Yun, having anyone else use it was not reassuring enough.

Even if the user themselves was reliable enough, they still faced the possibility of being influenced by the power of the Four Chaos Gods.

Even setting aside the Four Chaos Gods, a part within the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang Himself was not so willing to see the galaxy saved.

He was, after all, the King of Darkness, the Destroyer of Worlds.

Even the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang could only suppress that portion of will, not completely eliminate it.

Only Zhou Yun could resist the erosion of the Four Gods and that portion of the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang's will, bringing back the correct answer, untampered by any force.

There was no room for risk; the Four Gods, especially Tzeentch, were most adept at this sort of trickery.

Tzeentch needed only to tamper with a tiny part of the answer's content to steer fate in a completely different direction; Magnus's psychic phone call and Ahzek Ahriman's Rubric were prime examples.

However, before using the Three-Year Sleeping Taro Pillow, Zhou Yun still needed to make some preparations.

There were still matters in the galaxy that required him to prepare.

As an important member of the Human Empire nowadays, he could not simply vanish without a word.

At the very least, he had to bid farewell to Guilliman and Sanguinius.

Moreover, a large number of starships and Astartes were currently stored in Zhou Yun's four-dimensional pocket; during the days Zhou Yun slept, they could not simply remain in the pocket forever, could they?

Thinking of this, Zhou Yun gave the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang a slight nod, then pulled the Anywhere Door from his pocket and stepped inside; after Zhou Yun departed, the Wang Zuo hall returned to silence.

The Hua Hua Hua Di Huang also withdrew his will from the Wang Zuo hall, projecting it once again toward the boundless sea of stars, silently countering the will of the Chaos Gods and linking a series of events to develop in a direction favorable to the Empire and to humanity.

And also, countering those voices...

+Your Majesty, do you still harbor hope? +

+Do not immerse yourself further in illusory hope, Your Majesty. +

+Your Majesty, destruction is the destined end. +

+Your Majesty, rise up... +

+We pray for your descent, King of Darkness. +

Countless billions of despairing human souls resonated within the body of the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang/King of Darkness/King of Eternal Years.

They persuaded the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang to accept the fate of destruction.

Compared to hope, was destruction not simpler and more thorough?

They had long grown weary of this world and were unwilling to make even the slightest effort to save it.

That weary middle-aged man clenched his teeth.

"No."

He spoke, just as he had spoken for the past ten thousand years.

The Cicatrix Maledictum,

a very difficult-to-pronounce and awkward High Gothic name, so much so that initially only those scholars and officials on Terra used this name,

but later, because this name was not only hard to pronounce but also extremely difficult to write—containing nearly thirty High Gothic letters—and appeared with such high frequency in various imperial administrative decrees, impacting administrative efficiency too greatly,

ultimately, Prime Minister Viceroy Viceroy Tiruien, dragging his aged body, whipped the scholar who invented this term severely, then strongly demanded that all documents use the Low Gothic name "Great Rift," barely correcting the usage on Terra.

And across the boundless galaxy, different races and factions on different worlds called it by all manner of strange names:

the Crimson Path, the Maw of Destruction, the Warp Scar, Gork's Grin or Mork's Hook, the Twilight, the Hope Devourer...

This rift tore the galaxy apart in both the material and Warp dimensions, and even, according to intelligence brought by the Eldar, the Webway had suffered tremendous impact.

Except by borrowing the power of Saint Doraemon's items or relying on the Harlequins' guidance to traverse the chaotic Webway, the only way to cross the Great Rift was to seek out those slender corridors.

The Nakmond Corridor was one of the more stable among these slender corridors, and Alert Star was a key node within this corridor, now coveted by factions on all sides.

How should one describe the current state of Alert Star?

It was simply a grand gathering where nearly every named faction in the entire galaxy participated, from Genestealers to Orks, from the Adeptus Mechanicus to Craftworld Eldar, from Harlequins to Ultramarines, from White Scars to Night Lords, from Imperial Fists to Iron Warriors, from Death Guard to Dark Angels...

Today, the patriarch of the Genestealer Pauper Prince cult had just ignited a rebellion; the next day, the Harlequins hung his head on the hive city's Gao Ta; the day after that, the Harlequins were backstabbed by the Craftworld Eldar, and in great fury, the Harlequins brought back the Ultramarines to slaughter the Craftworld Eldar, but their fighting inadvertently attracted the attention of the Orks; a huge mob of Orks drove motorcycles trying to pick a fight with them, only to crash headlong into the trench fortress siege warfare between the Imperial Fists and Iron Warriors; eventually, the Orks began wild racing with the arriving White Scars, while the Harlequins engaged in a tit-for-tat assassination war with the Night Lords hired by the Iron Warriors; the Death Guard's Plague Crow warband fought an internal battle nearby against the Purging Plague Army warband, also of the Death Guard; the Dark Angels inexplicably launched indiscriminate orbital bombardment; and the Adeptus Mechanicus took advantage of the chaos to excavate ancient relics within Alert Star...

But he, the Herald of the Great Warmaster Abaddon, the Star-Seizer Harken, would end the chaos on this planet.

The Spear of Hell, accompanied by Lei Guang, was planted atop the hive city's Gao Ta, and the amplifier array on Star-Seizer Harken broadcasted blasphemous words in all directions:

"I am Star-Seizer Harken, the Herald of Chaos Warmaster Abaddon's rule, the vanguard of apocalyptic calamity bringing doom to this planet."

"In the name of Warmaster Abaddon, I swear to seize this planet within eighty days and present it to the noble Chaos Warmaster!"

Star-Seizer Harken roared, proclaiming his blasphemous declaration, which spread via the amplifier array to nearly half the planet, yet no one paid him any mind.

The Genestealers were still internally competing for the next patriarch; the Craftworld Eldar were hunting down Harlequins who had sided with humanity; the Ultramarines were under pressure on multiple fronts; the Imperial Fists and Iron Warriors were desperately trying to kill each other; the Death Guard were debating whether extermination or plague was the true path of Nurgle; the Dark Angels were hunting the Fallen; the Adeptus Mechanicus were grave-digging; and even the Orks were so engrossed in racing with the White Scars that they bothered to ignore Harken.

Just as Harken felt anger rising, a flash of teleportation light suddenly flickered before him, and a deep blue fist smashed out from within it.
