Chapter 602

~6 min read 1,173 words

An angry roar erupted from Sol's throat; he felt as if he had almost turned into a beast controlled by anger.

That was the anger originating from within his gene-seed, the anger from the source of his genetic sequence ten thousand years ago, the anger of a warrior who had once suffered betrayal by his own gene-father.

But before this anger, what flashed through Sol's heart first was actually a trace of trance.

Many fragmented memories flashed before Sol's eyes.

That noble purple figure, that King of Phoenicia, that Phoenix Lord.

That beautiful man who had never been stained with the slightest filth even while standing in a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood.

That Primarch whose glory had never faded in the slightest even after countless battles.

That Hua Hua Hua Di Huang's Child who was almost the incarnation of the concepts of perfection and pride in the human world.

He seemed to see that beautiful purple person smiling and picking up a little girl, placing her on his shoulder, and countless people cheered for this scene.

Just looking at that figure, Sol felt a sense of being moved; he was even willing to abandon his pursuit of perfection and pride, serving him and the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang wholeheartedly...

But all of this shattered in an instant, leaving only betrayal, bombing, slaughter, and a twisted, sticky, half-human, half-snake demon.

It was precisely in the breaking of this beautiful illusion that boundless anger was born.

Sol pulled out the Necron phase sword he had just retrieved; he did not even think about how to act, and his body moved on its own, even more agile, swift, and unpredictably treacherous than Sol usually was.

"Traitor!!" Sol growled, the blade pointing straight at Fulgrim's throat.

Fulgrim, however, just had a trace of a melancholy smile on the corner of his mouth, looking at Sol with a gaze that was complex and contained a little surprise.

"Tarvitz?" he whispered.

Bang!!!

The blades collided; a long sword as slender as a viper's fang blocked in front of Sol, stopping Sol's hyperphase sword.

That was an Astartes wearing Mark IV power armor, the purple-gold interwoven power armor covered with battlefield oaths.

"Are you crazy? As an Hua Hua Hua Di Huang's Child, you dare to harm our Primarch who has returned to purity?" that Astartes swordsman questioned.

"I am a Son of the Phoenix, I am a son of Rogal Dorn!" Sol roared in response.

"What stupid things are you saying? Where does that rock Rogal Dorn look like a phoenix??" that Astartes swordsman roared and questioned.

The bodies of the two swordsmen were very close, so close that Sol could even see the contents of those battlefield oaths inscribed on the swordsman's power armor—those oaths made Sol feel inexplicably familiar.

Sol's gaze stalled; some memories hidden in the genes appeared again, and he vaguely saw the figure of this person in his memory.

Flavius Alkenex, head of the Phoenix Guard, commander of the Primarch's bodyguard, who stood on Fulgrim's side in the Battle of Isstvan III...

Another traitor.

The sharp hyperphase sword instantly outlined several deadly sword edges, and Alkenex was actually forced back several steps.

This made this former head of the Phoenix Guard feel a trace of confusion; there was no doubt that the boy in front of him who was trying to attack the Primarch was an Hua Hua Hua Di Huang's Child.

But his swordsmanship... how could it be so exquisite?

Alkenex's martial arts were not bad; since the death of Fulgrim's eldest son and chief court swordsman Akurduana, there had been no swordsman in the entire legion who could completely suppress him, and those who could rival him were few and far between.

Alkenex was stunned; he suddenly discovered that the swordsmanship of the person in front of him looked familiar, and the face of the person in front of him also made people feel familiar.

"Tarvitz? Is it you?" Alkenex shouted tentatively.

But the only answer to him was an even more lethal sword edge.

Alkenex calmed his heart, banishing that simply bizarre thought from his head.

Tarvitz was already dead... dead on Isstvan III.

Could it be that his gene-seed had continued...

"Alkenex? I thought he died at Fabius's hands."

That venomous voice whispered in Sol's mind:

"Tarvitz's memory is correct, he is the head of the Phoenix Guard, perhaps the last Phoenix Guard in the galaxy."

"In my impression, he seemed to have joined Eidolon's Phoenix Conclave, but he was completely out of place with the Phoenix Conclave, or rather the entire Hua Hua Hua Di Huang's Children nowadays; no self-mutilation, not much indulgence, and no mutations on his body, almost the same as back then."

"It was precisely for this reason that this guy was not very popular, so Eidolon threw him to Fabius Bile's side, and later there was no news of him; I didn't expect him to appear here."

"Kid, even if Tarvitz himself were here, he wouldn't have broken through his defense so quickly, but if it were my power..."

The venomous temptation circled in Sol's heart; his will, surrounded by anger, wavered slightly for a moment.

If he could kill Fulgrim...

This thought only flashed through Sol's heart for a moment, but after this moment, Sol suddenly felt an extra force in his body.

A venomous, arrogant, and overbearing force.

The sensation of a sword hilt suddenly appeared in his left hand, which was not holding a sword, and a slender, twisted long sword appeared in his hand.

That sword did not look like a human weapon, flashing with an evil light; the moment it appeared in Sol's hand, it turned into snake-like sword light and stabbed at Alkenex.

His right-hand sword style was steady and swift, while his left-hand sword style was venomous and treacherous, like an Aquila and a viper intertwined.

The Phoenician Blade in Alkenex's hand was hard to fend off, and this last Phoenix Guard also recognized the swordsmanship of Sol's left hand at the same time.

"Right hand Tarvitz, left hand Lu Xiusi, how did you learn your swordsmanship??"

"Won't your left hand and right hand fight each other??"

Alkenex roared in shock.

He himself was also a master of swordsmanship, and not to mention that the relationship between Tarvitz and Lu Xiusi was irreconcilable, just the fact that the swordsmanship of the two of them was two completely different styles...

But Sol swung them without any hindrance, as if there were two souls in his body swinging the sword for him.

Alkenex was hard to fend off; the Phoenician Blade in his hand was flicked away, and he retreated several steps in succession.

"You————Hmm?"

Alkenex had just wanted to ask what was going on with Sol when he suddenly saw the shape of the sword in Sol's left hand clearly, and his face suddenly became terrifying:

"The Blade of the Laer!!"

"The Blade of the Laer..." Fulgrim's face also became slightly gloomy: "Lu Xiusi?"
