Chapter 66: My Terra is Truly Full of Talent

~7 min read 1,235 words

"Thus, deceit spread in the imperial court, alchemists refined poisonous pills, and soldiers became increasingly thirsty for military merit and war..."

Xiang Leina, while following Zhou Yun and the massive human tide toward the First Sector, continued to tell the story:

"But even though the passage of time, the exhausting state affairs, and the rift with his offspring wore down the emperor's energy, he remained as ruthless and sharp as a wolf or eagle."

"He ultimately resisted the most vicious corruption and saw through many of Chaos's schemes."

"He burned corrupted books, buried alive the scholars who secretly believed in the Changer of Ways, and used the ignorance of the people to block the erosion of knowledge."

"He executed the alchemists who offered fake pills, rejected the Plague God's blessing, and instead built great ships to seek the secret of the immortals overseas."

"He built a towering wall spanning the borders, restrained the Blood God's military edge, and used a thousand-year-old high wall to protect his empire."

Xiang Leina whispered:

"Chaos was still constantly harassing him and his empire; he often woke up in the middle of the night from nightmares, often searched for truth in endless fantasies, often sifted through bamboo slips for traces of corruption... Chaos caused a lot of damage to his empire... but he still wearily and arduously held it up."

"He even defeated the madness constantly surging from the Empyrean, personally banishing a Greater Daemon that invaded from the Sea of Souls with an ancient psychic bow."

Personally shot and banished a Greater Daemon...

Hearing this, Zhou Yun's eye corner twitched slightly.

He seemed to see an emperor in black standing on the bow of a ship, waves crashing, shooting a Greater Daemon that invaded reality from the Warp with a bow glowing with psychic light.

It was almost as absurd as a certain medieval knight riding a horse, defeating a Void Dragon in a single charge, and imprisoning it on Mars.

Is Ancient Terra really this full of talent?

"But his empire still collapsed," Xiang Leina continued with her head hanging: "Not in his hands, but in his son's hands."

Hearing this, Zhou Yun's desire to complain grew even stronger.

An emperor who ended division, an expedition for unification,

building roads to link the empire in the late expedition, being constantly harassed by Chaos,

and ultimately this great empire was destroyed in the hands of the emperor's son...

Although that was indeed the general case, Zhou Yun felt the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang's thick personal emotions from the perspective of storytelling.

You're smuggling your own agenda, you old yellow-skinned weasel!

"The emperor resisted the corruption from Chaos during his lifetime, arduously maintaining his empire."

"But what he didn't know was that his eighteenth son had already been corrupted and eroded by the three Chaos gods, infused with power from Them."

"He also didn't know that one of his eunuchs was the Changer of Ways in disguise, waiting to bring chaos to his empire."

"They covered up the emperor's death, forged a fake imperial decree, and sent it to the successor at the empire's border."

"That fake decree demanded the successor commit suicide in the name of the emperor."

"The Hua Hua Hua Di Huang wanted to warn the successor that this was a deceitful conspiracy, but the successor was deceived by the Changer of Ways' magic in the fake decree and committed suicide."

"The emperor's empire was thus corrupted by Chaos and fell into chaos..."

Xiang Leina finished the story and looked at Zhou Yun timidly.

Zhou Yun looked at her with great interest.

He was very familiar with this story, but the Warhammer version had a unique flavor.

"So, is this story trying to tell me something?" Zhou Yun asked, rubbing Xiang Leina's head.

"Always be vigilant against the corruption of Chaos, even if you are dead, continue to be vigilant," Xiang Leina whispered with her head down.

Zhou Yun nodded in agreement, then tapped the little bug by his ear: "Did you hear that?"

After a few seconds of silence, the bug vibrated its wings, the frequency forming a sentence:

"What are you two talking about? I didn't understand a single word."

Zhou Yun was stunned, then remembered he had just been communicating with Xiang Leina in Chinese.

Meng Ge couldn't understand it at all.

"We were praising how smart you are; Xiang Leina had nothing but praise for you, she was urging me to trust you more."

"I trust you like a ghost," Meng Ge cursed.

Then, a commotion came from Meng Ge's side.

"I've already snuck into the front of the line, I see the First Sector."

Hearing Meng Ge's voice, Zhou Yun also raised his head and looked into the distance.

The narrow path between the pipes ahead suddenly opened up, revealing a vast underground space.

This space was generally cylindrical, about sixty or seventy meters from the rubble-strewn ground to the ceiling where pipes coiled.

At a glance, it looked like a shaft leading straight from the underground to the firmament.

And in the very center of the shaft was a simple town surrounded by steel walls.

Various weapons and force field generators were mounted on the walls, and some Genestealers were patrolling them.

In the center of the town was a tall building with a portrait of the Four-Armed Hua Hua Hua Di Huang hanging on it; it was square and upright, its surface neatly covered in metal, looking very sci-fi.

Overlooking this building was the earliest human colony of Ashford, the First Sector of Fudia City.

The architecture of the entire colony still retained its appearance from ten thousand years ago, uniform and almost intact.

No wonder Meng Ge and the others had created so many plague zombies and still couldn't do anything about the Genestealers.

A colony that preserved technology from before the Great Crusade—let alone a group of cultists, even if a squad of Cadian Shock Troops came, it probably wouldn't be easy to break through.

If they attacked by force, they would probably be blasted into slag by those high-tech weapons on the walls.

Without using the Gellerpox, Meng Ge and these followers of the Father absolutely could not defeat the Genestealers.

A strange look appeared in Zhou Yun's eyes.

But if Meng Ge and the others were willing to perform a large-scale sacrifice and summon the Gellerpox...

The Gellerpox could fuse the infected with the metal and machinery around them, forming special zombies.

In a place like the First Sector, filled with many ancient technological artifacts, it would be invincible.

With the flesh of the Genestealers and the technology from ten thousand years ago, Zhou Yun could easily imagine how powerful the resulting Gellerpox zombies would be.

But in Zhou Yun's impression,

When the Tyranids descended on Ashford, the entire Fudia City didn't have a single plague zombie.

Could it be that Meng Ge and Margit were so easily crushed by the Genestealers?

That triangular sword made by sacrificing the entire Old Eighth Sector also seemed to have disappeared.

Just as Zhou Yun was wondering if the butterfly effect he brought had changed the historical trajectory of Ashford,

the bug by his ear began to vibrate its wings, transmitting Meng Ge's voice:

"I've entered the First Sector, now I'm mixed in with the first batch of believers receiving baptism."
