Chapter 695: Hive Mind: A bunch of super-males, that's enough!
"Fulgrim."
A hoarse whisper came from the mouth of the mixture of Fabius, Pater Mutatis, and the Norn Queen before Fulgrim.
The Hive Mind clearly realized Fabius's value. He devoured Fabius but did not destroy him, instead shaping Fabius into this appearance, using his will, his wisdom, and his understanding of biological genes to serve Himself.
The massive insect egg hanging from Fabius's abdominal cavity wriggled and twitched. A Tyranid organism in one of the egg follicles quickly took shape and broke out of the sac.
That was a Tyranid beast on all fours, but the limbs at the very front that did not touch the ground did not have the sickle claws common to Tyranid organisms; instead, they were a pair of tearing claws resembling wolf claws. Its head was also more massive than ordinary Tyranid organisms, and one could faintly see some characteristics of canine organisms. Its mouth was filled with sharp claws, and traces of psychic organs could be faintly seen behind its head.
This Tyranid beast moved, pouncing toward Fulgrim and the Children of the Phoenix squad led by Fulgrim like a giant wolf in the snowfield.
The tearing claws danced, turning into a winter blizzard pressing toward Fulgrim and the Children of the Phoenix.
But just at the moment before the sharp claws fell, the Fireblade hammer turned into a similarly dazzling hammer wind, blocking that pair of sharp tearing claws.
"Russ." Fulgrim lightly spat out the name of his barbarian brother. He could tell at a glance whose genes were integrated into the genetic sequence of this Tyranid organism.
Just as Fulgrim called out this name, the Tyranid organism opened its mouthparts. Its massive head instantly unfolded like flower petals, a bloody mouth larger than Fulgrim's body, filled with dense sharp tentacles, grasping long tongues, and sharp spines. These dense predatory organs pounced toward Fulgrim like a wolf pack.
Relying on Fabius's past teachings, Fulgrim quickly saw the design concept of this beast: a gluttonous beast modified using Russ's genetic sequence, with the Tyranid Ravenor as a template.
"Worthy of being the galaxy's number one glutton; even a Russ-like bug is the one who can eat the most."
Fulgrim laughed, orange-red firelight splashing from the Fireblade. The intense fire burned, and those hideous predatory mouthparts immediately shrank back a few centimeters. Fulgrim took the opportunity to flash his figure, exposing the Russ beast's massive mouthparts to the Children of the Phoenix squad.
In an instant, dense firepower wove into a net, shooting toward the Russ beast.
But the Russ beast's beastly eyes shrank abruptly, and a psychic power surged out, turning into a barrier that instantly blocked the Children of the Phoenix's concentrated firepower.
But the court swordsmen among the Children of the Phoenix flashed, instantly crossing that psychic barrier. Each of them was equipped with phase weapons provided by the Necrons, sharp emerald blades buzzing as they stabbed toward the Russ beast's body.
The Russ beast had to dodge, barely escaping from the net.
Although this beast used Russ's genetic sequence, the gap compared to the real Russ was too far, not even comparable to a pure clone.
Fabius clearly did not dare to create a pure clone, because the Primarch's genetic sequence was so powerful that just the instincts and genetic memories within it could contend with the Tyranid genetic sequence, capable of resisting the Hive Mind's control.
A completely cloned Primarch would definitely not be under the jurisdiction of the Hive Mind and would very likely view the swarm as an enemy due to the instincts in his genes.
Even for these Tyranid organisms that integrated part of the Primarch's genetic sequence, Fabius needed to consume mental energy to suppress their genetic memories and instincts.
Fulgrim left the Russ beast to the Children of the Phoenix to deal with, and he himself rushed toward Fabius alone.
But at this moment, the ground trembled and collapsed. A Tyranid organism resembling a giant python drilled out from directly beneath Fulgrim's body. It was clearly a Trygon, but it was completely different from an ordinary Trygon. This Trygon was covered in thick armor all over, even its head was covered by armor resembling a hood. Its six sickle limbs had all withered and degenerated into slender tentacles and had grown a large number of ugly venom glands. Those glands extended all the way to its back, forming swollen tumors... spraying out large amounts of mist-like venom, corroding the ground under its limbs.
And its tail was no longer a sharp spine, but a huge, sharp biological sickle. That sickle, wrapped in toxic gas like dark clouds, stabbed toward Fulgrim.
Clearly, the base of this organism was a Trygon, mixed with some design parts of a Venomthrope, and integrated with Mortarion's genes, endowing this giant beast with extraordinary toughness and toxin resistance.
It was precisely by relying on the toxin resistance brought by Mortarion's genetic sequence that this Trygon could produce several types of toxins that the Hive Mind had already finished designing but had never been able to produce. These toxins were designed by a race outside the galaxy to resist the Tyranid swarm; they were powerful, but if produced by other Tyranid organisms, they would even poison themselves.
Those toxic gases approaching Fulgrim contained billions of nano-sized insects. Each nano-insect could secrete high-concentration corrosive liquid and generate power through the biological coils the size of DNA in its body, driving the tiny drills at the front of these nano-insects to pump into the target's body.
In an instant, a dense layer of foam appeared on Fulgrim's power armor.
Fulgrim realized that this Mortarion-python was probably carefully designed by Fabius and the Hive Mind, and its strength was far higher than the Russ beast just now.
Fulgrim retreated hurriedly, wanting to distance himself from this Mortarion-python.
But at this moment, the Mortarion-python's tail lashed out abruptly, the sharp sickle blade wrapped in another completely different toxic gas approaching Fulgrim.
In the nano-insects within those toxic gases, the biological coils pumped out a positron and an electron. The two electrons instantly annihilated, releasing 551 keV of energy. Countless nano-insects combined together, and blinding light was released from the sickle blade, instantly engulfing Fulgrim's body.
But Fulgrim's figure also passed through those rays and toxic gases in the blink of an eye, rushing to the front of that giant insect at a speed that the Mortarion-python could not react to.
Beside Fulgrim, a mini-Doraemon held an adaptation lamp, silently shining it on Fulgrim, and then instantly disappeared into the air.
The Mortarion-python's reaction speed was very fast; those hood-like armors closed rapidly, covering the Mortarion-python's brain. ===== CHAPTER 696 =====
