Chapter 160: Nezha Feigns Defeat, Guanyin Recommends Erlang

~9 min read 1,769 words

Upon hearing that Nezha and the Liu Er Mihou had clashed, the Jade Emperor and Bodhisattva Guanyin hurriedly used the Haotian Mirror to observe.

They saw that in the Dongsheng Shenzhou of the lower realm, Nezha, stepping on his Wind-Fire Wheels and wielding his Fire-Tipped Spear, was locked in battle with the Liu Er Mihou.

However, the immortals in the Lingxiao Precious Hall, watching the two fight, gradually discovered something amiss; it seemed neither was fighting in earnest.

It turned out that Nezha did not know the Sun Wukong before him was a fake disguised as the Liu Er Mihou. Because he had always had a good friendship with Sun Wukong, he treated the fight primarily as a sparring match.

And the Liu Er Mihou, seeing that Nezha was not using his full strength, was merely playing along with the act, so naturally, he was unwilling to exert himself either.

Thus, the scene witnessed by the gods and immortals in the Lingxiao Precious Hall unfolded—the two exchanged blows, but both stopped just short of landing a hit.

Inside the Lingxiao Precious Hall, Pagoda-Bearing Li Tianwang Li Jing saw this scene, his vision darkened, and he hurriedly apologized to the Jade Emperor.

"Your Majesty, I fear this rebellious son is no match for that demon monkey. I shall go at once to assist in the battle!"

The Jade Emperor raised a hand to stop him: "Li Tianwang, wait. In my view, there is no need for you to go. As I see it, the outcome will soon be decided."

Li Jing had no choice but to obey, standing to the side to watch the battle.

Before long, in the Haotian Mirror, just as the Jade Emperor had said, after Nezha and the Liu Er Mihou had traded blows for a time, Nezha suddenly revealed a flaw and was struck by the Liu Er Mihou.

Nezha was grazed by the Heart-Following Iron Rod in the Liu Er Mihou's hand; given his cultivation, this could hardly be counted as a minor injury, yet he turned and fled.

This was because Nezha had always believed the one fighting him was the Sun Wukong who had once shared wine and laughter with him in the Heavenly Court, and he was unwilling to fight him to the death, so he was merely putting on a show.

Seeing Nezha flee, the Liu Er Mihou did not pursue; he put away the Heart-Following Iron Rod and disappeared from the Haotian Mirror's lock-on range with a single somersault.

A moment later, the "defeated" Nezha arrived at the Lingxiao Precious Hall to plead guilty: "I hope Your Majesty will punish me; that Sun Wukong possesses vast magical powers, and I am no match for him."

Seeing that Nezha showed no signs of injury, the Jade Emperor knew his intentions but did not expose him: "The Great God of the Santanhai Society has worked hard; go and tend to your wounds."

"Thank you, Your Majesty, for your mercy!" Nezha saluted and withdrew, no longer participating in this messy affair.

After Nezha left, the Jade Emperor looked at Bodhisattva Guanyin and said, "Bodhisattva, what was it you wished to say just now?"

Upon hearing this, Bodhisattva Guanyin pressed her palms together and chanted a Buddhist name: "Amitabha. Great Heavenly Sovereign, this humble monk feels it is not appropriate to act against the Demon Alliance at this time; it would be better to first capture that demon monkey."

The Jade Emperor nodded; he also knew that after the Demon Alliance had publicly declared they did not recognize the Liu Er Mihou as the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, it was not appropriate to keep hounding them.

He shook his head and sighed: "But that demon monkey possesses vast magical powers, and even the Great God of the Santanhai Society is no match for him. I wonder who could capture him?"

Bodhisattva Guanyin replied: "This humble monk knows of one person who could capture this villain."

"Oh? Who is it?" the Jade Emperor pressed.

Bodhisattva Guanyin said slowly: "It is Your Majesty's nephew, the Manifested Sage True Lord Erlang. He once slew the six monsters and has the Meishan brothers and the twelve hundred grass-headed gods before his tent; his magical powers are vast. The Great Heavenly Sovereign can issue a decree to mobilize troops, and if he is sent, he will surely succeed."

"Good!" The Jade Emperor immediately made the decision. "Let it be as the Venerable says! Someone, draft an imperial decree, and go at once to Guanjiangkou to summon the Erlang God Yang Jian to assist in the battle!"

The decree was issued, and an imperial messenger transformed into a golden light, not daring to delay for a moment, and headed straight for Guanjiangkou.

Guanjiangkou, Erlang God Temple.

The incense was flourishing, and believers came in an endless stream.

Inside the True Lord's Divine Hall behind the temple, a young divine general wearing silver battle armor, with a face like jade and a vertical eye on his forehead, was sitting in meditation with his eyes closed.

It was none other than the Manifested Sage True Lord who had achieved divinity in the flesh and shook the Three Realms, the Erlang God Yang Jian.

Suddenly, his eyes opened, and the third divine eye on his forehead also split open a crack, shooting out a golden light that looked toward the horizon.

"A decree from the Heavenly Court?" Yang Jian's brows furrowed slightly, and a trace of impatience appeared on his face.

As the Manifested Sage True Lord who listened to the summons but not the proclamations, he had always disliked participating in the messy affairs of the Heavenly Court.

If it were not necessary, he would not even bother to step into the Southern Heaven Gate.

Soon, a golden light landed outside the Divine Hall, transforming into the imperial messenger.

"This minor god pays respects to the True Lord." The messenger saluted respectfully and presented the Jade Emperor's imperial decree.

Yang Jian took the decree, swept it with his spiritual sense, and understood the cause and effect.

"The demon monkey Sun Wukong caused havoc in the Tiangong, stole immortal elixirs, and openly defied the Heavenly Court?"

No expression could be seen on Yang Jian's face.

He had heard of that monkey.

Regarding his actions, he could not say he felt any favor, nor could he say he felt any malice.

But he was, after all, a righteous god of the Heavenly Court, and now that the Jade Emperor had issued a mobilization order, it would not be good for him not to go.

"Understood," Yang Jian said indifferently. "You may return to report; I shall follow shortly."

"Yes, True Lord." The messenger did not dare say more, transformed into a golden light, and returned to the Heavenly Court.

Yang Jian stood up and shouted toward the outside of the hall: "Where are the Meishan brothers?"

As soon as the words fell, Kang, Zhang, Yao, Li, Guo, and Zhi, six sturdy generals clad in armor with fierce auras, walked in together.

"Elder brother, what are your orders?" asked Kang Anyu, who was at the head.

"Assemble the twelve hundred grass-headed gods before the tent and come with me for a trip," Yang Jian said, picking up his Three-Pointed Double-Edged Spear in a deep voice.

"Is it for that monkey who caused havoc in the Tiangong?" asked Guo Shen.

"Exactly." Yang Jian nodded, offered no further explanation, and walked out of the Divine Hall first.

The six Meishan brothers looked at each other, asked no more questions, and immediately went to assemble the troops.

Soon, twelve hundred elite grass-headed gods were assembled, and following Yang Jian, they rode auspicious clouds and headed toward the direction of the Dongsheng Shenzhou in a grand procession.

Above Huaguo Mountain.

Su Chen and the others, having repelled the heavenly soldiers and generals led by the Pagoda-Bearing Li Tianwang, did not relax and had been keeping a close watch on the movements of the Heavenly Court.

"They're here."

Su Chen sensed a powerful aura rapidly approaching.

The Bull Niu Mowang and the others also looked up one after another, gazing toward the distant horizon.

They saw a layer of clouds rolling in at a speed visible to the naked eye.

At the head of the clouds, a large banner with the character "Yang" fluttered in the wind, snapping loudly.

The person at the lead did not have three heads and six arms, but the third eye on his forehead and the iconic Three-Pointed Double-Edged Spear in his hand were enough to explain his identity.

"Yang Jian!"

The Bull Niu Mowang slowly spat out the two words, his eyes becoming immensely solemn.

His hand gripping the Iron-Mixed Staff tightened a few more notches.

Soon, Yang Jian led the Meishan brothers and the grass-headed gods to arrive above Huaguo Mountain.

Yang Jian's gaze swept over the Bull Niu Mowang, the Flood Dragon Niu Mowang, and the others.

Finally, it fell upon Su Chen, pausing slightly.

He was somewhat surprised that among this group of great demons, there was actually a human.

However, he did not dwell on it, merely turning his gaze toward Huaguo Mountain, which was being protected by the others.

He shouted loudly toward the mountain: "Sun Wukong! Why hide and skulk? Come out at once and fight me!"

His voice, like rolling thunder, spread throughout the entire Huaguo Mountain.

However, the mountain was silent, with only the sound of the wind in response.

"True Lord, I know you are a reasonable person." The Bull Niu Mowang stepped forward and bowed: "My seventh brother is currently in seclusion for cultivation. The one you are looking for is that imposter from the Heavenly Court; it has nothing to do with my seventh brother!"

"Oh?" Yang Jian raised an eyebrow and looked at the Bull Niu Mowang.

Before he came, he was only under orders to capture Sun Wukong; he knew nothing of any talk about true or false.

However, he was indeed a reasonable person, and he said: "Since that is the case, I will not make things difficult for you all. As long as you hand over that demon monkey, as for whether he is your seventh brother or not, I do not care."

For Yang Jian, the Jade Emperor told him to come and catch the monkey who caused havoc in the Tiangong, so he would catch the monkey.

As for whether this monkey was real or fake, once he caught him and took him back, the Jade Emperor could have the headache. ===== CHAPTER 161 =====
