Chapter 452: The Guaranteed Kill: The Peng
Inside the Demon Saint Hall, light and shadow flickered unpredictably, the flame of the eternal lamp casting mottled shadows on the walls.
Bai Ze’s smile faltered; he saw Su Chen’s solemn expression and knew this matter was no ordinary affair.
“What is it?” Bai Ze asked.
“Kill the Peng!”
At these words, Bai Ze’s pupils contracted sharply, his hands clenching tightly.
“Young friend, do you know what you’re saying?” Bai Ze’s voice was low. “The Peng is at the peak of a Semi-Saint, wielding several primordial magic treasures. His Peng-speed is unmatched—no one below a Saint can hold him. Even if we joined forces, we could only drive him back—how could we possibly kill him?”
“Elder, times have changed.” Su Chen smiled faintly. “He is no longer the composed Ancient Demon Master he once was.”
Su Chen paused, then continued: “Earlier, he sent a projection to disrupt the Three Realms, drawing their attention away, while his true body went to the Outer Void’s Starfall Abyss and found the primordial purple qi left behind by Hong Yun.”
“Primordial purple qi… becoming a Saint…” Bai Ze clenched his teeth, his voice hoarse, his whole body trembling uncontrollably.
This was not fear—it was ultimate fury, the despair of an unavenged wrong.
The horrific scene of the Ancient Demon Court’s destruction rolled through his mind: Di Jun dead, Tai Yi fallen, countless demon clan warriors drenched the Honghuang in blood. And one of the architects of this catastrophe—the traitor who fled the battlefield and stole the Hetu and Luoshu—was about to become a Saint!
“If he becomes a Saint…” Bai Ze gripped the edge of the table so tightly his fingers dug in, the wooden surface crumbling to dust, “his first target will be Sun Wukong, the heir to the Demon Emperor’s legacy. If the Demon Emperor is killed, the orthodox demon clan will know no peace, and all our plans will turn to ashes!”
Bai Ze leapt to his feet, stepping toward the hall’s exit.
“I shall awaken the Demon Emperor at once—we must leave the Northern Sea immediately and vanish into the Chaos! We cannot let that traitor find the Demon Emperor!”
“He… he cultivated it?” Bai Ze snapped his head up, eyes wide, his gaze filled with dread.
Seeing Bai Ze’s agitation, Su Chen quickly said: “Elder, rest assured—he did not cultivate it.”
“I followed him into the Outer Void. At the critical moment when his Dao was drawing in the primordial purple qi, I struck him a crushing blow.”
“I used the Chaos Bell to suppress that spacetime, and shattered his Dao’s connection with the Primordial True Intent. The purple qi, startled, fled into the void currents—and vanished completely.”
Su Chen recounted the events simply.
The Demon Saint Hall fell into a ten-breath-long silence.
Bai Ze stood frozen, eyes bulging, jaw slightly agape.
Su Chen had followed the Peng into the Outer Void, disrupted his path to sainthood at the critical moment, and escaped unscathed.
It was simply unbelievable!
“Good… good… good!”
But soon Bai Ze threw his head back and laughed aloud, his mirth shaking the very walls of the Demon Saint Hall.
He laughed wildly, crazily, two trails of tears streaming from his pale eyes, falling onto the floor.
Countless aeons of suppression, worry for the demon clan’s future, and burning hatred for the traitor—all erupted in this moment.
“Cut well! Severed well!” Bai Ze slammed his thigh hard. “That old scoundrel schemed his whole life—and ended up with nothing! The Dao of Heaven sees! The Dao of Heaven sees!”
Su Chen stood quietly beside him, watching Bai Ze release his emotions without interruption.
After his laughter subsided, Bai Ze composed himself, smoothing his disheveled white robe.
He stepped back three paces, turned to face Su Chen, clasped his hands together, and bowed deeply.
“Su Chen, young friend, please accept this bow from this old man.”
Su Chen did not evade—he accepted the bow without hesitation.
“Young friend, you are not only the Demon Emperor’s brother, but the true benefactor of our orthodox demon clan,” Bai Ze rose, his tone grave beyond measure. “You severed the Peng’s path to sainthood—you saved the Demon Emperor’s life, and preserved the foundation of our demon clan. This great grace, I shall never forget.”
“Elder, you overstate it. I am Brother Monkey’s brother—his affairs are mine. How could I stand idle?” Su Chen waved his hand. “Besides, I once promised an elder I would help her kill the Peng—I could not let him become a Saint.”
Here, Su Chen shifted the topic back to the matter at hand.
“When I left the Outer Void, Zhen Yuanzi, Doumu Yuanjun, Minghe Laozu, and Rendeng Gufu had already surrounded the Peng. Each had their own motives—some wished to subdue him, others to extract the whereabouts of the primordial purple qi. Though wounded, the Peng’s cunning and ability mean he will escape eventually. Once free, he will surely go to Huaguo Mountain to find me.”
Bai Ze nodded, eyes gleaming: “The enmity of a severed Dao is irreconcilable. He will spare no cost to kill you.”
“That’s why I’ve come to ask you to emerge from seclusion,” Su Chen looked at Bai Ze. “Chang Xi, the Lord of the Yin Moon, is currently guarding Huaguo Mountain. With you and me, the three of us can set a killing trap. This time, I will make sure he comes in—and never leaves.”
Upon hearing “Chang Xi,” Bai Ze’s eyes flickered with surprise—brief, then gone.
“Lady Chang Xi has also taken action? Excellent,” Bai Ze smiled broadly. “When Emperor Di Jun fell, she endured in silence all this time. With her aid, our chance to kill the Peng has greatly increased.”
Bai Ze paced within the hall, already calculating the battle strategy in his mind.
“The Peng’s speed is peerless. To kill him, we must completely seal off all escape routes. Young friend, you wield the Chaos Bell—you can suppress spacetime without issue. But a peak Semi-Saint’s final, desperate counterattack may still break free of even the Chaos Bell.”
Bai Ze halted, turning to Su Chen.
“I possess a great array left behind by the Ancient Demon Court—called the ‘Zhou Tian Jue Ling Array.’ It does not focus on destruction, but on sealing. Once activated, it cuts off all spiritual energy within a hundred thousand li and locks the space. Combined with your Chaos Bell, it will turn Huaguo Mountain into an absolute killing ground—he will enter, but never exit!”
Su Chen’s eyes lit up—he had been worrying how to fully restrict the Peng’s speed; this array was perfect.
“How long will it take to set up the array?” Su Chen asked.
“This array is extremely complex—it requires 365 array flags buried into the earth veins. Even with my full strength, it will take three days,” Bai Ze mused.
“Three days is enough,” Su Chen calculated. “Those old devils in the Outer Void aren’t easy to deceive—the Peng won’t escape without shedding layers of skin. He won’t reach Huaguo Mountain within three days.”
“Good!” Bai Ze waved his hand. “No time to waste—I’ll accompany you to Huaguo Mountain at once.”
Bai Ze turned and called out sternly toward the hall’s exit: “Xuan Ming! You five, enter!”
At once, five figures appeared inside the Demon Saint Hall.
Five Great Luo Jinxian stood within, their expressions solemn.
“Elder, what is your command?”
Bai Ze’s gaze swept over the five, his tone grave.
“I shall be leaving Demon Emperor Island for a time. From this moment, the island is under total lockdown—the Reception Array is shut down. You five, guard the Demon Emperor Hall with your lives. If any enemy comes, even if you are the last one standing, even if you spill your last drop of blood—you must protect the Demon Emperor! Understood?”
“We understand! We swear to protect the Demon Emperor with our lives!” the five shouted in unison.
Having made his arrangements, Bai Ze turned to Su Chen.
His white robe stirred without wind, a terrifying aura of an Ancient Demon Saint rising from his body—he was impatient.
“Go!” Bai Ze’s eyes shot out white light. “To Huaguo Mountain! I have waited countless aeons for this day. This time, I will use this traitor’s blood to honor the fallen spirits of the Demon Court!”
