She felt it lacked a main plot—the protagonist had no clear purpose or goal, and it seemed like something made up on a whim.

But honestly, I’m just not good at long-term planning, just like my own life: living is simply living; there’s no need for grand ideals.

So what I write leans toward daily life, toward the mundane, toward an ordinary existence, stealing moments of leisure amid busyness…

I only hope that when you have free time and flip through my book, you’ll smile quietly, shed a few tears, and find some relief from life’s pressures—that’s enough.

I have no great ambitions; whether in real life or in the protagonist of my book, I’m the same as countless ordinary people—just striving to live a good life, and that’s enough to make this journey worthwhile.

Not every life needs a goal, and not every book needs a main plot; even though this book now has a main plot, it will still lean heavily toward daily life.

I’ve read many reader comments wondering why, after obtaining the Ten Thousand Souls Banner, the protagonist doesn’t try to boost his strength, become a Buddha or ancestor, or tower above all others, feeling the banner is wasted on him and that it doesn’t match the novel’s title…

I want to say: does a life of kingship and domination count as life, but an ordinary person’s life doesn’t?

Also, my book’s title is already clear: it’s called the Human Emperor Banner, not the Ten Thousand Souls Banner—I’m writing about people, not gods…
