Chapter 935: Blood and Guts, But It Works

~6 min read 1,075 words

Filia?

Hearing the familiar voice from the speaker, Prince Andrei furrowed his brow slightly, while Atphi 00 raised a hand to press against the back of his skull where the information chip was implanted.

“Fake.”

After closing his eyes and allocating computational power for analysis, Atphi 00 opened his eyes and stated with absolute certainty:

“Though slightly distorted by the speaker, this voice was generated by a synthetic vocal tube—a synthetic composite audio playback by an intelligent machine, not Filia’s real voice. It confirms that the missing Atphi 128 is indeed in their hands.”

“Whether these words were spoken by Filia no longer matters.”

Recovering from his shock, Andrei shook his head and frowned:

“The real issue now is how many people heard these words, and how many will be convinced by them.”

“The situation isn’t optimistic…”

After a brief calculation, Atphi 00 said with a hint of resignation:

“The morning news broadcast was transmitted through the entire kingdom’s public speakers. Anyone awake must have heard it. Excluding shift workers and night-duty personnel, roughly 75% of the population is currently listening.”

“75%?”

Prince Andrei paused, then spoke:

“Send people immediately to repair the signal stations. Don’t fix them all—just prioritize two or three to ensure the signal can be transmitted. Then don’t cut the broadcast signal. Let them keep talking.”

“Why?”

Atphi 00 blinked in surprise, then asked, puzzled:

“The signal stations are already being repaired, but why not cut the signal? What they’re saying now is deadly to you—if you let them keep going…”

“If you forcibly cut the signal and silence them abruptly, that’s when you’ll truly be killing me.”

Prince Andrei said coldly:

“Most people still only half-believe what they’re saying. But if you cut the signal and silence them, I’ll never be able to explain myself. Only by letting them keep speaking—and then inserting myself into the broadcast—can I…”

“Bang!”

At that moment, a gunshot erupted from the speaker. Immediately, the “Filia” who had been denouncing Prince Andrei’s mad actions let out a cry of pain, as if she had collided with something. A burst of loud noise filled the microphone, along with Leon’s anxious voice:

“Princess Filia! Are you alright?”

Then, from far away in the “broadcast studio,” a sharp, tense voice rang out through the speaker:

“Shoot! Make them shut up! Don’t let them say another word!”

Dammit.

Hearing the chaotic footsteps and the pained moans of the shot “Filia,” Prince Andrei closed his eyes and sighed deeply, knowing the enemy had once again moved ahead of him.

And if his guess was right, Filia being shot was only the beginning—something even deadlier was surely waiting for him next.

“I… I’m fine…”

As expected, after several agonized groans, the seemingly shot “Filia” returned to the microphone, her voice muffled but still clearly discernible:

“Let me… let me finish…”

“No! You need to get medical help right away!”

Leon urgently pleaded through the speaker:

“Damn it, your lung’s been shot through! You’re bleeding everywhere! Stop talking—I have to get you out of here now!”

“No! Let me… let me keep going!”

Amid increasingly dense gunfire, the lung-shot “Filia” coughed up a mouthful of blood, then, as if seized by a final surge of strength, cried out with a trembling voice:

“For this chance, many of us have died. I can’t… I can’t let their sacrifices be in vain!

Citizens of the Krook Kingdom! Be careful! Do not… do not let our nation be destroyed by Andrei’s ambition! You… must protect yourselves… never, never let him… control you… he will…”

“Bang!”

The other “rebels” blocking the guards outside appeared to have been overwhelmed. The speaker rang with the sound of a door being kicked open. The same sharp voice that had ordered the shooting shouted again:

“Shoot! Shoot! Cut the line! You go report to the Prince! Damn it! Fire now!”

“Stop!”

Leon roared through the speaker:

“She’s Princess Filia! The Sixth Princess! You’re…”

“Shut up! There is no Sixth Princess! Shoot! I order you—shoot her dead!!!”

“You bastards… you’ve been controlled?!”

“Citizens of the Krook Kingdom! Please… please protect yourselves… stay away from Andrei—he will…”

“Shoot! Shoot! Damn it! Give me the gun!”

“Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!”

“Zzz…”

“…”

This time, it’s truly bad…

Watching the speaker fall completely silent, Prince Andrei sighed after hearing the entire “morning drama,” then said to Atphi 00, who had been stunned into silence:

“Hurry and repair the signal stations. Then quickly announce on my behalf that…”

“Zzz…”

The silent speaker suddenly crackled again. The voice that had ordered the soldiers to shoot now spoke with a repulsive tone, arrogantly declaring:

“Citizens of the Krook Kingdom! I am a personal guard of Prince Andrei. Just now, a group of rebels attempting to overthrow the kingdom seized Princess Filia and forced her to publicly lie and slander the royal family. The broadcast you just heard is pure nonsense.

That rebel group has now been driven off. To prevent their return and further spread of lies, the First Broadcast Zone is temporarily under military control—all broadcasts are suspended indefinitely.

Finally, the residential district 3-15, where Celebration Street is located, will be temporarily merged. All citizens must report there. Prince Andrei will personally appear at the celebration to explain everything that happened today… That’s all. End of broadcast. Cut the signal!”

“Zzz…”

“Good job.”

After blasting the microphone with a single shot, Leon tossed the Atphi 128, still simulating the moans of a wounded man, back into the Mirror World, then picked up the black goat, who looked disappointed, and turned to the terrified female broadcaster:

“Sorry, but now…”

“No! Don’t shoot!”

Hearing Leon’s words, the female broadcaster—who had just witnessed the entire voice-dubbed drama—went weak at the knees, eyes wide with terror:

“I-I promise I won’t say a word! Please!”

“Relax. I’m not here to kill you.”

Leon shook his head helplessly and explained:

“I just wanted to tell you… never mind. Franky, you handle it.”

“Understood.”

Amid the broadcaster’s terrified scream, a spray of transparent fishing line shot from the black goat’s mouth, wrapping around her and dozens of other employees, then hauling them all out of the building.

As Leon patted the black goat’s head and confirmed no one had been left behind inside the building, he grabbed the fishing line and followed them out. Once on the ground, he turned and hurled a grenade at the window behind him.

“Boom!”

All set~
