Chapter 101: Are You Really Going to Hit Me?
Although he really wanted to dismiss Sara's words as nonsense, Feng Xue still felt it better to believe them than to risk ignoring them when life was at stake.
But seeing he still gave no response, Sara grew visibly anxious and immediately added:
"If you encounter combat, you may attempt to knock the host unconscious; at that point, I can temporarily take control of the host's body to fight and survive, per the Emergency Survival Protocol, Seventh Revised Edition."
"You can do that? Then why don't you just fight yourself? After all, that guy won't resist!" Feng Xue rolled his eyes, but Sara replied solemnly:
"Do you think the people who wrote these regulations didn't consider this?"
"Then didn't they consider someone helping an AI do it?" Feng Xue felt this argument had glaring loopholes—but then Sara said just one sentence that silenced him:
"You're not human, and you're not lethal. This AI does not intervene against pets of negligible threat level playing with the host, just as it wouldn't kill a pet cat for scratching the host while being played with."
"I fucking—" He forcibly swallowed the curse, but at least the logic now made sense.
If Sara was telling the truth, then bringing these two along really did seem to have only advantages?
"No, think again! Think again!"
Feng Xue took a deep breath, eager to demonstrate his full combat power for Sara's evaluation—but feared his power level might raise his threat rating.
After some thought, he gently rubbed the 【Ghost】 jade tablet and pulled a wisp of ghostly energy from the scroll.
"Detected divine power · spiritual energy, moderate vitality, threat level: low. Combat power assessment erroneous, re-evaluating… Your combat skill upgraded to standard."
Hearing Sara's words, Feng Xue nodded slightly. It seemed ghostly energy was also classified as divine power—but he wondered whether Mo Ying would be deemed a weak deity.
By the way…
"Is using divine power considered a combat skill?"
"Yes. Any force influencing combat is classified as a combat skill. Support personnel, even without direct combat capability, hold immense value; evaluation does not overlook this aspect. Classifying you as a melee fighter was my error. Reclassifying: Wild One as anthropoid primate indigenous civilization shaman-type divine vessel. Correction complete."
"..." Feng Xue now suspected this thing's sarcasm might be deliberate. He turned his head to glance at "Jade Syndrome" (Note ①), still sitting dazed under the tree, and suddenly thought of a question—
"Do you think I could knock her out? Even if she doesn't resist?"
"..." Sara was clearly stunned by Feng Xue's question, froze for a long while, then suddenly projected a 3D model of Phina from his collar, highlighting multiple locations in red—
"Given the combat capability of the protocol subject is excessively weak, to better fulfill the protocol, combat techniques are now being transmitted via the 'Knowledge Exchange' rule. Lesson One: Human Vital Points and Defense. Wild One, pay close attention."
"..."
Feng Xue watched as Phina "seriously" demonstrated each red-marked vital point, stressing that strikes here could cause unconsciousness and must be protected, and he couldn't help doubting this AI's actual composition.
Is this thing really just an auxiliary AI like a Spirit Ball?
Even so, Feng Xue diligently memorized Sara's teachings, even pulling out a notebook to take notes.
Compared to Liu Yunxi's practical training, Sara's instruction was more theoretical—but correspondingly, more precise.
Yet Sara clearly had no intention of giving him a full combat training regimen. After explaining the vital points likely to cause unconsciousness, the projection shut off, and the cold, mechanical voice continued:
"Instruction complete."
Whether it was an illusion or not, Feng Xue always felt unusually vulnerable around this AI—but he couldn't reveal his weaknesses, so he gritted his teeth and asked:
"When do you think we should depart?"
"Although I should advise you to first construct a sufficiently stable vehicle, analysis of prior dialogue indicates you possess a small boat. Judgment: This island's resources cannot produce a reliable vehicle. Assuming Wild One's vehicle is reliable, and referencing current hydrological conditions, you should depart from the island's southeast shore two hours from now, using the offshore current and wind to break through the ring-shaped current surrounding this island…"
"Wait, what's a ring-shaped current?" Feng Xue raised his hand to ask. Sara projected a rough 3D sandbox: an island with a mountain peak submerged, only its tip visible above water—
"Due to this island's unique structure, lower ocean currents are deflected by the mountain walls, creating rotation that prevents external drifters from approaching and traps internal drifters. According to current models, departing from the southeast shore with the offshore current gives a 30% chance of breaking through the ring-shaped current in one attempt. Worst case: we must spend two days adjusting within the ring current, using centrifugal force to break the current barrier. If confirmed, prepare five days' supplies before boarding—current dried fish meet minimum survival standards; host carries seawater purification unit, sufficient freshwater obtainable. Correction: Tonight is the optimal time!"
As Sara marked every possible detail of the voyage on the projection screen, Feng Xue suddenly felt like he was back in high school physics class.
Fortunately, he wasn't solving problems—Sara didn't need him to calculate anything, but instead listed exactly when to adjust course and when to push straight ahead.
Feng Xue studied it for a while. Though he disliked being led by the nose, he had to admit: following this AI's plan was the best choice.
After all, excluding fishing, his food supply lasted only seven days for one person—even with chocolate, candy, and emergency rations, ten days was the absolute limit, and fishing couldn't guarantee nutritional needs.
More importantly…
He couldn't beat this dog!
So obeying the protocol, taking this dead weight and combat liability to sea, really did seem the only viable option. And considering this was the Nautical World, ships over a hundred tons couldn't be rare—if pirates appeared, he could simply "gamble" his way out of this absurd hybrid world. As for natural threats…
Sorry, Feng Xue had the Water-Walking Spell.
If anything went wrong, he'd sprint across the ocean while unleashing Qi—faster than this dumb dog could run!
Still, one issue remained:
He acted on impulse—suddenly stood up, walked over to Phina, and struck the back of her skull!
"Woof!"
The dumb dog let out a ferocious growl, but Feng Xue nodded in satisfaction:
"Oh, so she can be knocked out. Hey, Sara—take over her body and fight me. Don't use full power. Just prove you actually have combat ability like you claimed!"
Hearing Feng Xue, Sara made no move, only emitted a cold alert: "Apologies. Your threat level is insufficient to trigger Emergency Survival Protocol. I cannot take control of the host's body. If you require combat, I may issue a play command to the Wild Wolf."
