Chapter 201: Easy Victory
Blue arcs exploded across Feng Xue's body; a faint breeze stirred behind him, and his sudden acceleration caused the other two soldiers' attacks to miss entirely—the hiss of blades slicing through air sounded like a mocking laugh.
Passing the two soldiers, Feng Xue's palm flickered with arcs, but more attacks came rushing at him!
"Activate combat assist! Don't trust your eyes! Use AI and instinct!" Yuan Fei's roar erupted—the illusions created by Mo Ying's Ghost Veil were utterly ignored; thermal-targeting attacks easily detected the unstable heat generated by Feng Xue's Call Fire Spell, and the vibrating particle daggers were already at his front.
Liu Yunxi's evasion training had finally paid off: Feng Xue fixed his gaze on the sharp blade, shifted his body slightly, triggered the belt mechanism with a soul command, and subtly adjusted the formation of the Divine Step Talisman.
The originally linear force skewed slightly; the particle dagger, capable of slicing through homogeneous armor, veered off course—its edge, mere half an inch from his throat, could not inch closer.
Yet just as Feng Xue took pride in his modification of the Divine Step Spell, a sharp, piercing mechanical whine—unremarkable in volume but deafening due to proximity—suddenly sounded; the soldier before him twisted his arm at an unnaturally rigid angle.
The dagger, already sliding past, reversed direction with a jerking motion, accompanied by the crunch of bones.
"AI, huh?"
Thanks to his strengthened soul from cultivation, Feng Xue's thoughts were crystal clear—he pushed off with his toes and lunged forward over a foot; the forcibly twisted blade swept empty air behind him, while Feng Xue had already closed the distance into the soldier's chest.
The exoskeleton's enhanced strength was astonishing—this collision didn't budge the soldier even half a step. But Feng Xue never intended to brawl with this tin can—he flicked a drop of murky black "sludge" with his fingers, dropped into a crouch, and, like a soccer player dribbling past, slid past the soldier's side.
Only then did the soldier's arms, attempting to embrace him, finally collide with his chest—by then, Feng Xue was already behind him.
"Puff!"
Without sound, the soldier in the exoskeleton collapsed—Feng Xue was about to charge toward the suspected commander when a whistling sound struck his nape—the two soldiers he'd bypassed had just thrown magnetic hook-lines, whose alloy chain-blades formed an odd structure in midair and, under AI control, coiled toward him in grotesque, twisting motions.
"Now this is more like it—otherwise winning wouldn't feel satisfying," Feng Xue smirked, resetting the Divine Step Spell. Combined with Mo Ying's Ghost Veil, he instantly created three afterimages; though the belt's passive Call Fire Spell lacked variation, its localized heat rise also enveloped his immediate area, making optical tracking unable to lock his position precisely.
The chain-blades swung empty—Feng Xue flicked two drops of black sludge backward; this time, perhaps due to sufficient reaction distance, the auxiliary AI finally caught the subtle change—
"Warning: Special electromagnetic field detected. Please observe protocol…"
"Electromagnetic ability?" Yuan Fei frantically recalled his military academy training and shouted:
"Activate interference field!"
A high-energy-consuming function was voice-activated; seeing Feng Xue down two more soldiers, Yuan Fei immediately exercised his command authority—
"Awakening injection! Confirm! Secondary confirm! Tertiary confirm! Hurry! All combatants, forced injection! High-AI assist mode activated! Confirm! Confirm!"
"Are you sure…" The AI hadn't finished its first confirmation when Yuan Fei had already spouted a torrent of lines—his screen flashed red, then returned to green.
Yuan Fei was deeply grateful he'd practiced this "confirmation script" as his uncle advised—but the next instant, his face paled, for he clearly felt a sharp pain in his wrist.
"Damn it, I'm the commander…"
"Frontline commander belongs to combatant tier," the AI replied coldly. The auxiliary unit instantly reshaped—electrodes pierced his body; under the drizzle, these steel constructs began steaming.
"Movement changed?" Feng Xue swiftly pressed the Jade Seal, adjusting his elemental ratio to three Fire, two Metal.
A cyan-blue Lei Guang erupted from his body—but the soldiers, instead of collapsing as their predecessors had, staggered forward like zombies, continuing their assault.
"Mo Ying, hit him!" As the attack neared, Feng Xue thought urgently—but Mo Ying replied instantly:
"No. His consciousness is completely deranged! Excitement level too high—I can't control it!"
"Damn, so this is the Japanese classic move?" Feng Xue's face darkened—he shifted his thought, and a high-frequency military blade slashed across the soldier's body, cleaving him in two like butter under a hot knife.
But in the next instant, the figure shrank—bamboo stalks split from the center, and the soldier who swung the blade finally collapsed completely.
"Assessment: Combat disparity too great. Recommend withdrawal…"
A string of text flashed across Yuan Fei's visor, but he was now fully hyped and utterly oblivious—he fired one hand, wielded a blade in the other, and charged toward Feng Xue amid the thunder of electromagnetic rounds.
The enemy identification system caused the electromagnetic rounds to stutter; brilliant light erupted from the thermite-filled special military blade, and the sudden heat surge turned the drizzle into thick white mist.
"Hah!" Feng Xue sneered—even through the mist, the glowing blade was far too conspicuous. He easily evaded its path and even had time to trigger the Call Fire Spell to boost his heat resistance.
But then his soul suddenly jolted—a dread sensation exploded; Mo Ying's warning followed instantly—and he had already reacted first.
As the Substitute Technique activated, his body was transported into midair by Mo Ying—while an orange beam sliced through the night.
"Damn, so that's why they didn't equip lasers—turned out they deployed drones? Well, I've sweated enough—time to wrap this up before it gets messy!"
Feng Xue muttered inwardly, gazing down at the seven remaining soldiers, pressing the Jade Seal one by one—elemental energy and magical force surged through his meridians.
"Snap!"
The faint crackle of static was unremarkable in the rainy night—but as if triggering a mechanism, arcs leapt through the rain, forming a web of electricity.
As Feng Xue's fingers danced like playing a piano, the Five Elements' ratio was instantly disrupted—the cyan lightning transformed into thick, murky black, mingling with the rain and falling together.
"Hmm, little bell, connect to AI—better finish early so I can check how Tina stitched up the kidneys!"
