Chapter 287: The Dice Goddess, the Dice Goddess, Tell Me What You Really Want to Do
While the cultivators of Lu City were pondering how to resolve the mess at the train station, Feng Xue had already packed all his belongings and set out on the road again.
Although he had originally intended to find Old Li, he suddenly realized he had no way to locate him at all.
Though the teaching session was supposedly ending the next day, Feng Xue didn't believe he could calmly wait for Old Li to show up after causing such a huge disturbance in Lu City.
Of course, he didn't truly regret it, because even if he hadn't let that Deng Miss experience the evil of "eating shrimp," he still couldn't have stayed—after all, he couldn't explain why he'd appeared at the train station in the middle of the night with all his possessions, just as the Nian Beast blocked the entrance.
The Deng family had at least been established locally for over a hundred years; if it came to a showdown before the City God, Feng Xue truly couldn't say whether the locals would believe him or them.
Not to mention he was an illegal resident—no one in the living world knew him, but who knew if the underworld's records were clean?
After careful consideration, he decided to leave Lu City, this place that clashed with him, and wander this vast land to refine his cultivation and seek breakthrough.
"So why a horse?"
The transformed, towering horse, Liu Yunxi, let out a listless complaint; Feng Xue, hearing this, let out a huge yawn:
"Haah~ I actually wanted to turn you into a cart, but given this terrible road, I figured riding a horse would be more comfortable—and I wouldn't even have to watch the path. Of course, if you're willing, we could just turn into a unified donkey-cart or horse-cart? Then I could sleep soundly…"
"Forget it, do as you please." Feeling the heavy pressure on her body, Liu Yunxi dared not say more; ever since returning to this world, she could clearly sense the burden on her—whether from piling debts or from being judged by the Human Dao's spiritual mechanism as a suspect who'd fled with funds, she felt deeply uneasy, convinced an accident could strike at any moment.
With night still deep, Liu Yunxi, beneath the winter moonlight, felt colder than expected; after walking about two li, she suddenly sensed something was wrong and sighed:
"At least give me a direction, okay? Don't think turning me into a horse means I can find the way—I only know the route from Lu City to…"
"Zzzzz… Zzzzz…"
"What the hell, you're actually asleep?" Liu Yunxi seemed incredulous, but dared not disturb him due to her massive debt; fortunately, the little bell was still awake, sensing her emotions and immediately replied:
"That thing you poked him with earlier was powerful—though it looked like just a tiny stick, it severely damaged his primordial energy. But he's not short of it; let him rest, and he'll be fine."
Hearing this, Liu Yunxi immediately softened her voice and slowed her steps, afraid of jolting Feng Xue; yet after walking another hundred meters, she still felt this couldn't go on and said: "So which way should we go next? Aren't you the Guiding Goddess? Give us a direction?"
"I do hold the divine office of guidance, but I'm the 'Now Goddess'—I need sufficient information and a clear goal to perform guidance. But here, I'm completely in the dark; there's no wireless network, not even a decent map—how am I supposed to guide you?"
The little bell was equally helpless, leaving Liu Yunxi to figure it out herself.
Liu Yunxi sighed and asked:
"Alright, pretend I'm your devotee—I want to repay my debt. Can you guide me?"
"Insufficient information. I can't determine anything clearly—just follow any route you can think of." The little bell activated her divine power, but achieved nothing; relying only on Liu Yunxi's fate trajectory, she offered a "good luck" recommendation.
Liu Yunxi didn't care—she figured even blind guidance was better than no direction at all; after a moment's thought, she chose a path, gathered moonlight, and followed the only route she knew…
…
"Haah~ How did I fall asleep…" Morning sunlight fell on him, but Feng Xue shivered—his clothes were dusted with frost in the New Year's Eve mist; fortunately, his garments were made from high-tech materials of the pre-cataclysm Sea World, or his weak body would've suffered terribly through the night.
Yet with his vigilance—even with Liu Yunxi, the little bell, and Mo Ying guarding him—he shouldn't have fallen asleep so easily; he jolted awake instantly, fully alert, and immediately checked his status.
"Looks fine. Could that gray rat have cursed me?" Feng Xue scratched his head, glancing at his locked lifespan—eight thousand wasn't long, but it wasn't negligible either.
"Didn't you say yesterday he was injured by that toothpick and lost primordial energy? Why aren't you saying anything now?"
As Feng Xue wondered, the horse beneath him suddenly spoke; the little bell, hearing this, sighed:
"You didn't ask me, and knowing your nature, even if I told you, you'd still check yourself—better to let you check first."
Feng Xue silently thought, "This thing is an AI idiot," and finally gave up on lecturing the little bell, turning instead to survey his surroundings.
He hadn't noticed before, but now he realized—he or rather Liu Yunxi—was standing in a queue!
Though he was just as clueless about this world, for some reason, the surroundings felt oddly familiar.
"Where did you bring me? Is this still within the country?"
"Of course it's within the country—I only know this one road, so naturally we followed the way we came. Isn't this a queue to enter the city?"
"Enter the city?" Feng Xue looked ahead through the crowd and saw the two large characters on the city gate: "Port Capital"—his face darkened immediately—
"Why did you bring me to this dump?"
"I only know this road… I know the way to Ping'an County too, but I figured you used your real name there, and since the two places are close, going there might expose you… so isn't Port Capital fine?" Liu Yunxi spoke timidly as Feng Xue's tone turned sharp; Feng Xue felt his patience snap.
But this was his own fault for not giving directions; he sighed:
"Didn't you forget why we fled Ping'an County?"
"Wasn't it just because you killed two thugs? But back then you were just starting cultivation and feared thugs—now you've fought space shuttles, so why fear thugs?"
Liu Yunxi couldn't understand Feng Xue's thinking; hearing this, Feng Xue slapped his forehead…
"Right! I'm a master now!"
