Chapter 304: The Crude Stupidity of One Untouched by Society

~6 min read 1,014 words

Seeing Feng Xue finally show signs of tension, Delis felt boundless satisfaction and immediately explained:

“Though I don’t know where your original world is, as an illegal transmigrator, you surely have no way to return there, right? Even if you truly sealed the Demon Dragon and extracted the stolen fortune energy, you’d still be trapped in this world—but if you sign a contract with me and become a Hero, I can use official channels to send you back to your homeland once, to return that fortune energy.”

“What do I have to give in return?” Feng Xue’s gaze turned dangerous, yet he still asked.

“You must go to other worlds and slay Demon Kings—yes, creatures similar to the Demon Dragon. Their existence disrupts world balance and destabilizes reality, requiring a Hero like you to eliminate them.” Delis tried to sound casual, but Feng Xue paused briefly before replying:

“If your goal is to kill Demon Kings, why don’t you do it yourselves? You’ve got the technology to cross worlds—surely you’re not weaker than a Hero?”

“It’s not like that,” Delis said, finally gaining confidence, and spoke seriously to Feng Xue:

“Lower worlds are called ‘lower’ precisely because they’re unstable and easily disturbed…”

Here, Delis seemed to search for a metaphor suitable for Eastern cultivators, but then noticed Feng Xue’s smart wristwatch and brightened:

“You wear a smart wristwatch, so you understand the concept of information, right? Demon Kings affect world operations not because of their combat strength, but because their ‘information volume’ has surpassed a critical threshold—merely by existing, they disrupt the world’s functioning (Note ①).

The Heavenly Realm contains beings far stronger than Demon Kings, but their information volume is equally immense; if they enter a lower world without permission, they too would disrupt the world, and as outsiders, might even trigger even greater disasters.

“To solve this, the Heavenly Realm activated the Hero selection mechanism: deploying Heroes from lower worlds, whose information volume is low, into corresponding worlds, allowing them to grow and adapt to the local information environment, thereby minimizing the disturbances caused by slaying Demon Kings.”

At this point, Delis noticed Feng Xue staring at her, and felt a flicker of unease, yet she pressed on:

“Of course, not everyone in the Heavenly Realm has high information volume. Individuals like me, who haven’t assumed a divine office, have relatively low information volume—so moving around in lower worlds is fine. But our combat power is also low, and because we’re bound by the Heavenly Realm’s system, absorbing lower-world information to learn local powers is far harder, making it nearly impossible to fight Demon Kings with higher information volume.”

Feng Xue silently nodded, grasping the Heavenly Realm’s logic: as long as he didn’t recklessly travel to the Heavenly Realm, he needn’t fear some high-tier deity coming down to beat him up.

Having confirmed this, he grew bolder, beginning to consider what advantages he could extract from this “goddess-in-waiting.”

As Feng Xue thought this over, an idea gradually formed, and he nodded:

“Since you’re a Heavenly Realm deity, you must possess some technologies beyond mortal comprehension, right?”

“Of course! The Heavenly Realm’s magic and technology are unimaginable to you!” Delis lifted her head proudly, beaming. Feng Xue merely replied with a flat “Oh,” then turned and walked toward the Hidden Village.

“Hey, wait, where are you going?”

Seeing Feng Xue suddenly leave, Delis panicked and grabbed his wrist again. Feng Xue frowned and said:

“My research has hit a bottleneck. If you can help me solve it, I’ll believe you’re truly from that Heavenly Realm.”

“What do you mean ‘believe’? Do I, a Heavenly Realm goddess, need your belief?” Delis grumbled, but obediently followed him into the village. Seeing the clearly non-living constructs around her, she felt a pang of awe, yet still said:

“These constructs are decently made, but their drive mechanisms are outdated, and they have zero life energy—anyone with even basic spiritual sight can spot them at a glance.”

“I know,” Feng Xue replied indifferently, leaving Delis feeling as if she’d punched air, a bad premonition rising in her chest.

Could her school-taught knowledge possibly suffice against someone who built such refined constructs?

Delis hadn’t lied—the Heavenly Realm’s technology and magic were highly advanced—but only if you were willing to learn. As a top student who’d passed three divine offices while still in school, and who’d devoted herself entirely to the civil service exam after graduation, she’d mastered only “exam-oriented magic.” For Feng Xue’s clearly Eastern system, she genuinely felt uneasy.

The two walked in sequence to the back courtyard of the Hidden Village. Delis instantly spotted players playing in feces on the square, and finally understood what Feng Xue had meant earlier—her face twisted in disgust. But then she remembered something:

“Why does the Exile Lands have such a ridiculous spell?”

Seeing Delis frozen by the player’s spell, Feng Xue offered a polite but awkward smile. This spell had now become mandatory for players—there was no choice: when PvP broke out, the only way to stop an enemy from using Shrimp-Rice was to use it yourself.

This was what they called “Shrimp-Rice Deterrence.”

“What I want you to see is this spell.”

“Eeek!” Delis recoiled two steps, staring at Feng Xue with alarm. Yet Feng Xue maintained his cold expression:

“This spell seems vulgar, but it possesses an unusual trait. I don’t know what you call this power in the Heavenly Realm, but it’s a spell capable of creating a ‘god.’”

“A god? What god? The God of Defense?” Delis’s first reaction was disdain, yet she decided to try understanding. As her field gear activated, data streams flashed before her eyes—her expression turned to shock:

“Impossible? Divine power? How? How could the Exile Lands have divine power?”

“I don’t know either. These spells themselves evolved from the power I seized from the Demon Dragon. When I first discovered they generated wish-energy, I was even more shocked than you!”

Feng Xue himself felt a complex mix of emotions—who could have imagined wish-energy emerging from such a spell?
