Chapter 307: The Actor
Seeing that he had successfully fooled them, Feng Xue exhaled in relief and immediately pretended to begin preparing the ritual.
While Feng Xue appeared busy, Delais’s gaze remained fixed on Monster X—the demonic dragon with a faint bio-horror aura—whose karmic response was minimal, yet she understood that any being recognized by the Exile Lands as a Demon King could not possibly lack combat prowess.
“So this Demon King must be one who hadn’t yet caused major damage—or perhaps even one who wouldn’t need heavenly intervention, and would be slain by a hero anyway?”
Delais thought this, but decided to observe closely. At that moment, the Professional Player Guild had already made contact with Monster X; colorful holy sword spells slashed through the air in dazzling streaks. Though none had trained deeply in the Hidden Village, these players had developed numerous skills using the first-generation talismans—skills they could use without understanding how they worked.
“Damn thief!” Monster X’s thick twin tails severed a player at the waist, its sharp dragon claws tearing apart every enemy that dared approach with cruel efficiency.
But such exaggerated combat tactics, against players who felt almost no pain feedback, did not instill fear—instead, they brought a strange thrill.
The players charged forward like madmen, while behind them, player groups had begun casting coordinated spells.
Unlike ordinary gold-farming players, the real core of the Professional Player Guild lay in advertising endorsements; with a game boasting over a million peak concurrent players and tens of thousands of regular users, looking flashy and gaining fame meant money and traffic.
Flashy skill trails traced patterns resembling magical arrays; within this meaningless combination, a massive fireball hurtled straight toward Monster X’s face.
But the fireball held no threat to Monster X—he didn’t dodge, only opened his massive maw and swallowed it whole, like a whale drawing in water.
“Dragon, you done yet?” Guan Er stroked the ring on his fingertip, eager to act. The Dragon Warrior was about to reply when he suddenly remembered something and warned:
“You can move, but don’t use that shrimp-eating move!”
“I know, I know—there’s so much guild footage! I won’t use it!” Guan Er laughed it off, then turned to his Four Bi Guards:
“Brothers, get ready!”
“Got it!”
But watching their excited expressions, the Dragon Warrior suddenly felt a bad premonition. He immediately turned to Bao Long:
“I’m going in first—you all act on your own judgment!”
Before Guan Er could move, he ignited twin flames beneath his feet, launching himself toward the demonic dragon.
A dense sphere of energy coalesced in his palm, humming with high-speed rotation that made eardrums ache. With the glowing bracers flashing, the sphere turned orange-red. At just ten meters from Monster X, the Dragon Warrior suddenly raised both hands high:
“Gaia Energy Cannon!”
The energy sphere, originally fist-sized, instantly expanded to the size of a villa—and then accelerated again.
Monster X, who had been ready to intercept the Dragon Warrior, immediately changed tactics. He clenched his right claw to his ribs, roared—and a cyan gale sliced the orange-red energy sphere into four pieces.
The violent airflow exploded outward, leaving deep gashes in the air from the vacuum blades. Yet the Dragon Warrior didn’t dodge—he charged straight into the chaos, his body gilded in gold, while his left knuckle-duster extended three razor-sharp claws—
“Dragon-Beast Slayer!”
“Arrogant fool!”
The thrust was interrupted by Monster X’s roar. The Dragon Warrior felt his wrist tighten—the piercing attack veered off course, then his abdomen took a brutal impact, his Armament Haki instantly shattered.
As he prepared to respawn, a series of piercing explosions erupted beside his ear—and simultaneously, Guan Er’s annoying voice blared over the player channel:
“Dragon, I’m here to save you!”
Blinding light flooded the battlefield, but Guan Er’s showboating lasted no more than a second. The Dragon Warrior’s fleeting hope vanished as his own corpse, along with Guan Er—who had used Taunt + Sun Fist—was blasted away, torn in two.
“Brother, I’m sorry, big brother!”
Guan Er let out a theatrical wail. The Dragon Warrior, already returned to his respawn point, snapped:
“Shut up! I’m not dead! If you really feel bad, die and come join me!”
“Can’t do that—we still have our ultimate move!”
Guan Er’s expression instantly turned serious. Seeing Bao Long already engaged with the boss, he stepped back two paces, spread his arms wide, and roared:
“I’ll form the head!”
Hearing his call, Lei Bi, Xue Bi, Shuang Bi, and Ba Bi all advanced at once. Simultaneously, they pressed their wristbands—four streams of colored light flared as they shouted together:
“I’ll form the head!” ×4
Light flashed. As Bao Long was thrown back by the boss, from within the glow stepped a…
“Why are you all forming the head?” The bizarre machine creature, assembled from five robotic heads, rolled over. The black head shouted loudly.
The blue head immediately retorted:
“Why is it always you who gets to be the head? I want to be head too!”
“Yeah! We want to be head too!”
The Four Bi’s antics made Delais’s forehead twitch. But just as the demonic dragon, too, seemed disgusted and prepared to crush this absurdity, the five-headed machine creature suddenly launched upward without warning. Metal arms extended from the joints between the heads, and with Guan Er’s signature voice shrieking “You fell for it!”, a fist forged entirely of magical energy slammed into the demon dragon’s skull.
Negative buffs instantly coated Monster X in a rainbow of debuffs. Though no aura was released, as players, they knew exactly what to do next.
Whether trained in the Hidden Village, professional team players, or casuals just here for the spectacle, they all surged forward, unleashing their strongest damage skills in a saturation bombardment against the boss now bound by the metal giant.
Flying swords and fireballs, holy light and arrows—every kind of attack overwhelmed the screen in an instant. Yet no one stopped.
As players, they hadn’t received experience rewards or seen any loot drop—meaning the enemy was still alive. So keep firing!
“Aaaah—”
Amidst what seemed like endless firepower, a furious roar erupted. The metal five-headed monstrosity, riddled with holes from allied attacks, dissolved into light. And at the epicenter, Monster X’s body suddenly flared with gold-and-crimson lightning!
Delais’s brow tightened sharply. Only now did she realize—this demonic dragon was actually a Demon God.
When she turned to Feng Xue in alarm, she found the “native hero” smiling.
“So you’ve finally revealed your true form?”
