Chapter 26: Shock, This Movie Actually! (Third Update! Requesting Monthly Tickets)

July 18, 1987.

Across the ocean, an obscure film company named 【DT】 premiered a movie titled "Superman" at the SD Cinema in New York.

In that era of US-Soviet rivalry, financial depression, and countless people living in fear under the shadow of war, "Superman" swept across the entire United States upon release, becoming a super hero watched by all!

Subsequently, cinemas in every country frantically rushed to import it; overnight, countless film fans worldwide were shocked by "Superman's" stunning visual effects and special effects, exclaiming that a new era had arrived!

Indeed, the "Superman" film series, which later garnered astonishing box office returns globally, opened a new era for Hollywood special effects films, paving the way for countless superhero films that followed; every film released in Hollywood to this day bears the shadow of the original "Superman"...

Sixteen years have passed!

When "Superman 2" made its return...

The Chinese film circle completely boiled over!

…………………………

"Superman 2 is officially scheduled for July 18!"

"Excellent!"

"Latest data from 【Tianxing】, 【Fengyu】, 【Huaying International】, and other cinema chains shows that as of around July 21, all advance tickets are sold out; tickets on the market are impossible to get!"

"Excellent, excellent!"

"……"

July 9.

【Tianyu Group】.

Deng Hairong, head of the Overseas Department, looked at the distribution data for "Superman 2," his gaze unable to hide his excitement.

For Hollywood films to be released in China, besides passing review by the Chinese film department, they must also seek cooperation with a local Chinese film and television company to handle localized agency distribution.

This is a global super IP; 【Tianyu Group】 attached great importance to this film from top to bottom. When the film announced its production the year before last, Deng Hairong began constantly communicating with the overseas 【DT】 film company, including but not limited to personally rushing to Hollywood, staying with the crew for a full three months, seizing every opportunity to negotiate continuously, and paying a huge price with the utmost sincerity to secure this film...

This process was full of bitterness and sweetness.

But, the effort finally paid off!

During 【DT】's visit to China last year, Deng Hairong and his team finally defeated the competitor 【Warner Brothers】 in the vote to secure the distribution rights for "Superman 2"!

In 2003, as Hong Kong cinema gradually faded into history and Hollywood films rose powerfully, achieving astonishing box office returns globally, the competition among Chinese film and television companies for Hollywood films had reached a near-white-hot stage!

Whoever secures the agency rights for a Hollywood blockbuster IP means that for the next half year, they will be the elite of Chinese film and television companies, and it also means a basin of golden coins shining brightly before their eyes!

Yes!

Superhero films are not just movies; there are also animations, television series, various merchandise...

The noon sunlight filtered through the window, shining into the office.

Deng Hairong looked at the agency cooperation agreement for "Superman 2" in the drawer...

A sense of excitement arose spontaneously.

The data analyst beside him, Zhong Xiaoyi, continued flipping through the survey data in her hands, finally looking at Deng Hairong.

"President Deng, regarding this film, our professional team has made a prediction: the box office in mainland China will not be lower than 270 million RMB!"

After speaking, she handed the data to Deng Hairong.

After taking the data and glancing at it, Deng Hairong nodded with a beaming smile: "I recall last year's box office champion in Chinese films was the martial arts film 'Qin' directed by Li Zhengtao, right?"

"Yes, it was 180 million in box office!"

"Excellent! Excellent! Excellent!"

"By the way, President Deng, I also received news that 【DT】 Group has another film titled 'King of Monsters' scheduled for release in the second half of the year; I heard they haven't decided which company to cooperate with yet, and it seems they have some requirements for us..."

"Oh, what are their requirements?"

"Their requirements are simple; President Cliff's meaning is that piracy in our mainland is still too rampant; piracy not only infringes rights but also affects box office data... The reason we were able to secure the distribution rights for 'Superman 2' this time is because we have been working hard to crack down on piracy these past years; they feel we have a future..."

"……"

Upon hearing these words, Deng Hairong nodded, his gaze turning toward the window: "When 'Superman 2' premieres this time, we must communicate with the heads of all major cinema chains; absolutely no film sources can be leaked and made into DVDs, do you understand?"

"Understood!"

"Besides that, on the internet, we must also resolutely resist piracy! Once any leaked film source is discovered, notify the legal department immediately to search for evidence!"

"Understood..." Zhong Xiaoyi nodded, then immediately lowered her head to look at the data for a moment longer, finally looking at Deng Hairong: "President Deng!"

"Speak..."

"If 'Superman 2' has no piracy, we are confident our mainland box office will break 300 million, creating a brand new history!"

"Hmm!"

"Then I'll get back to work, President Deng."

"Go ahead!"

Deng Hairong nodded.

After everyone had left, he silently looked at the film schedule for the second half of the year.

Besides "Superman 2" being the key project for the second half of the year, there was also a modern martial arts film adapted from one of the Four Great Classics, "Water Margin," titled "A Better Tomorrow."

It is a Hong Kong film starring Liang Jiaqiang and Xu Shi'an, excerpting the story of Lin Chong ascending Liangshan...

The company attaches great importance to this film...

Besides that, the personal plan for the second half of the year is to secure the agency distribution rights for the Hollywood blockbuster "King of Monsters" and continue to reach a strategic cooperation agreement with 【DT】 Company.

After reading through the plan once, Deng Hairong nodded in satisfaction.

Just as he was about to take a good rest...

Suddenly, he heard a series of urgent knocks on the door.

"Come in!"

"It's bad! The film source for 'Superman 2' seems to have leaked!"

"???"

Hearing these words, Deng Hairong's eyes widened, and he was utterly stunned!

The source for "Superman 2" has been leaked?

What's going on?

This film hasn't been released not only on the mainland, but even in Hollywood itself; how could it be leaked?

Immediately after.

He saw his assistant, panting heavily, bring over a sheet of paper displaying the box office for the movie "Superman 2"!

"Right here in our Yanjing, people are specifically handing out flyers for movie tickets at the entrances of major universities, costing five yuan per ticket..."

"The movie tickets are written with the words 'Superman 2'..."

"..."

Deng Hairong took the movie ticket and glanced at it!

Instantly, he was so shocked that he jumped up from his chair, staring at the release date of July 11 as if he had seen a ghost.

How is this possible!

"Superman 2" — damn it, Hollywood hasn't even had its premiere yet, and we haven't even obtained the source material here!

How could it have been leaked!

He stared fixedly at that Feihe Cinema...

Damn it, he had never even heard of this cinema!

………………………………

"Yes, yes!"

"We have obtained a source!"

"Yes, a sci-fi blockbuster, arriving with a shocking impact!"

"Yes, the source for a Hollywood blockbuster has been leaked! We will be able to see the highly anticipated blockbuster early!"

"Are you sure it's 'Superman 2'?"

"Yes, absolutely sure!"

"Holy crap! What cinema chain is this awesome?"

"Shh, because we obtained it using special means, so, you guys keep quiet; on July 11, come over with this handwritten ticket, and we'll give you a discount!"

"They can even give a discount?"

"Yes! A discounted ticket for five yuan!"

"Holy crap!"

"..."

Evening.

【Yanjing No. 18 Middle School】.

Shen Hu, the furtive wandering singer, watched several students walking by, stealthily followed them, then carefully took out a handwritten movie ticket and pointed towards the distance...

Several students instinctively looked in the direction of the 【Feihe Cinema】 in the distance...

Instantly, they stared at the handwritten ticket bearing the words "Superman 2" with disbelief!

"Is it really 'Superman 2'?"

"It really is!"
