Chapter 2110: Ungrateful Son, I've Given You Face

~6 min read 1,193 words

Gazing at Zuo Jue across the Formation Light Curtain, Zuo Fu's brows knotted tight, his heart brimming with worry and helplessness.

Originally, he thought his son's stubborn entry into the Dao One Immortal Sect was merely a fleeting impulse, a pathological manifestation, and the so-called 'confronting one's inner demon' was sheer nonsense.

However, upon seeing his son actually working as a Menial Disciple in the Canteen, Zuo Fu realized the problem was far more serious than he had imagined.

With Zuo Fu's strength, obtaining a few Immortal Beasts or demonic beasts would not be difficult, but he simply could not understand why his son would choose such a path.

This not only ran contrary to his expectations, but also made Zuo Fu feel his son's condition was worsening.

"Dad, how is it?"

Seeing his father delay in responding, Zuo Jue could no longer suppress his inner anxiety and urged him.

His voice echoed in the quiet space, also bringing Zuo Fu back to his senses.

However, Zuo Fu's face instantly darkened to an extreme, he clenched his teeth fiercely and shouted angrily.

"Not good, you ungrateful son."

Zuo Jue obviously did not expect his father to react this way; his brows furrowed slightly, but he quickly regained his composure.

After all, he had been pampered by his father since childhood, so he had long grown accustomed to his father's rebukes.

In front of outsiders, Zuo Fu might be a formidable and ruthless figure, but before Zuo Jue, his authority vanished completely.

After being refused by his father, Zuo Jue's first reaction was not submission or retreat, but anger.

He felt he had not asked for anything excessive, merely a few Immortal Beasts; why was his father so stingy?

However, Zuo Jue's clever plan this time obviously misfired.

When he presented his request to his father, Zuo Fu did not, as before, readily agree without principle, but instead gave a stern shout with a grim face.

"Ungrateful son, I'll give you one last chance: leave the Dao One Immortal Sect voluntarily, or else I'll personally come fetch you tomorrow."

Before his words even finished, Zuo Fu gave Zuo Jue no time to respond and promptly cut off the Formation communication.

At this moment, Zuo Fu, who was in Wuji Xiancheng, was so enraged by Zuo Jue that even his breath became unsteady.

He couldn't help but reflect, wondering if he had indulged this ungrateful son too much, causing him to become so willful and reckless.

Meanwhile, Zuo Jue was likewise infuriated by his father's decisiveness, his face turning ashen.

He still wanted to keep in touch with his father, trying to explain the situation clearly, but no matter how he tried, he could no longer reach his father.

Just thinking that without enough ingredients he couldn't enter the Canteen as a Menial Disciple, couldn't confront his inner demon, let alone fill his stomach, Zuo Jue's heart surged with an indescribable irritation.

"Father, you've ruined me."

Zuo Jue sighed inwardly, a sense of desolation welling up.

Time flew, and in the blink of an eye it was the next day.

Although Zuo Jue had failed to obtain an Immortal Beast as he wished, when mealtime came he could no longer suppress his craving for food and, as if possessed, went to the Canteen.

Although he ultimately managed to eat a meal, the discomfort in his heart grew stronger.

Zuo Jue had originally been pondering how to persuade his father, but he had clearly gravely underestimated Zuo Fu's resolve.

That very evening, Zuo Fu actually arrived at the Dao One Immortal Sect as swiftly as a whirlwind.

With the sudden descent of Zuo Fu's powerful aura, the entire Dao One Immortal Sect seemed like a disturbed beehive, instantly erupting in commotion.

Qi Xiong, Hong Zun, and the many Elders appeared in the sky as if facing a formidable foe, their expressions grave, ready for battle.

The two sides stood off against each other, the tension reaching its peak.

Qi Xiong's face showed apprehension as he stared fixedly at Zuo Fu and spoke in a low voice.

"What brings you here?"

Zuo Fu, however, appeared quite composed, speaking calmly.

"I have come only to find my son, Zuo Jue."

His voice was not loud, yet it echoed in the quiet night sky, clearly reaching everyone's ears.

Hearing Zuo Fu's words, Qi Xiong and the others still felt apprehensive, but also realized that Zuo Fu's visit seemed not intended for combat.

Thus, after a brief silence, Qi Xiong spoke.

"If that's the case, as long as you guarantee you will simply take Zuo Jue away without causing any other trouble, you may enter the Sect."

Zuo Fu nodded in agreement, indicating he would certainly not cause trouble.

After receiving Zuo Fu's promise, Qi Xiong finally relaxed a little, but still left over a hundred Elders to closely monitor the surroundings, just in case.

Having entered the Sect, Zuo Fu, under Qi Xiong's guidance, headed straight for Zuo Jue's dwelling.

Along the way, Zuo Fu remained silent, merely hurrying along, clearly anxious beyond measure.

When Zuo Fu finally stepped into Zuo Jue's dwelling, Zuo Jue, who was inside, suddenly saw his father's figure and, unable to contain his surprise and joy, rose quickly, went forward, and asked excitedly.

"Dad, why did you only come now? Where are the Immortal Beasts? The ingredients?"

Already holding back a suffocating feeling, like a volcano about to erupt, upon seeing Zuo Jue bluntly demand ingredients the moment he spoke, Zuo Fu's fury ignited instantly, blazing like an exploded volcano.

"Ungrateful son! Zuo Fu's hair stood on end, his eyes widened, and he roared with a furious face, 'Are you trying to anger me to death?' His voice was deafening, as if the entire dwelling trembled."

Zuo Jue, however, looked bewildered, utterly confused by his father's anger, blinking his eyes innocently and asking, "What's wrong with me?"

However, Zuo Fu's mind had been clouded by rage, leaving no room for explanation; he felt this ungrateful son was deliberately provoking him, causing his blood pressure to spike.

Suppressing his inner fury, Zuo Fu gritted his teeth and squeezed out a sentence from between them: "Come with me!"

"I won't go!" Zuo Jue replied without hesitation, his thoughts wholly occupied by Immortal Beast ingredients, paying no heed to his father's demand.

"You..." Zuo Fu was so angry he could not speak, his chest heaving violently as if about to explode.

"Dad, it's still early; hurry up and get some Immortal Beast ingredients!" Zuo Jue, seemingly oblivious to his father's fury, continued to chatter on.

"I'll kill you!" Zuo Fu finally could bear no more; his reason shattered completely, and his roar echoed within the dwelling.

Immediately after, a crackling sound rang out from within the dwelling, accompanied by Zuo Jue's agonized scream, as if the entire space were engulfed by that fury.

Outside the dwelling, the over a hundred Elders tasked with monitoring heard that harrowing cry and exchanged bewildered glances, wondering if this was a father‑son battle.

However, they had no intention of getting involved in this father‑son affair, lest they be dragged into it.
