Chapter 30: Method

Bai Yuan raised his hand, and a plate materialized out of nowhere; the plate was square overall, its surface covered with mysterious markings.

Holding this array plate, Bai Yuan also obtained some information about it from the system.

【Five Elements Array, can be activated by injecting spiritual energy to open the Five Elements Mixed Primordial Array; the power the great array can unleash is determined by the amount of spiritual energy the user injects, and at maximum it can contend with a True Immortal.】

The Five Elements Array is of extremely high quality; even if only one ten‑thousandth of its power is activated, one can roam the Douluo Continent unchecked, yet after reading the information, Bai Yuan's complexion turned slightly dark.

The power the great array unleashes is determined by the amount of spiritual energy the user injects?

With the spiritual energy of the two Foundation Establishment‑stage cultivators here, how much of the Five Elements Array's power can be activated?

Bai Yuan estimated that even at best they'd only reach the early Golden Core stage, perhaps only a fully completed Foundation Establishment, far from being able to protect themselves, let alone establish a refuge for his disciples.

Bai Yuan calmed himself, and the three items that had just been drawn from the most needed treasure chest also materialized out of thin air.

They were three crystal stones; each stone was a very regular rhombus, somewhat elongated, crystal‑clear and translucent, as if molded from a single mold.

The only difference lay in their colors: the three stones respectively displayed black representing water, white representing metal, and red representing fire.

"The array foundations of the Five Elements Great Array," Bai Yuan muttered to himself, and some inexplicable information resurfaced in his mind.

With the Five Elements Array as the core, leaving Five Elements array foundations in the five directions of heaven and earth, one can arrange a super‑simple preliminary stage of the Five Elements Mixed Primordial Array, the Five Elements Array.

Once the formation is successfully set, all soul power within its covered area will be transformed into pure spiritual energy, controlled by the holder of the Five Elements Array.

The area covered by the formation consists of the four array foundations of metal, wood, water, and fire, encompassing this quadrilateral region.

As for the earth foundation, it lies at the center.

East – Wood, West – Metal, North – Water, South – Fire, Center – Earth.

But Bai Yuan could not feel any joy at this moment.

Because he currently has only three of the five array foundations, this is the limit of the most needed treasure chest; at most he can obtain four types of items.

"Do I still have to keep completing tasks?" Bai Yuan muttered in his heart, while opening the attribute panel.

Looking at the bottom, where the number of disciples had tripled, Bai Yuan was at a loss for words.

"Master, what's wrong with you?" Bai Yu suddenly asked.

Among the crowd, aside from the newly arrived family, everyone also showed a worried expression.

Bai Yuan's expression instantly returned to calm as he said, "I'll study this array plate first."

Bai Yuan cradled the Five Elements Array, sat cross‑legged on the ground, and using his knowledge as an intermediate Array Master, began to examine this extremely rustic array plate made of an unknown wood.

On the plate, the array markings seemed endless; just by looking closely, Bai Yuan felt a despair akin to a mortal gazing at the vast starry sky.

"No, I don't need to fully comprehend this formation, I just need to know how to use it, just need to find a method," Bai Yuan whispered to himself.

He seemed to sink into it, as if he saw the evolution of the world and the true essence of the Five Elements.

Unavoidably, Bai Yuan, being both a cultivator and an Array Master, became completely engrossed.

He forgot the world, forgot the passage of time.

So immersed in it, savoring the mysteries of the formation, whether only an instant or billions of years later, a smile suddenly appeared on Bai Yuan's face.

"Found it, I've found a way," Bai Yuan opened his eyes and saw that the sky had dramatically changed, the world shrouded in a thin mist.

Obviously, if these phenomena weren't man‑made, it must be morning now, though it's unclear which day's morning it is.

"Master, you're awake?" Bai Yu, who had been consolidating her cultivation on the ground, opened her wine‑red eyes, looking at Bai Yuan with joy.

Wang Qiuer, who practiced alongside Bai Yu, sprang up and ran over, saying, "Master Father, you're awake?"

Bai Yuan gave a slight nod, patted Wang Qiuer's head, and asked, "How long have I been using it? Are those Title Douluo and ferocious beasts outside still fighting?"

Bai Yu pondered for a moment and said, "It's the second day; I'm not sure whether that group of Title Douluo and ferocious beasts fought, but I didn't hear any sounds all day yesterday."

Bai Yuan listened, feeling uneasy; since Bai Yu hadn't heard any sounds for a whole day, they were likely finished fighting.

If the humans won, they would continue to hunt Bai Yuan; if the ferocious beasts won, they would conduct a massive sweep within the Star Dou Great Forest.

All to find Wang Qiuer.

After pondering for a moment, Bai Yuan had to act quickly; he looked up and said, "Mu Junwu, I need you to help me."

"Master, please speak; I would not refuse even unto death," Mu Junwu replied resolutely.

Bai Yuan said, "Later I will set up a great array and need you to become the wood foundation. Once you become a foundation, you will be unable to move until I find a substitute. Are you willing?"

Mu Junwu did not hesitate, saying, "I am a tree by nature; thanks to your kindness, Master, I have awakened spiritual intellect. Now I only need to stand here for a while, so I naturally agree."

Bai Yuan smiled, "Junwu, being a great‑array foundation has its benefits; you will enjoy more pure spiritual aura. From now on, stay here to cultivate, and once I obtain a substitute, I will take you to see the world's mountains and rivers."

"I thank you, Master," Mu Junwu said respectfully, perhaps imitating the other disciples.

Bai Yuan raised the array plate with one hand, and Mu Junwu immediately felt a peculiar force envelop her; to her, that force was both confinement and protection.

But Mu Junwu didn't mind; she was a tree, having lived on the outskirts of the Star Dou Great Forest for centuries without moving, and now nothing changed.

"It's time to set up the other foundations," Bai Yuan said to himself, gazing at the three crystal stones that floated automatically.

At the same time, the ferocious beasts and Title Douluo who had ceased fighting and were seeking their own objectives all took notice of the anomaly here.

Gazes were cast upon them from all sides.
