Chapter 43: Shocking the Silver Dragon King
A man and a woman, two figures walking through the void.
The man was extraordinarily handsome, the woman peerlessly beautiful; walking together they seemed a match made by heaven.
When they reached the big tree, the tree door opened automatically.
This time it was the Silver Dragon King who was surprised.
"This tree seems to have awakened its spiritual intelligence."
The Silver Dragon King's tone carried a hint of uncertainty.
After all, in her perception this big tree had at most a century or two of cultivation, far from the condition needed to awaken spiritual intelligence.
To put it bluntly, a mere century-old plant-type Soul Beast could be easily killed by any ordinary adult wielding a tool.
"Wu, greet the Silver Dragon King." Bai Yuan suddenly laughed.
The Silver Dragon King looked up at the tree and immediately heard a somewhat timid female voice say: "Tree Demon Wu, I greet my lord."
Wu calls her lord because she herself was once a Soul Beast; this is etched deep in the bloodline of all Soul Beasts.
The Silver Dragon King stared blankly for a moment; she could clearly feel that the voice came from the tree itself, not from Bai Yuan trying to mystify her.
"She… she really awakened spiritual intelligence? How did she awaken it?" The Silver Dragon King's originally calm purple eyes burned slightly as she stared at Bai Yuan, her words stumbling.
Most Soul Beasts, even after ten thousand years, have wisdom comparable only to ordinary human children; only a rare few can possess wisdom not inferior to that of ordinary humans at the ten-thousand-year mark.
Now a tree that awakens spiritual intelligence in just a century has appeared here, and it seems there is a method; if this method could be popularized, basically all Soul Beasts could awaken spiritual intelligence.
The Soul Beast race would become a species with wisdom not inferior to humanity; such a thing capable of changing a race's fate—how could the Soul Beast Sovereign not be moved?
Bai Yuan felt a chill under the Silver Dragon King's gaze and answered truthfully: "It's just that my eldest disciple cultivated inside for a few years, and Wu awakened her spiritual intelligence."
"Your eldest disciple cultivated inside for a few years?" The Silver Dragon King looked somewhat disappointed, thinking this must be an isolated case.
Moreover, even if it weren't an isolated case, how many humans have several years? How many Soul Beasts could my eldest disciple's lifetime awaken?
The Silver Dragon King entered.
Immediately she noticed something off.
"Bai Yuan, did you bury a hundred-thousand-year Soul Beast below?" the Silver Dragon King's voice sounded low.
Bai Yuan's heart jumped as he stepped in, but he quickly replied calmly: "It's a reborn hundred-thousand-year Soul Beast."
The Silver Dragon King stared at Bai Yuan.
Bai Yuan smiled and met her gaze, showing no intention to yield, nor saying anything about returning Xiao Wu now.
After a long while, the Silver Dragon King said: "Give her to me."
Bai Yuan shook his head: "A reborn Soul Beast can already be said to no longer be a Soul Beast; they will ultimately become human, seeking that slim chance to ascend to godhood."
"Besides, I believe that after so many years, some reborn Soul Beasts must have succeeded in ascending to godhood, though they probably now mingle with the human deities in the divine realm and no longer care about the life or death of their fellow kin."
The Silver Dragon King fell silent listening.
Indeed, over the years she has witnessed many hundred-thousand-year Soul Beasts undergoing rebirth, and some of them have truly ascended.
Bai Yuan said no more; his earlier remark came from seeing Xiao Wu's ascension to godhood, where she showed utter indifference to the life or death of Soul Beasts.
"Take me to see your eldest disciple and the auspicious beast." The Silver Dragon King no longer paid attention to her own Xiao Wu.
Bai Yuan smiled: "Bai Yu, Qiu'er, come down; the Silver Dragon King wishes to see you."
Soon two lovely girls descended.
Instantly the Silver Dragon King confirmed who was the auspicious beast.
Though the auspicious beast had already taken human form, she was not surprised; she simply turned her gaze to the little girl holding Qiu'er's hand.
"Lotus Demon Bai Yu, I greet my lord."
Bai Yu bowed slightly in salute.
"Auspicious Beast Wang Qiu'er, I greet my lord."
Wang Qiu'er followed suit, imitating the gesture.
"Lotus Demon?" The Silver Dragon King finally noticed the similarity in how Bai Yu and Wu addressed themselves.
The Silver Dragon King said: "Since you call me lord, are you a reborn hundred-thousand-year Soul Beast, or have you survived two heavenly tribulations and transformed into a ferocious beast?"
The Silver Dragon King found she could not see through Bai Yu's true nature; but judging by her stated age, if she were a reborn Soul Beast she would have just taken human form.
Yet Bai Yu's strength did not match that of a newly transformed Soul Beast; if she were a ferocious beast that had survived two tribulations, her aura would still fall far short.
This left the Silver Dragon King bewildered.
Bai Yu glanced at Bai Yuan, seeing he had no intention to stop her, she shook her head and answered truthfully: "My lord, Bai Yu is neither a reborn hundred-thousand-year Soul Beast nor a ferocious beast that survived two heavenly tribulations. As a Soul Beast, Bai Yu had only a few hundred years of cultivation."
The Silver Dragon King stood stunned, not knowing what to say for a moment, her whole person like a flawless statue standing still.
After a long while, the Silver Dragon King regained her composure, her gorgeous purple eyes fixed on Bai Yu's wine-red eyes and asked: "You're not deceiving me?"
Bai Yu shook her head, and she transformed into a blossom like a jade-green crystal-carved blue lotus, then immediately returned to her original form.
The Silver Dragon King believed her; her vast spiritual power could clearly sense that Bai Yu's words were every sentence true.
Yet she was nearly dumbfounded.
A few-hundred-year Soul Beast awakening spiritual intelligence is already astonishing, yet it can also take human form and possess cultivation comparable to a twenty-thousand-year Soul Beast.
Suddenly the Silver Dragon King seemed to realize something.
A plant-type Soul Beast with only a few hundred years of cultivation can not only awaken spiritual intelligence and take human form, but in a short time can also attain cultivation comparable to a twenty-thousand-year Soul Beast.
Most importantly, unlike reborn Soul Beasts, it does not demand harsh conditions nor turn completely human.
The Silver Dragon King suddenly turned to Bai Yuan and said: "Give me the method of cultivating her; set whatever conditions you like."
Bai Yuan gave an embarrassed laugh.
To be honest, he had never thought of fishing for the Silver Dragon King; yet she came running to him, letting him fish, and she didn't hesitate to bite the hook.
But now Bai Yuan is a little worried, fearing the fish is too big and will drag him straight into the water.
In other words, Bai Yuan worries that the Silver Dragon King will use force.
However, seeing the Silver Dragon King not currently using force, Bai Yuan spoke frankly: "Helping Bai Yu and the others awaken their spiritual intellect and achieve transformation—there's no other way; it relies on a pill called the Transformation Pill."
"Transformation Pill? How much for it? I'll take them all."
The Silver Dragon King showed no hesitation.
Bai Yuan gave a wry smile and shook his head: "I don't even have a single Transformation Pill on hand right now."
The Silver Dragon King stared at Bai Yuan.
Bai Yuan could only force a wry smile.
After a few seconds, the Silver Dragon King said: "How can we make Transformation Pills? What materials do you need? I'll have the feral beasts help you find them."
Bai Yuan's face showed another helpless smile.
"I don't know how to refine Transformation Pills."
In the Silver Dragon King's eyes, a hint of anger finally appeared as he said: "Bai Yuan, I came with sincerity—are you trying to toy with me?"
