Chapter 161: Two Kings of the Gods
In silence, the twelve Titan gods stepped into the depths of the cosmos, heading toward an unknown distant place, and then the years ushered in a new era.
This era had no twelve Titans, but twelve new deities instead.
Their strength was equally formidable, no less than the twelve Titans, and they took charge of these years, ruling over this heaven and earth.
As new years and a new era arrived, that divine mountain—condensed from the radiance of countless ancient ruins—also took shape at this moment.
"Zeus?!"
Someone shouted, their gaze landing on the deity standing at the very center of the twelve, atop that magnificent divine mountain that seemed as though it would crush heaven and earth.
That deity, majestic and towering, held a bolt of Lei Ting lightning in his hand, with thunder and lightning swirling all around him, standing at the very front, commanding the remaining eleven deities.
His identity was plain to see.
It was him!
Greek mythology, the chief of the twelve Olympian gods, the lord of the gods, the god of sky, thunder, and dark clouds—Zeus!
Recognizing Zeus, everyone finally understood and came to their senses, turning to look at the deities beside him.
Looking at the goddess wreathed in colorful, radiant divine light.
Looking at the deity standing beside Zeus, holding a golden trident, with divine patterns spreading around him like waves, stirring up the grand sound of ocean surges and roaring waters.
Looking at the deity with a divine war sword at his waist, clad in a war armor of the gods, holding a divine spear in one hand and a divine shield in the other, who could alone look down upon ten thousand foes, valiant and imposing, his battle intent piercing the heavens.
Looking at…
"Queen Hera, Sea God Poseidon, War God Ares, Lord of the Underworld Hades…" Many people's eyes revealed reverence and excitement.
How could they not be excited?
These were the gods who ultimately ruled this heaven and earth through the changing Greek years—the twelve Olympian gods.
Suddenly, a Greek who spent every day online seemed to think of something and cried out in shock.
"The rumors weren't false?! The return of the gods is real!"
He spoke of the rumor of "the return of the gods" that had been circulating on the Japanese internet.
Instantly, many people's expressions changed, and they hurriedly took out their phones to check online.
"My god!!"
"You guys, hurry up and check online!"
Many were astonished; occupied with the earth-shaking changes in Greece, they hadn't checked the internet, and only now discovered that it was already in an uproar, with overwhelming news pouring in one after another, flooding the web.
Japan, Beimeizhou, Egypt, and other countries with cultures of the gods—all had experienced earth-shaking changes.
Bewilderment, shock, horror, and other emotions surged forth together; people's hearts churned violently, their faces terrified to the extreme, scalps tingling.
The gods were all real?!
And not only the Greek gods—the gods of every country truly existed, and all were about to return. How terrifying; one could not imagine the scene of all the gods gathering in this world.
"The reckoning." Someone noticed the key point. The return of the gods was indeed terrifying, but what was truly terrifying was the reckoning of the gods' return.
Surely they wouldn't start a world war on the level of the gods…
"Wait, the Greek gods are returning, then… have the gods of Norse mythology also returned…"
No one knew who it was, but suddenly someone cried out.
Everyone froze, their bodies jolting violently.
Since ancient times, Europe had many myths and legends, but whenever European myths were mentioned, the first association was always Greek mythology, which was clearly the most famous among Europe's many myths.
However, Greek mythology was not the sole standout among European myths.
There was another mythology that stood shoulder to shoulder with it, splitting the world between them.
Because when European myths were mentioned, not only would people think of Greek mythology, they would also think of another European mythology.
Norse mythology, also called Norwegian mythology, together with Greek mythology was one of the most widespread mythologies of the gods in Europe.
Whenever European mythology was mentioned, people would either think of Greek mythology, or Norse mythology, or both together—they were the two most famous mythologies of Europe.
Both were steeped in a strong color of the divine, extremely impactful, each with its own characteristics, each with its own grand and magnificent divine system, composing its own epic, magnificent, and turbulent mythological stories.
And so, whenever Greek mythology and Norse mythology were mentioned, people would always argue endlessly.
Whether the gods of Greek mythology were stronger, or the gods of Norse mythology were stronger.
Such disputes were just like whether sweet rice dumplings or savory rice dumplings tasted better—each had its own way of putting it, each had its own set of arguments, no one conceded to the other, and after arguing since ancient times there was still no definitive conclusion.
Greek mythology and Norse mythology were exactly like this.
And Zeus of Greek mythology, and Odin of Norse mythology…
The two, as the rulers of their respective mythologies, both bore the title of King of the Gods, one wielding 'Lei Ting', the other wielding the 'Spear of Eternity', both able to control thunder and command heavenly lightning.
Zeus and Odin—the two were so alike.
This became the fiercest question in people's debate over whether Greek mythology was stronger or Norse mythology was stronger.
The next moment.
Europe, Greece.
Many people were looking toward the direction of Norway, their eyes flickering, gazes burning.
Although, like sweet and savory rice dumplings, Greek mythology and Norse mythology could not be ranked higher or lower, now it was different.
In the past, they could not be ranked because people each held their own views, no one could convince anyone else, because myths were ethereal and unreal, things of imagination. But now it was different—myths were real, the gods truly existed.
So the debate was no longer armchair theorizing; they could see the truth with their own hands.
The current situation was just like keyboard warriors online—endless bickering online would never settle anything, so they would PK offline.
The Greek gods and the Norse gods, Zeus and Odin—if they fought and determined a victor, wouldn't that end this endlessly debated question?
As for whether they would actually fight?
The gods could not be profaned, let alone the rulers among the gods.
Both Zeus and Odin bore the title of King of the Gods—would they be willing to share that title with another god, especially the supreme title of King of the Gods?
No matter how he thought about it, the answer seemed unlikely.
For no reason, countless people grew excited.
If they could witness a clash between the gods of Greek mythology and the gods of Norse mythology, and even witness a showdown between Zeus and Odin, it would be worth dying for.
On the other side.
Europe, Norway.
A heaven-shaking, earth-shattering roar, and Norway's mountains, rivers, land, lakes, and seas were all trembling.
Yet despite the violent earthquake, no one ran; they all raised their heads and looked up at the sky. People could feel that Norway's upheaval was not an earthquake — its cause came from the heavens.
A terrifying, unmatched aura carrying life, nature, death, wind, water, fire, and earth descended from the sky.
Rumble rumble rumble!
The great roar was like the creation of the world, as if primordial chaos were reopening heaven and earth.
"Ah!" Thousands upon thousands of screams.
"Oh heavens, what is that in the sky?" An old man was frightened into a heart attack, clutching his chest: "What is that thing? A spider web?"
The sky was covered in what looked like a spider web, with countless thick brown strands twisting and intertwining together.
Looking at it, it was clearly ferocious, yet it gave people a sense of peace, as if embracing nature itself.
Following the spider-web-like thing that filled the sky and continuing to look upward, people faintly discovered that at the upper end of the sky, beyond the spider-web thing that filled the heavens, there was something. The spider-web thing had grown from this object, spreading and twisting to fill the entire sky.
"Those are tree roots!?"
