Chapter 205: A Horde of Terrifying Beings
Deep within Higashio Dashan.
This was a stretch of woodland, jagged rocks jutting up all around, old trees with gnarled roots, no person or beast anywhere nearby, yet a mysteriously profound hum drifted through it, the sound seeming at times to come from some vast, open expanse, and at other times to rumble up from the heavy depths of the earth.
The disturbance was small, occurring only within a radius of five metres around this little patch of trees.
The scene was bizarre — anyone who didn't know better would have thought it haunted.
If Lin Li or the deceased Six-Eyed Demon had been here, they would surely have recognised this place — wasn't it precisely where the passage they had used to arrive in Master's world lay?
Crack!
Space shattered like a mirror, rattling and clattering.
One month later, the former vortex mud pool — or more precisely, the passage connecting this world to the Void Demon Realm — opened once again.
Only this time the ripple was far, far smaller, cautious, tiptoeing, lacking the domineering force of the first opening, replaced instead by wariness and care.
At the same time.
The Void Demon Realm, inside a massive crater.
This place had once been a continuous, towering mountain range, peaks soaring high, range upon range of ridges, massive boulders scattered about — but now it had become a colossal pit, the mountains gone. That day, Master Konghai had struck out with a single palm and obliterated the whole area, leaving behind a great cratered valley.
"It's finally opened."
At the centre of the pit, the Demon Lord, the Blood Lord, and a female Void Demon gazed at the mud-pool vortex before them, eyes shining, visibly stirred.
"I never expected it would be this hard to open. It seems that one not only sealed the passage but reinforced it." The Demon Lord sighed ruefully. He had thought he could open it alone, but in the end had to summon the Blood Lord, and only by combining their strength did they barely manage it.
The reason he said "barely" was that the passage was very small — powerful titans could not enter, for their own overwhelming strength would crush the passage shut.
It could only admit Void Demons of the ninth tier of Living Beings.
"Ling'er, remember — once you go to that world, you must be extremely careful at every turn. You absolutely, positively must not cause trouble, do you understand? If you cause trouble in the Void Demon Realm, I can protect you, but in that world I cannot protect you."
The Demon Lord earnestly and patiently admonished the female Void Demon, giving her a thorough set of instructions.
"I understand, Father. I'll be careful."
The female Void Demon, whose aura of life was clearly far younger than that of the Demon Lord and the Blood Lord, nodded, then stepped into the mud-pool vortex.
……
Tokyo, Japan. Higashio Dashan.
Mo Lingling stepped out of the mud-pool vortex, stood atop the mountain and gazed into the distance. The dazzling modern city struck her eyes at once, filling her with wonder.
But before she could marvel, her pupils shrank sharply — she nearly scared herself to death.
It was too terrifying.
Out of curiosity, she had reached out with her senses and abruptly discovered an utterly terrifying aura in the sky. Looking up, far off among the clouds of the firmament, where mists piled white and drifted across the nine heavens, she could faintly make out within the cloud layers magnificent, incomparably grand divine palaces and celestial towers, scattered in splendid disorder, radiating an everlasting, divine radiance of supreme brilliance.
The terrifying aura was overflowing from those divine palaces and celestial towers in the clouds — not from one, but from many, each one a different person, and every wisp of that aura was many times stronger than her father, the Demon Lord.
My God of Demons!! What in the world is this terrifying place!!!
Mo Lingling's legs went weak, sweat poured down, her face filled with horror.
Ten? No — twenty. No, no, no, more than twenty…
She was nearly scared out of her wits. At the very least twenty beings who surpassed her father — a preliminary estimate put it at no fewer than thirty or forty — and moreover… those beings were not just one tier above her father, but at least two or three tiers above him.
Among them were some beings whose mere emanation of a single wisp of aura was enough to make her choke, on the verge of collapse.
This was no longer a matter of surpassing her father — it was dominion, it was looking down from above, it was utterly unattainable. Even if her father cultivated for tens of millions of years, he probably could never reach that tier.
Too powerful. That tier was the heavens themselves — the heavens that gaze down upon all living beings.
"The Creator's world…" Mo Lingling's heart pounded with dread. She suppressed her aura to the utmost extreme, wishing she could even hide her very self, her gaze fixed in terror on the divine palaces and celestial towers in the distant firmament.
She had been mentally prepared — this world did harbour beings who surpassed her father, and she had guessed their number was considerable — but it wasn't like this!!!
Damn it, they were showing up in clusters! Are powerhouses free around here? Or are beings of that level utterly insignificant in this world, found on every street corner?
The more she thought about it, the more horrifying it became. Mo Lingling's scalp went numb.
If beings stronger than her father were a dime a dozen, then what was her father's level of strength? The ultimate ant…
"Hm?"
Suddenly, as if sensing something, Mo Lingling glanced toward the distance — and nearly wet herself in fright.
As a Void Demon of the eighth tier of Living Beings, she could perceive, in the far, far distance of this world, a terrifying radiance flashing.
There were too many terrifying auras. Within merely a ten-thousand-li radius, a whole clump of terror.
That's right — a clump!
In the Void Demon Realm, across a hundred-thousand-li stretch of land, there was only one Void Demon titan — but here… there was far more than one.
It was like a plate — this plate was this ten-thousand-li stretch of land — and on the plate sat this clump of mud, the grains of sand within the mud all stirred together, impossible to tell how many grains there were, because they were all squeezed together, mixed in.
That was Mo Lingling's current perception. The grains of sand were the terrifying beings — too many in number, packed into this ten-thousand-li stretch of land, their auras clashing and intertwining, impossible to count.
She swallowed hard. Beyond her trembling, Mo Lingling felt a stirring of excitement.
With so many terrifying beings, if she could just invite one of them over, it would probably be enough to resolve the current crisis in the Void Demon Realm.
In fact, Mo Lingling was already scheming a little darkly to herself.
If this time she couldn't bring back any helpers, and the Void Demon Realm were invaded, she would choose to perish together with the enemy — she would find a way to lure that band of invaders into this world, and let them know that the backers of our world are right here in this world.
She could vividly imagine the expressions on the invaders' faces when they arrived in this world — they would absolutely not be any less panicked than she was right now.
"I must tell Father about the situation here. Then, even if we don't find Lin Li or the Creator, we can still use this world to frighten off that band of invading beings."
Mo Lingling let out a breath, her eyes flickering, as she secretly made her decision.
Then, having steadied and composed her mind, Mo Lingling descended from Higashio Dashan and headed for Arakawa Ward.
Before leaving, she carved Void Demon script into a large stone before the mud-pool vortex.
The words were left for Lin Li.
In case Lin Li ever returned here, he would see what she had written, and the two of them could meet up and join forces as quickly as possible.
……
Tokyo, Japan — Arakawa High School.
"Hm?" Kamikawa Mitsu walked into the school, casting a casual sweep over the students around him.
The moment they saw him arrive, every gaze locked onto Kamikawa Mitsu, and they whispered among themselves. Clearly, the classmates already knew about Kamikawa Mitsu being a descendant of Ashiya Doman.
Paying them no mind, Kamikawa Mitsu made his way straight to the classroom.
Swish—the door swung open.
In an instant—
Every student in the classroom snapped their eyes toward Kamikawa Mitsu.
"Kamikawa!" The classmates crowded around him, all talking at once, every single one asking whether Kamikawa Mitsu really was a descendant of Ashiya Doman.
Faced with such a barrage of questions, Kamikawa Mitsu felt a headache coming on—it was like being back during the NH137 incident, swarmed by reporters after saving the plane.
In the end, had Tsuchimikado Xia Mei not stepped in to smooth things over, Kamikawa Mitsu would have been questioned nonstop.
"Stop asking, all of you. Kamikawa really is a descendant of Ashiya Doman. It's not him trying to get famous, and it's not someone deliberately hyping him up—I can vouch for that, because I've known about Kamikawa's background for a long time now."
