Chapter 324: The Supreme Act, Rewriting the Future

~7 min read 1,385 words

Then again, who else but the First Sacred Spirit could possess such peerless grace?

The other Supreme Beings remained unmoved, aware of how this female Supreme Being had attained her status, and let out a low roar.

"Stop wasting time—we are here for Him. All who stand in our way must die!"

Their auras surged in unison, so immense that countless heavens trembled; merely their presence stirred the River of Time into chaos, everything quaking, waves crashing through the river, encompassing innumerable dimensional heavens.

Boom!

Seven Supreme Beings let out sharp cries.

They shattered matter and energy, all dissolving into nothingness, all returning to void—even time fractured, great waves crashing against the sky within the River of Time.

Then…

The pure Sacred Spirit calmly glanced at the River of Time, and in the wide-eyed stares of countless beings, the River of Time paused for a moment, then settled as if nothing had happened.

Hallucination?

The great lords nearly burst their eyeballs.

Could the River of Time have cowered? Did that one glance from the Sacred Spirit frighten it into submission?

In that instant, people turned strangely toward the seven Supreme Beings hovering above the River of Time, as if sensing they had all been momentarily at a loss.

How humiliating—just moments ago they roared and stirred the River of Time into chaos, and now they were instantly humiliated.

A single glance silenced the River of Time.

"This is the causal force we unleashed by reversing the River of Time—no one can quell it. How did you manage it?"

As if recalling something, the Supreme Being descending from the dark lotus throne changed expression.

"You are Him!"

He was shaken, his gaze blazing with chaotic light, trying to pierce through the First Sacred Spirit.

The other Supreme Beings were likewise astonished—they had not expected the First Sacred Spirit to quell the River of Time's causal chaos, as if this calmness touched upon something far deeper.

The Supreme Being holding the vase frowned.

"Even a Sacred Spirit, naturally attuned to the Dao, cannot quell the causal chaos of the River of Time. Are you truly the First Sacred Spirit of later legends?"

"He is indeed the First Sacred Spirit you speak of."

Born beloved by all ten thousand Dao paths, the myriad Dao currents vied to draw near him, seeking his enlightenment—but he rejected them all, forging his own Dao, existing neither in past nor future, leaving only this present life.

As long as he does not emerge, he is invincible!"

The imperial shadow of Qin Shi Huang spoke coldly, still eternally standing firm at Hangu Pass.

Yet people clearly detected a hint of malicious delight in his voice, even suspecting Qin Shi Huang might have deliberately lured them to Hangu Pass.

But what was even more shocking was his evaluation.

All beings across all realms trembled in body and soul.

As long as he does not emerge, he is invincible!

"The First Sacred Spirit who can quell the causal chaos of the River of Time—could he be the Him we seek?"

There was not the slightest hesitation.

The Supreme Being descending from the dark lotus throne roared and slammed down a palm of annihilation.

Boom—!

The Supreme Being wielding the battle spear radiated supreme arrogance, believing himself invincible in heart and soul—he swept his spear across, severing the flow of time itself.

"I have crushed all heavens across three aeons—what have I not seen? Even if you quelled the causal chaos, you are no match for me!"

The man on the ancient war chariot hurled down a brilliant beam of light.

"Just the First Sacred Spirit of humanity!"

A demonic Supreme Being, whose vast wings stretched across the sky, transformed into countless swords capable of severing all things.

"Whether you are Him or not, slay you, and the truth will be revealed!"

The being with silver hair spoke no further words—he punched through the barriers of space-time and joined the seven in attacking.

People felt it: their target was now fixed—all of them were assaulting the First Sacred Spirit.

It seemed they themselves did not know who "He" was, intending to trace upstream along the River of Time to find Him.

This made it even more curious.

Not even knowing the identity or appearance of their target, the seven Supreme Beings still reversed the River of Time, risking the burden of temporal causality, just to kill a "Him" they did not know.

Who exactly is this "Him"? What did He do to draw seven Supreme Beings—who have never met Him—to come and kill Him?

The first to clash with the First Sacred Spirit was the one who had remained silent—now his entire body erupted with boundless darkness, the very essence of cosmic negativity, the primal darkness.

Too terrifying.

In his hand he held a pure black spear, stained with countless bloods, the resentment of all beings boiling upon it—endless faces of the dead, filled with hatred, too many, too vast, impossible to imagine how many he had slain across future ages.

Thick deathly aura formed a broken, dim yellow river—a vast torrent spanning multiple aeons, boiling with countless corpses floating within, their hollow eye sockets staring outward.

Yellow waters surged, dark yin energy rampant, even causing a tributary of the River of Time to become diseased, turning the yang world into yin land.

The heaven within that tributary had once been prosperous and glorious, producing countless prodigies, blessed with divine geography, a golden age of splendor.

But as the yellow waters and yin energy flooded into this tributary heaven, the brilliant age withered swiftly—prodigies fell on their paths to enlightenment, eternal pure lands dried up, celestial qi declined, the era entered the Final Dharma Age, and humans, gods, demons, and beasts all screamed in anguish.

This scene.

This moment.

People shuddered in horror, suddenly understanding what kind of being this Supreme Being truly was.

He was the darkness of an aeon, wielding dominion over countless heavens, dragging them from prosperity to aeon's end.

The End of Aeons, the Omen of Aeons.

"That… there seems to be an Earth there too."

The First Sacred Spirit and the seven Supreme Beings clashed high above a stretch of the River of Time, below which the River boiled—their battle altered and rewrote that entire aeon.

And that stretch of time was the mainstream, and it happened to involve Earth, the future of Earth.

The people of Earth felt the sorrow of the hunted for the hare.

Even though they might not live to see that future, it was still Earth — the Earth that bore them and raised them, the Earth of their descendants — being rewritten just like that.

"That is me…"

A supreme overlord who commanded reverence beneath the heavens suffered a shattering of his Dao heart, nearly collapsing.

He had actually seen his own face within that stretch of time, himself assailed by the wailing power of grievance, his body perishing and his Dao vanishing.

Feelings of being wronged, resentment, grievance, helplessness, and all manner of emotions swirled in his heart.

Clearly, at that time his strength had advanced once more, breaking through to yet another new height, his battle power unmatched by anyone in the era — yet he still died, accidentally caught in the aftershock of the battle between the First Holy Spirit and the seven supreme beings, annihilated on the spot, dying utterly and completely.

"That side is me…"

"My future…"

The Void Demon Realm, the Myriad Wastes Realm, and all other strange realms watching the River of Time fell silent — no matter how unwilling, no matter how grief-stricken and furious, what could they do?

This was the future, this was a battle of supreme beings; unless one reached that level, there was no way to change any of it.

They could only place their hopes in the First Holy Spirit, hoping he could defeat the seven supreme beings who came from "that side."

They hoped that, because of his mysophobia, the First Holy Spirit would dislike the River of Time being messed up and made broken and filthy, and would act to restore those damaged stretches of the River of Time to their original state.

He was a supreme being who had transcended time, possessing the ability to rewrite such things.
