Chapter 372: The Land Ruled by Ancient Babylonian Mythology
On the continent.
The land was scarred and grotesque, saturated with ominous deathly qi.
Mountains and rivers were either incomplete, shattered, or reduced to vast craters, faintly revealing that a majestic, towering peak had once stood here.
Vast forests lay in ruins, not a single ancient tree intact—burned by heavenly fire, withered and desolate.
Yet one could still discern how grand and sacred these ancient trees had once been; each one, in worlds like Yongxing, was a rare divine tree, coveted even by immortals.
Here, they grew in dense clusters like ordinary forests.
It was unimaginable how glorious this place had once been—even for gods and demons, it was a holy paradise.
People's gazes were not fixed on the continent's landscape, but fixed upon the cluster of palaces.
This continent held many palaces, scattered across countless lands, forming a vast expanse yet individually dispersed.
At the center of each palace stood a massive altar.
The altars soared into the clouds, radiating an ancient, weathered aura, as if they had existed for hundreds of millions of years; their surfaces were carved with primordial patterns—sun, moon, star rivers, primordial ferocious beasts, ancient ancestors, and deities, all instilling awe and dread.
"Through the eons of antiquity, gods ruled the world, myths rose and fell, yet only..."
A grand voice echoed across heaven and earth, solemn and reverent, faintly emanating from the altars—so thin and elusive, as if unheard unless one listened intently, barely real.
Following the altars, people turned their eyes to the palaces surrounding them.
The palace architecture was majestic yet suffused with deathly qi, faint black light flickering; clusters of palaces, all in ruins, as if built in the netherworld's demonic halls.
From within came wails and howls so chilling they made gods and demons shiver.
Countless people on Earth froze.
"Ancient Babylonian architecture!!!"
This was Ancient Babylonian architecture—they had seen it before, identical to the Ancient Babylonian structures in the Heavenly Eye World of the Tsukuyomi deity.
Wait!
If these are Ancient Babylonian structures, then this continent isn't just...
"This is the land once ruled by Ancient Babylonian Mythology!"
Kōsuke Mita had once asked Tsukuyomi and Luxi about Ancient Babylonian Mythology.
Why, among the four great ancient civilizations, had Ancient Babylonian Mythology never appeared?
Legend said Ancient Babylonian Mythology committed an unforgivable sin, provoking all gods to unite against it; major mythologies besieged Ancient Babylonian Mythology, and since then, it vanished from the world.
That massacre of Ancient Babylonian Mythology was etched in everyone's memory—after seeing the Ancient Babylonian palaces in Tsukuyomi's Heavenly Eye World, they had witnessed the scenes of Ancient Babylonian Mythology being besieged and annihilated by the other mythologies.
Each person saw different visions.
Yet without exception, all were terrifying battles of the siege against Ancient Babylonian Mythology.
Even the most powerful Chinese Mythology had joined the assault.
And to utterly eradicate Ancient Babylonian Mythology, leaving no chance of revival, all mythologies conquered the lands it once ruled—especially its territories in the Primordial Realm, which were shattered into many fragments.
These lands were sealed by the various mythologies.
Completely and utterly severed, eternally suppressed, never to rise again.
The continent before them was likely one of the lands once ruled by Ancient Babylonian Mythology.
Thinking of this, the world felt sorrow.
The lands ruled by Ancient Babylonian Mythology had each been sealed by a separate deity; now, one of these lands had broken free from the original battlefield.
And it came with the celestial weeping phenomenon, with fallen immortal beings spilling blood-red Tianhe from the sky.
Wasn't it clear that these fallen immortals were from the Primordial Realm's past?
Only the past side of the Primordial Realm had ever controlled the lands of Ancient Babylonian Mythology—the future side never did.
"Sigh."
Director Takahashi clenched his fist; in the end, the outcome he most dreaded had come to pass.
The past side's immortals had fallen.
This might further worsen the past side's dire situation.
Aaaoo!!
A piercing howl shattered the thoughts of Takahashi and countless others.
Instinctively turning toward the sound, Takahashi and the others nearly collapsed onto the ground in terror.
On the death-ridden land of Ancient Babylonian Mythology,
a cluster of palaces shimmered with swirling mist and light, emitting streaks of deathly radiance, thick with ill omen.
But people's attention was not on the palaces.
It focused on a vast lake beside a colossal palace, where numerous beastly birds and strange creatures, shrouded in deathly qi, prowled the shore—among them, ferocious beasts of terrifying power.
Calling them beastly birds and strange creatures was not metaphor—it was fact.
They had been beastly birds and strange creatures in life.
Now, they were wrapped in deathly qi, eyes bloodthirsty, devoid of all emotion except slaughter and hunger, utterly devoid of any life qi—they were clearly dead.
They looked like zombies.
But not as repulsive as zombies.
Gods, demons, immortals—all frowned, their expressions Solemn.
These beastly birds and strange creatures had been dead for countless eons—at least several million years; under the baptism of deathly qi in this land of death, their corpses had given birth to new life.
Corpses birthing new life, gaining sentience—this was not impossible.
In other worlds, including Yongxing, such records existed.
It was said that when an invincible being died, under specific conditions and with their body preserved from decay, their corpse might, after vast eons, give rise to new life and new sentience.
Such beings, once born, were invincible by sheer physical form alone—destined to be mighty.
This is another kind of reincarnation, another kind of rebirth.
Once, gods and demons sought this path to attain renewal, for not all gods and demons could achieve immortality—they had lifespans bound by limits, so they wished to survive, either by breaking through their realm or by forging a new path.
Thus, a corpse nurturing a new life was not an unsuitable method.
Unfortunately, the conditions for a god or demon's corpse to nurture a new life after death were too stringent: the corpse must remain uncorrupted.
Crucially, the new life born from the corpse was no longer the same as the god or demon who had once inhabited it, for the newborn lacked all memories of the corpse's past—it was an entirely new life, unrelated to the former god or demon.
Throughout history, there has scarcely ever been a case where a god or demon, after death and rebirth through this method, retained their former memories; even when memories lingered, they were fragmented and incomplete.
Even so, many gods and demons continued to pursue this path, desperate to gain rebirth through it.
Upon seeing this land of rare birds and strange beasts, the gods, demons, and immortals present were stirred, wishing to place their corpses here after death.
Yet…
They soon discovered that the rare birds, strange beasts, and ferocious beasts before them possessed no spiritual awareness—they had merely been born from prolonged exposure to death qi.
But because the land's death qi was too potent, saturated with destruction, hatred, ill omen, and other negative forces, the lives it nurtured could not develop spiritual awareness, only desires for destruction, hatred, and ill omen.
