Chapter 386: All of This Is a Scheme
Looking at the other boundless rays of light, those were Supreme beings like Emperor Shitian and Hanba.
The light that collided with them was equally powerful, its radiance piercing through heaven and earth, as if to illuminate all the myriad heavens.
Among them was a ray of light that seemed to illuminate even the passage of time itself, no weaker than Emperor Shitian or Cangjie.
This was not a friendly exchange!
Both sides had Supreme beings bearing wounds, their killing intent surging, each clash brimming with murderous force, none holding back in the slightest.
Boom!
The Supreme beings waged great war; the four directions of the firmament quaked, the eight corners of heaven and earth shook violently, the void of the ten directions crumbled and collapsed.
Too terrifying.
Especially those few Supremes like Cangjie and Emperor Shitian—any single gesture from any one of them was annihilation, the evolution of earth, wind, water, and fire, the clear qi rising, the turbid qi descending, the opening of chaos, a new world being conceived.
Cangjie held a writing brush in his hand, sketching with it, taking the heavens, earth, and starry sky as his canvas, inscribing symbols that resembled both characters and paintings.
With every stroke sketched and flung, worlds evolved within, vast lands stretching out, all things growing, sentient beings born, performing a magnificent and resplendent saga of worlds.
Those were not false worlds, but real ones.
He lifted his brush and swept it; a world was thus opened in its entirety, a complete world possessing all that a world should possess—earth, wind, water, fire, the great sun rising in the east and setting in the west, sentient beings living, aging, sickening, and dying.
With a few simple strokes, worlds one by one evolved and were conceived, composing a side of the myriad heavens, magnificent and overwhelming.
The world of the myriad heavens was formed!
His other hand spread its five fingers, and he pressed a palm forward, carrying the myriad heavens to meet his opponent.
The sight made the gathered gods, demons, immortals, and fiends tremble; their bodies shook uncontrollably.
This was plainly an attempt to crush the opponent with a side of the myriad heavens, to suppress and slay the foe with a world of the myriad heavens.
They were terrified, their minds receiving an unprecedented shock.
Compared to Supremes like Cangjie, the battles of these gods, demons, immortals, and fiends were utterly weak—indistinguishable from playing house.
When we fight, we blow up stars, blow up the void, turn the starry sky upside down, and crack worlds apart.
Now look at them…
They directly create a world—no, not a world, that's a side of the myriad heavens, even more magnificent than a world.
They create myriad heavens with bare hands, swinging a side of the myriad heavens as a weapon to smash.
"Don't you all feel that Cangjie's brush-stroke technique looks very familiar?"
Amidst the shock, someone vaguely felt that Cangjie's divine ability seemed familiar.
The next moment.
His face stiffened, and he nearly groaned aloud:
"Kamikawa Mitsu!"
He remembered— not long ago, when Kamikawa Mitsu dealt with the invading world gods, demons, immortals, and fiends, he used this very similar divine ability, sketching a portal with his brush that connected to some unknown place, sending the gods, demons, immortals, and fiends to their deaths.
His voice was heard by everyone around, and they were all surprised in unison.
"Kamikawa Mitsu truly is connected to Huaguo's mythology!" one person stated bluntly.
They had assumed Kamikawa Mitsu's divine ability was an onmyoji's technique—after all, onmyoji favored divine talisman methods, and divine talismans required the sketching of divine patterns.
But now it seemed this divine ability was not an onmyoji's technique, and very likely originated from Cangjie himself.
"Could Kamikawa Mitsu also be of the Yellow Emperor's lineage?"
That person posed a question.
No one answered him, because everyone was drawn to the unfolding scene of the ancient Babylonian mythological realm.
"Shamash, do you know the consequences of doing this!"
Cangjie gave a light rebuke, his voice like an angry dragon's chant, desolate across the nine heavens and ten lands, the myriad stars all trembling chaotically, echoing out for vast millions of miles.
If not for the Primordial World being vast enough—the oldest world first born in existence, its heavenly Dao resilient—any other world would have shattered from such a roar, even a great world of the myriad heavens.
Boom!!!
A side of the myriad heavens pressed down.
Vast and surging, the heavens themselves were suppressed; this firmament was splitting apart, deeply covered in cracks from being pressed down by a side of the myriad heavens.
That figure shrouded in divine light, like an eternal sun that never extinguished, burning forever, illuminating the myriad heavens of the primordial age.
He clamped his legs around his warhorse.
The horse's neigh split the nine heavens!
This sun-like figure rode his warhorse, charging straight to meet that side of the myriad heavens, and struck out with a fist.
The fist-shadow was like the great sun, blooming with endless divine radiance; this side of the myriad heavens instantly dissolved into bubbles of light beneath the bath of radiance, shattering into fragments, dust to dust, earth to earth, transforming into the warmth of the great sun.
This splitting firmament, amidst the light of the myriad heavens' destruction, seemed to flow backward in time, its cracks mending.
"Consequences? Laughable—what consequences? Becoming a pawn in a scheme and dying in the end! Cangjie, you've all been deceived, all the gods, demons, fiends, and buddhas have been deceived—all of this is a scheme!"
Shamash laughed loudly.
His laughter carried boundless desolation, and even deeper anger and unwillingness.
The Supremes' killing strikes paused, their brows furrowing.
"Shamash, what nonsense are you spouting?"
A Supreme from ancient Egyptian mythology roared angrily, not understanding his words, and then shouted:
"Don't fabricate excuses for your betrayal of the 'Past'—do you think we would believe it!"
Cangjie and Emperor Shitian said nothing.
But their attacks, still without restraint, spoke for themselves.
They did not believe what Shamash said, regarding it as wild talk, an excuse for his actions on behalf of ancient Babylonian mythology.
Having reached their level, how could they be shaken by a single sentence from an opponent? They possessed a heart-state unchanging through ten thousand ages.
Shamash paid no mind, battling Cangjie even as he spoke:
"Whether this is nonsense or an excuse, you'll find out later—but you won't live to see that day."
"Without escaping the game, all is in vain—past and future, supreme and highest, all struggle ends only in dressing another's wedding."
Boom!
Shamash's face twisted grotesquely, utterly devoid of the dignity befitting a Highest, as if possessed by madness.
The Highest's aura surged like the rising sun from the east, its light growing brighter, its divine power ever stronger.
At this moment,
Shamash's terror ascended to an unimaginable level.
Cangjie and the others grew solemn, their expressions shifting—not from Shamash's increased power, but from the change in his aura.
The Shamash before them was no longer the Shamash they knew.
"This is… the system of 'the other side'! Have you joined their mythology?!"
The Highest from Norse mythology glared in fury.
"Joined? What joining? My ancient Babylonian mythology has always been of 'the other side.'"
Shamash let out a bitter laugh, tears streaming down his face as he laughed.
There was desolation, despair, and also madness and sorrow.
At these words, mortals, gods, demons, immortals—all trembled violently; even Cangjie and the other Highest in the scene visibly shuddered.
Even the Highest could not maintain their composure; their hearts rippled with turmoil.
One of the Four Mythologies of the 'past,' a comrade who once fought side by side on the earliest battlefields to defend the children of the Primordial Realm—could ancient Babylonian mythology truly come from the 'future'? How could this be?
The world fell silent.
Gods, immortals, demons—all stood mute, unable to speak.
They were no fools; the bitter laugh displayed by Shamash, one of the Highest of ancient Babylonian mythology, was no performance—it was a laugh born of the soul.
Shamash glanced at Cangjie, Indra, and the others:
"After eons of battle, I finally realized I am of 'the other side.' All of it—everything—was merely a game. Cangjie, Indra, don't blame us for betraying the 'past.' We merely wished to escape the game."
The next moment,
He and the gods of ancient Babylonian mythology surged forward to overwhelm them.
