Chapter 460
Mysterious mist, at the end of the Bridge of the Other Shore.
Kamikawa Mitsu stood upon the Bridge of the Other Shore, gazing at the vast, boundless darkness of the Yin Earth before him.
"Hmm?"
His brow furrowed slightly, a strange expression crossing his face.
The last time he came to the Yin Earth world was with Aituo and the others, but Kamikawa Mitsu had borrowed their sight to witness the Yin Earth's scenery—as if he had come himself—and now, returning again, he noticed something different.
The Yin Earth's sky hung heavy, dark and oppressive, making one feel as if breath itself were stifled, as if the heavens stood on the brink of extinction, ready to sink, collapse, or shatter at any moment.
Compared to his previous visit, the sky was even more suffocating.
It was as if… the heavens had a lifespan, and now neared their final hour.
Yet upon closer observation, another illusion arose.
It felt as if the heavens were being swallowed—being… replaced!
Slowly sinking into darkness, gradually perishing, obscured and buried beneath something terrifying.
It was not only the sky that had changed.
Kamikawa Mitsu's gaze shifted to the endless expanse of the Yin Earth before him—even as an Immortal, he could not fully survey this boundless, unfathomable land.
Spears, broken halberds, and bronze swords shattered and cracked stood embedded in the earth; battle flags, soaked in blood, had lost all trace of their original colors, now crimson alone.
The flags were tattered, fluttering fiercely in the gloomy wind.
Skeletons and broken bones littered the mountains and plains, piled into hills; the Yin Earth cracked open, and from its fissures flowed scarlet blood, forming streams and rivers—grotesque and horrifying.
And in the distant expanse stood a city.
The ancient city was ruined, mostly collapsed, yet even its remaining fragments revealed its former grandeur.
Even from afar, its immense, ancient, and weathered aura could be felt; its walls were drenched in blood, as if poured over by the blood of countless gods and demons.
This was the scene he had seen last time.
Too many bones—human, humanoid, and monstrous beast skeletons—piled into mountains; dig up any mound of earth, and you'd find countless corpses, bearing witness, warning of some great event, some grave calamity that had occurred here.
Now,
the scenery had changed slightly.
Had it not been for Kamikawa Mitsu's vivid memory of this place, never fading, he might have mistaken this for the same scene.
The Yin Earth remained the same Yin Earth, the remains the same remains, the sight still horrifying, grotesque enough to make gods, demons, immortals, beasts, and Buddhas shudder down their spines.
But…
the blood had changed.
It had increased, turned deeper red…
The blood flowed, and the blood staining the flags was now dripping!
This was an ancient land, older than countless years; the great battle here, as revealed by the double-pupiled Immortal corpse he had obtained, had occurred at least a million years ago.
That blood was at least a million years old.
Even with the deathly nature of this Yin Earth preserving the blood from drying, even with rivers of blood flowing, the blood stained upon bones, flags, and especially the blood-drenched walls of the distant city had all long since hardened into stone!
Now, the blood seemed to have come alive.
Or rather, as if history were replaying, time flowing backward—the blood no longer looked ancient, but fresh, as if it had just flowed, just been spilled.
As if a horrific battle had just occurred here, with countless gods and demons slain, immortals and demons drenched in blood, Immortals roaring in fury.
Kamikawa Mitsu was certain he had not misremembered.
This Yin Earth was truly undergoing some change he did not understand.
"The blood has grown fresh—what of the bones…?"
Murmuring, Kamikawa Mitsu's brow tightened further.
It was not impossible—this was the Underworld, the Land of the Huang Quan, where life and death cycled here; for gods and demons slain upon this Yin Earth to resurrect was natural.
"Could it be that gods and demons chose to fight here because death here grants a chance of resurrection?"
As Kamikawa Mitsu pondered, his gaze idly flicked to the distant city:
"Or perhaps not resurrection—but something here is of critical importance, and that is why they fight for it?"
Whether due to changes in the Yin Earth's heavens or the blood's transformation, the Yin energy within the land had grown denser.
It surged toward the other side of the Bridge of the Other Shore; had it not been for the Huang Quan River, spanning heaven and earth with no known origin or end, blocking its path, the Yin energy would have spilled beyond this world, bursting through the mysterious mist.
The denser Yin energy subtly strained the terrifying waters of the Huang Quan River, as if they could no longer contain it.
If the Yin Earth continued changing, one day the Huang Quan River might no longer hold back the Yin energy—and it would burst free from the mysterious mist world.
"I must quickly uncover what is happening here."
The situation was more perilous than imagined; Kamikawa Mitsu could not afford delay.
Yet it was fortunate he had reached Immortality before coming—based on the current state of the Yin Earth, even Immortals and demons would perish without knowing how.
He stepped onto the Yin Earth beyond the Bridge of the Other Shore.
Kamikawa Mitsu immediately felt as if he had crossed into another world—like stepping from the Sahara Desert into the frozen, trembling Antarctic; every sense—sight, sound, and more—shifted violently.
The Yin Earth's ground surged with Yin energy.
Air and Yin energy mingled chaotically; merely standing there felt like facing a million Yin soldiers charging at him.
Divine radiance emanated from his body, encircling him, instantly repelling the Yin energy.
He picked up a few bone fragments.
"A god's third-step corpse, this one is a god's second-step corpse…"
After roughly judging the scattered bones, Kamikawa Mitsu paid them no further attention and headed toward the distant city.
Everywhere in the Yin Earth, rivers of blood flowed—it was all much the same.
The only significant difference was that distant city—so vast, so immense, it must hold something extraordinary.
For that ancient city, Kamikawa Mitsu had a vague suspicion.
Only by reaching that ancient city could he determine whether his suspicion was correct.
"Kill!"
Boom—boom—boom!
As he delved deeper, the environment remained the same—blood-drenched banners floating, yet sounds reached his ears.
Unlike the telepathic voices from the Two Star Lodges, this sound had no discernible source—it came from all directions.
The voices were clear, as if occurring right beside him, all around him.
Kamikawa Mitsu scanned the surroundings; the land was empty—no living person shouted nearby, not even a single living mosquito.
Listen closely.
The sound seemed to come from the distant past.
Long ago, here there had been battle cries, war shouts, shaking heaven and underworld, flooding sky and earth, echoing from that era into this one—heard now by Kamikawa Mitsu.
As an immortal being, Kamikawa Mitsu naturally discerned the truth of the sound, and his body trembled slightly.
It grew clearer, closer.
War cries shook heaven and earth, battle roars deafened the soul, the clash of war deafened the ears.
It was as if he stood right in the midst of it!
Wait.
Not only did he hear it—he felt the aura and vibrations of the great battle.
Unthinkable.
Kamikawa Mitsu was stunned.
Then…
The next instant.
He faintly saw scenes from the past.
No.
These were not scenes from the past, not memories imprinted upon this heaven and earth.
He had truly crossed through time here and witnessed the past!!!
