Chapter 27: Finally Found
There's a saying that goes: Heaven rewards the diligent.
As long as you keep pushing forward, success will come eventually.
And sure enough, after more than a week of tireless searching by Baichuan—
one day, he finally found a slumbering python in an underground cave beneath rocky soil.
The giant python's entire body surface was brown, with brown arrow-shaped markings on its head.
Its back was largely yellow, covered in irregular brown cloud-shaped blotches, and its belly was white.
On either side of the cloaca near the tail, a pair of vestigial claw-like remnants could faintly be seen.
Clearly, this was a Burmese Python — arguably the second-largest snake in the Python family by body size, with the Reticulated Python taking first place.
"Not easy at all, but I finally found you."
Baichuan gazed at the enormous python coiled into a disc shape before him and let out a soft sigh, his tone carrying both bitterness and delight.
He stared in astonishment at this giant python, marveling at how nature could produce such a magnificent creature.
Even though the python hadn't fully stretched out, Baichuan could already tell just how massive it was.
Its length easily exceeded his current 5.5 meters; he estimated its body length at roughly 7 meters, and its girth was astonishingly close to the waist size of a normal adult human.
Compared to it, Baichuan's build looked like a malnourished bean sprout — there was simply no comparison.
Saying that probably doesn't give you much of a real sense of it.
According to current reliable field measurements, a king cobra with a body length of 4.74 meters has a normal weight of only 16.5 kilograms — that is, 33 jin.
Yet Baichuan, currently 5.5 meters long and having evolved countless abilities, weighs an astonishing forty-plus kilograms.
But a seven-meter Burmese Python starts at 91 kilograms…
Comparing the two: 90 jin versus 182 jin.
It's roughly like comparing a 1.6-meter-tall girl weighing only 90 jin to a 1.8-meter-tall giant of a man weighing 182 jin.
It's literally Beauty and the Beast.
But today, such a powerful creature was about to become food for him, Baichuan.
One has to say that snakes, for all their power, are also terribly fragile.
A terrifying python like this — if it were still in normal condition and Baichuan encountered it, he would withdraw without a second thought.
He wouldn't even consider a head-on clash, because the risk was simply too great.
Even though he now possessed Electric Generation, against a python, once it coiled around him, discharging electricity would only make it constrict even tighter.
Much like that video from his past life of a crocodile and an Electric Eel perishing together — once bitten and constricted, the more you electrocute, the faster you die.
Because from the moment the shock hits, the other party simply cannot let go — same as how a person who gets electrocuted can't save themselves.
Of course, if he were fully prepared and ambushed it with his current strength, killing it would still be possible.
But again, the risk is too great; the payoff isn't worth the gamble.
"What a pity." Baichuan looked at this giant of a creature and chuckled softly in his heart. "No matter how strong you are, you still can't defy a snake's nature — now lying here, meekly awaiting death."
Seven full days of searching, and now the moment of harvest had finally arrived.
"Let you become the nourishment on my path to growth!"
Baichuan's eyes flashed with killing intent as he soundlessly drew close to the python's side, whispering in his heart.
The next moment, from the shadows, a pitch-black venomous snake slowly materialized out of the air.
Its deadly maw opened wide, razor-sharp fangs sprang out, then aimed straight at the seven-inch mark—
Strike!
The hard, razor-sharp fangs pierced into the flesh as easily as passing through tofu.
Golden, dangerous, lethal venom began to pour out rapidly, spreading through the python's body like a spider's web, crazily spreading everywhere.
At the same time, the terrifying claws beneath Baichuan weren't idle either — they shot out and dug deep into the flesh as easily as tearing through paper Membrane.
The next moment, a continuous "squelch, squelch" sound rang out without pause.
That was the sound of flesh being torn inch by inch by the sharp claws — horrifying yet oddly rhythmic.
With this assault, the slumbering python finally woke from the searing pain.
But this was the bitter cold of winter; its snake body, already slowed by the low temperature, had grown stiff and weak, and after such a long Time, it was utterly famished.
Ice-cold blood, a stiff powerless body torn open with wounds deep enough to reveal bone, plus the mixed venom already taking effect — neurotoxin suppressing its respiratory system, hemotoxin obstructing its blood vessels and heart.
What could it possibly do, dragging a body in this state?
Not to mention that the moment it woke, Baichuan released his jaws, gave a vicious tug with his claws to pull away from its body, and watched it intently from a distance.
In the end, it could only slowly die in agony.
To its dying moment, it never understood why, in such frigid weather, a fellow creature that looked so similar to it could be so full of life.
Unfortunately, it would never get the chance to find out.
After seeing the python completely dead, Baichuan waited in place for a while longer, picked up a few pebbles with his claws and tossed them to probe, then only slowly drew closer.
Once close, he first lashed out with a claw and released a burst of Electric Discharge; only after seeing it merely twitch like normal flesh meeting electricity did he relax.
Such a powerful creature — he had to be cautious.
But now, how was he going to bring this snake back to his own cave?
He thought it over, then simply decided to stay right here and leave once he'd eaten his fill.
Such a massive creature would feed him for several days; fortunately, in this weather, food wouldn't spoil or rot easily.
Once decided, Baichuan went to work with both claws, tearing off chunk after chunk of bloody snake flesh and swallowing it down.
This was his way of eating ever since he grew claws — the snake method of swallowing everything whole was too slow, and the feeding process was dangerous.
Nothing like now: tear off a piece, swallow a piece.
Should any unexpected event occur, he could immediately stop and respond.
Eating this way also makes it easier to digest, and the rate at which his points increase is quite a bit faster.
You could say it's very convenient.
But speaking of it, the bloody chunks of meat that he once found unbearable as a human — now looking at them, he felt not the slightest bit of discomfort, and even thought the texture was pretty good, eating them with great relish.
What does this count as?
Has the snake's body and instincts affected his own consciousness?
Baichuan wasn't sure, but it felt pretty good.
……
Over the next few days, Baichuan could be said to have lived an unusually comfortable life — a seven-meter-long giant python, the amount of meat on it was extraordinary.
And so much meat, thanks to the weather, didn't spoil easily, which allowed him to live without having to worry about food for the first time, and for the first time he had the leisure to go outside and look at the snowy scenery.
The "frenzied digestion" ability that had been paused for many days was activated once again, and this also caused the points, whose growth rate had slowed, to skyrocket once more.
But these comfortable days didn't last long — in just four days, this giant python completely vanished under Baichuan's frenzied devouring.
