Chapter 114: No Wonder They're Abyssal Demons, Their Drops Are Valuable

Jiang Chen had just stepped out when he sensed something was off outside.

The Bone Armor glittered, mingling with the smell of blood and roars, and Jiang Chen was plunged into a chaotic melee.

Several Abyssal Demon Dogs surrounded him, tearing at the bloodied flesh everywhere.

The Instance entrance had completely changed its appearance.

Remnants of limbs and severed arms littered the ground, and within sight Abyssal Demon Dogs were everywhere.

These Abyssal Demon Dogs encircled the wide area near the Instance entrance, engaging the Human Professionals who arrived here in a deadly duel.

The scene was bloodily brutal, too horrific to behold.

An icy line shot forward like lightning, resembling a long whip, and snatched away an Abyssal Demon Dog beside Jiang Chen.

Then a sharp arrow flew in, trailing a long tail, its power extraordinary.

The arrow struck the Abyssal Demon Dog, producing a massive explosion that blasted several nearby Abyssal Demon Dogs into the air.

"Young man, come quickly!"

A deep voice came, followed by a cold blade‑like flash that again sent an Abyssal Demon Dog flying.

Jiang Chen looked up and saw the Knight who had invited him into the Instance, along with his team.

After helping Jiang Chen break the encirclement, they had already arrived in front of him.

Upon discovering Jiang Chen at the Instance entrance under Abyssal Demon Dog attack, they rushed to rescue him without hesitation.

Jiang Chen had long noticed their presence, but he had been observing the battlefield's situation all along.

In fact, his Bone Armor provided defense, so there was no safety concern.

His overall attributes meant that even standing still while Abyssal Demon Dogs attacked would not harm him a bit.

What Jiang Chen didn't expect was that this Knight and his team would voluntarily come to his aid.

Now it seems that this

Knight and his team are very brave, unafraid of strong foes, truly good people.

Jiang Chen now has a good impression of him.

"Young man, stop spacing out."

The veteran Knight swiftly blocked the Abyssal Demon Dogs' assault, shielding Jiang Chen behind him.

Other members of the team immediately joined the fight: a mage, an Archer, a supporting Prophet, and an elder healer.

It was a standard Five-person Team setup, each playing to their strengths.

The elder healer glanced at Jiang Chen and reported, "He isn't injured."

The veteran Knight exhaled in relief, saying, "Good that he's unharmed."

"We'll block the Abyssal Demon Dogs for you; quickly use the Teleport Stone to return to the Fortress."

He immediately ordered Jiang Chen to retreat.

Jiang Chen couldn't help but ask, "What happened?"

The veteran Knight answered solemnly, "Those bastards in the Abyss released a swarm of Abyssal Demon Dogs, trapping us here."

His voice was filled with deep hatred toward the Abyss.

Jiang Chen pressed, "Then why didn't you retreat?"

Facing so many Abyssal Demon Dogs, they couldn't possibly kill them all.

Moreover, if they tried to leave, these Abyssal Demon Dogs couldn't stop them.

This team's strength was outstanding, equipment complete, combat skills superb.

Combined, they truly formed a powerful team.

At that moment the healer spoke, "Many people just emerged from the Instance and were attacked; caught off guard, several were bitten to death."

"So our kindhearted Team Leader refused to leave; he wants to rescue people."

The healer's tone carried a hint of teasing, yet she wasn't worried.

She didn't seem to regard these Abyssal Demon Dogs as

... in her eyes.

On her clothing was also a Military Badge, a white badge with five sparkling stars.

The rest of the team were the same.

They were all veterans, having slain many Abyssal monsters.

So they looked down on Abyssal Demon Dogs, the most worthless of beings.

Archer, mage, and Knight formed a combat circle, easily repelling the charging Abyssal Demon Dogs.

A wail echoed from afar; someone was injured.

A flash of light passed through the Archer's eyes as the Eagle Eye skill activated, revealing the situation.

"It's a Shadow Transformation Nation team; someone had a arm bitten off."

"An arm? No problem, it can grow back."

As long as they don't die, they can return and find a senior healer for Rebirth of the severed limb.

The key is not to die; missing arms or legs doesn't matter.

After the battle at Mermaid Island, Jiang Chen held little goodwill toward Shadow Transformation Nation.

At this point the Prophet used the Fubentan Tance Fu; the results showed the Instance was now empty.

The Knight's complexion shifted slightly, "We're preparing to break out."

The Prophet, without a word, began restoring status.

When the breakout occurs later, there may be no time to restore status.

Several of them were already ready for battle.

The healer sister glanced at Jiang Chen and said, "Why haven't you returned to the Fortress yet."

Jiang Chen chuckled lightly, "I still need to grind."

As his words faded, a cold wind swept by, and a horde of skeletons appeared before everyone.

The Skeleton Warrior immediately joined the battle, its great blade clanged against the Abyssal Demon Dog.

The Skeleton Mage also cast a spell.

Flames filled the sky, and ice spread across the ground.

A tornado hurled the Abyssal Demon Dog into the air, tearing it repeatedly.

Lightning bolts struck down, ripping the Abyssal Demon Dog's flesh open.

"What a Ghost!"

"Happening

What happened!"

The few who were preparing to break out were startled.

How did so many skeletons appear all of a sudden?

The Prophet, who was boosting a status, almost lost his breath, and his Skill was abruptly interrupted...

The Abyssal Demon Dog has no control skills.

In front of them, the Skeleton Warrior became a ruthless blade‑wielder, slashing down repeatedly, chopping the Abyssal Demon Dog to pieces.

Each Abyssal Demon Dog died a gruesome death on the spot.

The few stared at Jiang Chen in utter shock, unsure how to express themselves.

Apart from shock, there was only shock.

Against these skeletons, the Abyssal Demon Dog was no match.

Soon, a large area around them was cleared.

"Stand behind me."

Jiang Chen suddenly whispered.

"Why?"

The few were momentarily stunned, not understanding.

Jiang Chen said, "I'm about to use the Group Attack Skill, afraid I might hit you by mistake."

Only then did the few understand.

Jiang Chen appeared extremely mysterious in their eyes.

They moved to stand behind Jiang Chen.

Jiang Chen raised his hand and locked onto a corpse of an Abyssal Demon Dog.

Skill: Corpse Explosion!

An explosion sounded.

The ground trembled, and shattered corpses flew sideways.

The blast generated a fierce wind that blew through, whistling loudly.

Under the shocked gazes of the few, a vast area had been completely cleared.

It was littered with Abyssal Demon Dog corpses.

Then Jiang Chen walked forward, and the few hurriedly followed.

Every so often, Jiang Chen would use Corpse Explosion once.

The front line advanced rapidly.

A multitude of Abyssal Demon Dogs were slain, and the Military Badge on Jiang Chen's shoulder shone brightly.

When the number of Abyssal Demon Dog deaths reached 100, the first star appeared among them.

The Communicator on his wrist also vibrated in sync.

"Military Merit reached 1

00, promoted to One-Star Private, earned Thousand Points Reward, 5 Contribution Points."

Jiang Chen saw the information on the Communicator.

It turned out that killing Abyssal Demon Creatures and gaining Military Merit could not only raise one's rank.

It could also earn Shenlong University points and Contribution Points.

No wonder they said that to earn Contribution Points, one must come to the Alien Battlefield.

That's the reason, right here.

The purpose of Shenlong University is to train excellent professionals for the Human Race.

If excellent professionals don't come to the Alien Battlefield and don't kill Abyssal Demon Creatures, are they just staying for retirement?

A slight smile curled his lips; with 1,000 Contribution Points, it should be secured.

Abyssal Demon Creatures are a good thing, great value for the price.

They provide experience, material items, plus Military Merit, points, and Contribution Points.

Nothing is lacking.

Jiang Chen thought that after completing the Hong Jishi mission, he would just go kill Abyssal Demon Creatures.

Such a good thing, it'd be a pity not to kill them.

Continuing to use Corpse Explosion, each blast meant a large number of Abyssal Demon Dogs were blown up.

In just a few minutes, Jiang Chen earned 100 Military Merit.

The Military Badge kept glowing, and another star appeared on it.

Jiang Chen's military rank became Two-Star Private.

The Communicator also trembled briefly.

"Military merit reached 200, promotion to Two-Star Private, awarded Thousand Points Reward, 5 Contribution Points—raising rank is hard for others, but too easy for Jiang Chen.

The Abyssal Demon Dogs surrounding the Instance have already been cleared by Jiang Chen single‑handedly by two‑thirds.

The remaining ones are still besieging the various Human Race squads.

Jiang Chen can no longer conveniently use Corpse Explosion.

The Skill's power is great, but it too easily causes friendly fire.

It's not friendly fire, very easy

to become a miskill.

Skeleton Warrior charged forward, hacking the dogs like meat, killing them one by one; the efficiency wasn't low at all.

Soon the Abyssal Demon Dogs were wiped out cleanly.

Military merit reached 272, still a bit short of Three-Star.

A full 242 Abyssal Demon Dogs fell by Jiang Chen's hand.

When the battle ended, many people collapsed onto the ground.

"Great, finally rescued."

"How did so many Abyssal Demon Dogs appear? Could the Abyss be launching a massive offensive again?"

"You're overthinking; it's just because there are too many wild dogs like that in the Abyss."

"A battle like this surely isn't limited to our location; there must be many more in the Alien Battlefield."

"I think the troops inside the Fortress might act. Otherwise the Alien Battlefield is too dangerous, practically impassable."

"Stop overthinking; treat the wounded, and those who should return, return."

Some people were injured, missing arms and broken legs.

They quickly used Teleport Stones to go back, seeking healers to treat their injuries.

The earlier the treatment, the better the effect.

Jiang Chen retrieved the Skeleton, and importantly walked back to the front of the Instance.

The Knight approached Jiang Chen with a smile: "Kid, introduce yourself. I'm Wu Lingdong, Holy Knight, Level 31, from Shenlong University."

Jiang Chen said softly: "Jiang Chen, Level 23, Necromancer Summoner, from Shenlong University."

Upon hearing they were from the same school, Wu Lingdong's smile widened: "So you're a junior, huh? Which cohort are you from?"

Jiang Chen glanced at the time; it was already past midnight.

"This cohort, we just finished the opening ceremony yesterday."

What!

His Shield slipped from his hand onto the ground with a clang.

Then his mouth opened wide

, wide enough to swallow an egg.
