Chapter 724

"Lord Gao, please stay. I have a pair of mandarin duck jades that I specially present to you as a gift for your capping ceremony."

At the Duke of Ding's Prefecture, after all the guests had left, just as Gao Yang wanted to check the spoils of the day, the voice of Yan Wushuang rang out from behind him.

"Prince of Yan, look at you, it would have been enough for you to come yourself; why bring gifts? Given our relationship, this is too formal!"

Gao Yang turned back, his gaze falling on the mandarin duck jade pendant in Yan Wushuang's hand, which looked to be of excellent color.

Yan Wushuang said with a forced smile, "Lord Gao, it is precisely because our relationship is deep that I could not come empty-handed. That would be too rude!"

"A small gift, not much of a tribute, but Lord Gao must accept it!"

"Since the Prince of Yan is so polite, then I shall not decline."

"Lord Gao, this form of address is too formal. The Prince of Yan is older than me; just call me 'Brother Gao' or 'Wenhe' will do."

As Gao Yang took the jade pendant from Yan Wushuang's hand and felt its texture, a smile appeared on his face.

Yan Wushuang stared at Gao Yang, the corner of his mouth twitching. These words sounded very pleasant, but his hand movements were not slow at all.

But Yan Wushuang also knew Gao Yang's character, so he wasn't entirely surprised.

"Brother Wenhe, I have come this time not only to congratulate you on your capping ceremony but also to bid farewell."

"Oh? Is the Prince of Yan returning to Great Yan so soon?" Gao Yang looked surprised.

"The gift for this time has already been presented to His Majesty. It is getting late, and I should return, but for your capping ceremony, I naturally had to come and celebrate."

Yan Wushuang laughed heartily and then spoke.

"Then I must see the Prince of Yan off." Gao Yang said with a solemn face.

Watching Gao Yang, who refused to talk about the Green Seedling Law, Yan Wushuang only wanted to curse in his heart.

This mandarin duck jade pendant was worth a lot, but clearly, it hadn't played the role it should have.

"Lord Gao, I have come this time also for the matter at the Rouge Pavilion that we didn't finish discussing. I have gathered the silver and ordered my servants to carry it into the Duke of Ding's Prefecture. I hope Lord Gao can provide some guidance!"

Yan Wushuang spoke, staring straight at Gao Yang.

Upon hearing this, Gao Yang clapped his hands and said, "Look at my memory. The Prince of Yan is so polite, sending the mandarin duck jade pendant; for a mere Green Seedling Law, how could I still accept your silver?"

"Prince of Yan, please come inside; I must serve you a cup of good tea!"

While speaking, Gao Yang called Green Radish to make tea and whispered into her ear.

Yan Wushuang's mouth twitched.

Gao Yang had forgotten? He didn't believe even half a word of that.

And this Green Radish must have gone to check the silver, perhaps even to confirm its authenticity.

Yan Wushuang followed Gao Yang into the small courtyard and chatted about everything under the sun until Green Radish walked into the courtyard and stood by Gao Yang's side.

Only then did Gao Yang smile and say, "Prince of Yan, actually, the Green Seedling Law is not difficult to curb land annexation. Its root cause is that commoners borrow land from aristocratic families and eventually cannot repay, leading to the annexation of the farmers' land, ultimately forming a vicious cycle."

"The Green Seedling Law is for the imperial court to participate, setting a lower interest rate. In this way, commoners can get through the difficult days without grain, and the court can also collect some interest."

"In this way, land annexation can be greatly curbed, a win-win for both the commoners and the court."

As these words fell, Yan Wushuang's eyes suddenly lit up.

"Wonderful!"

"This Green Seedling Law is exquisite. In this way, it not only greatly curbs land annexation and relieves the pressure on the commoners but also gives the court an extra source of revenue!"

"Truly killing three birds with one stone!"

Yan Wushuang exclaimed in admiration, somewhat excited. Yuan Xuanlin, behind him, also pondered secretly, occasionally glancing at Gao Yang.

This method is indeed exquisite!

A smile appeared on Gao Yang's face, but he did not speak.

This is the deceptive nature of the Green Seedling Law!
