Chapter 208

~12 min read 2,289 words

"Priest Mr., was that just a dream?" Dairek sat stiffly on the bench, gazing at a white orchid in the flowerbed, lost in sorrow, still unable to emerge from that moment of "reunion."

"Dairek, eat well." The words of his parents were firmly etched in his mind; the lingering warmth of their embrace still clung to his cheeks.

"That miracle was fleeting—miracles can last only a moment," Su Lin said, looking at the three half-gods from the Silver City.

Adam used Dairek and the other two as anchors, summoning from the ocean of humanity's collective unconscious the personalities of the vanished Silver City residents; in that instant, they were real, thinking, feeling, speaking exactly as they once had.

"Was this miracle granted by the Fool Mr.?" Colin Iliat asked, his voice even more hoarse than before.

"This miracle arose because of the Fool Mr.," Su Lin replied truthfully, saying nothing false.

Dairek wiped the tear tracks from his eyes and asked Su Lin, "Are you heading to the Land of the God-Forsaken? Can we help?"

Su Lin gazed toward the endless sky above the Spirit Realm, perceiving subtle changes through the status of the God of Light—the gray mist no longer lay as still as a dead sea.

"What comes next cannot be aided by any being of Archangel rank—don't regret it." Su Lin turned and dissolved into countless light elements, leaving only his words echoing around him: "Wait, and hold onto hope."

The next moment, Su Lin appeared outside the ruins of the Divine War, sighing.

"Even so, the other side has no idea how to play this game."

The Fallen Mother Goddess is now descending with her primordial will; the True Creator is barely holding out; Senior Zhongli is sealed within himself. If both are corrupted, entering afterward will be nearly impossible to survive."

Other true gods cannot influence the Land of the God-Forsaken; their physical forms cannot descend to seal the breach."

The only one who can affect the Land of the God-Forsaken—Night—is currently digesting the uniqueness of the God of War."

Su Lin glanced at the items in his backpack—only one, the unknown-effect "Fusion Evolution Device," could be used, with the trait "Ultimate Evolution."

How can you not have a detailed manual?

It'd be better to rely on Lu Mingfei going berserk inside and having some old master possess him for a dragon-empowered rampage.

Of course, he is a dragon to begin with.

He browsed the store—if the other side had already equipped divine gear upon entry, he'd directly exchange a purification item for Senior Zhongli and flee temporarily with Miss Kelaien.

First, check the price of items that can cleanse high-level chaotic creature contamination.

【Pure Light Writing Brush】: 370,000

【Sacred Spring of the Spirit Realm】: 410,000

【Praise of the God of Order】: 550,000

【Wangchuan Return-to-Origin Pill】: 630,000

Hmm.

Screech!

Su Lin ignited a light sword in his hand, his gaze resolute as he stared ahead—he decided to take up the blade himself, even if the other side was fully geared with divine armor!

Amon's avatar glanced at his original form, his mouth stretching into an exaggerated grin as he adjusted his monocle.

"Is this the latest vote result? You've decided to become women?"

"If I were there, I'd vote against it—you've even altered your spiritual form. Just hand me the uniqueness; I wouldn't mind having another sister."

The original before him was utterly different from his past appearance.

A curl of hair nearly obscured his right eye; his long black hair fell naturally down his back like a black waterfall, his nose high and straight, his face slender, entirely cloaked in a black classical robe, radiating an intellectual beauty.

Amon's original form pinched his monocle, unconcerned.

"It's nothing—compared to parasitizing a woman, this is merely personally experiencing an incarnation."

"But you—I thought you'd been purged, yet you've become an independent entity."

"Perfect. You've avoided influence—we can exploit a loophole through exchange and restore normalcy."

Amon's avatar nodded and said:

"Normally, yes—that's how it should be. But I hereby initiate a vote to reject the original's demand."

Countless avatars launched voting actions; seconds later, the Amon referendum concluded.

Amon's original form fell silent for a long moment, clicked his tongue, and said:

"Next time, I'll exile you to the polar wastes."

Amon's avatar chuckled, sharing his memories with the original.

"This power is unique—it can be utilized," said Amon's avatar. "He has agreed to let me share this power with you."

"On the condition that we provide certain assistance."

"The God of Light," Amon's original form adjusted his monocle, "Interesting."

Land of the God-Forsaken

The crimson full moon now had a small portion devoured by darkness; the crescent and the crimson moon hung together above this forsaken land.

Monsters wandering in the darkness of the Land of the God-Forsaken converged into a stream, heading toward the once-mighty Giant Wang Ting.

They moved as if on pilgrimage, as if returning home, orderly and silent in the dark.

Some of these monsters were once humans, transformed by mutation and corruption into creatures lurking in darkness, preying on the living; their spiritual bodies had dissolved, leaving only their shells as vessels of transcendent power, driven solely by madness and consumption.

Others were born naturally from the darkness—these monsters' bodies were plants, insects, even stones; desolation, distortion, corruption, and life itself—all were within the Fallen Mother Goddess's dominion; she could twist any existing thing into a corrupted, twisted life.

This land was once a mighty continent, with over a hundred million people in its prime; now, only about ten city-states remain.

The primary cause of the Land of the God-Forsaken's decline was not the Divine War, but the corruption of the Fallen Mother Goddess—this corruption forced most to perish or become monsters, leaving only a few clinging to life.

These monsters divided into three groups.

Most rushed toward the bottomless cliffs and leapt down, their flesh exploding mid-air, scattering into the unfathomable dark abyss; gradually, the crimson stains spread, from scattered specks into rivers of red.

Within the abyss, occasional gales howled, occasional thunder raged—as if something from the depths was about to emerge, and these flesh fragments, charged with dark power, sought to block it.

Another group walked toward a mass resembling a mountain, covered in all manner of reproductive organs, spewing black mist; as they neared the fleshy mountain, they turned into red light and were absorbed; the more monsters it consumed, the larger the fleshy mountain grew.

The fleshy mountain emitted incomprehensible mutterings; crimson mist mingled with black tides surged from its body—one stream flowed toward the abyss beside the cliff, the other wrapped around and pounded the barrier deep within the Giant Wang Ting.

Within the barrier, countless golden magical runes had been stained with a rippling crimson hue; upon the black iron Wang Zuo, Senior Zhongli still slept, his brow furrowed as if trapped in a nightmare.

Amon, however, showed no sign of corruption; he summoned two avatars to pass the time with Tarot divination, transferring the influence he received through the loophole onto Senior Zhongli.

This being has selfish motives, but if It is corrupted, It may collude with the Fallen Mother Goddess to reclaim the Profane Tablet, and then no one will be able to escape.

It would be better to see how long this unknown deity can hold out.

It adjusted its monocle and drew a card from the laid-out Tarot deck—the Moon.

"Heh." Amon smiled and resumed studying new vulnerabilities.

The final group of monsters was unique—they had all been transformed from transcendents over the past several millennia. These powerful monsters appeared to be praying or offering sacrifices; after assuming bizarre postures, they dissolved into shadows and seeped into the earth, flowing toward a certain direction deep within the God-Forsaken Land.

Deep within the God-Forsaken Land, atop a mountain peak, stood a colossal cross existing between reality and illusion.

There, a blurred figure hung upside down, pierced through the body by multiple ancient wooden stakes, drenched in blood that still flowed but did not drip.

It was the True Creator, the human aspect of the Ancient Sun God.

At this moment, It was struggling desperately against the encroachment of darkness. Originally, the True Creator possessed the Authority of Corruption and Flesh Magic—the Authority of Corruption could be used both positively and negatively to weaken the corruption in the God-Forsaken Land, and Its Flesh Magic could effectively resist the distortions of the Fallen Mother Goddess.

But now, It could not.

Among the forces gathered here through sacrifice remained the Original Will, and these wills were resonating with the Original Will within Itself, slowly awakening the Original Will inside It.

The long night stretched like an endless sea; the crimson moon turned black.

Under the influence of the Fallen Mother Goddess and the revival of the Original Will, distortions within the God-Forsaken Land were steadily accumulating.

Monsters continuously appeared out of nowhere from the darkness; the residents of Silver City were on edge, uncertain whether the city's "Proof of Glory" could withstand so many monsters.

The Giant Wang Ting underwent a transformation; the exploration team lost contact. Now, even more monsters had appeared around Silver City. Though they merely moved toward a single direction without intending to assault the city, the fact that these monsters no longer feared light was far from good news.

Suddenly, they saw a beam of light pierce the horizon far to the east, illuminating the entire desolate land.

It was a light they, generations of inhabitants of the God-Forsaken Land, had never seen before—not the "light" that appeared when Darik ascended. This light's source resembled the sun described in myth, and its posture—cutting through darkness, shining across the distant horizon—resembled—Dawn!

Ding!

Ding!

Ding!

The bell tolls echoed one by one, as if the Redemption Bell of Heaven had been struck.

Countless white rays bent and twisted, weaving and entwining into a towering, pure white giant tree.

The tree swayed its branches, splitting open and tilting to either side.

At the split, space warped, and a vibrant, emerald Wild World bordered the wasteland of the God-Forsaken Land; its sky split in two—one half a blue daytime, the other a star-strewn night.

Celestial music sounded—a language never before heard—as if "Light" hummed a lullaby. Clear, ethereal tones echoed, and the element of light surged like a tide toward all eight directions.

Hummm—

Amid the vibration of some object, pure white light surged forward like a tsunami, sweeping in from the other side of the sky.

Only when the massive wave neared Silver City did they realize it was no wave at all—it was countless swords forged from light!

They blanketed the earth, densely covering every corner!

The light faded; the people of Silver City opened their eyes to find every monster in the wasteland pierced by multiple light swords. These blades, along with the monsters' bodies, gradually shattered into dust.

At that moment, a fiery figure clad in armor, with a pair of pure white wings on its back, arrived at the gates of Silver City, wielding a longsword.

Like an angel from legend, he stood poised in the void, sword in hand.

"By the order of the Yuzhe: The Divine War is about to begin! All of you, follow me immediately to the outside world!"

The voice was emotionless, cold and rigid—but to the people of Silver City, it was the most beautiful sound they had ever heard since birth.

"There's no time to take all these sealed artifacts! And we can't collect the transcendental traits of so many monsters!" Kleen's mutter echoed outside the grand palace of the Giant Wang Ting.

Based on the vision transmitted by the spirit insects left behind on the Source Fortress, Kleen felt his heart was bleeding.

These were all future treasures of the Yuzhe Sect—if not for the Fallen Mother Goddess, he would already possess half the wealth of a true divine sect.

Even a Sequence 9 transcendental trait could sell for hundreds of gold pounds on the black market—priced beyond reach!

He stopped observing the evacuating civilians in the city-states below and turned his gaze to Su Lin. According to plan, he would first meet up with Lu Ming and Lu Mingfei, then attempt to rescue Senior Zhongli.

Even as a Sequence Two, now master of the Source Fortress, he still could not manifest divine-level power in reality—he could only influence reality through the Source Fortress, using the rank and strength of an Angelic King.

But that was not the key. At Sequence Two, he could attempt to use the Source Fortress to suppress the corruption within Senior Zhongli.

Unlike Rosell, whose entire body had become the shape of the Fallen Mother Goddess, Senior Zhongli's corruption mostly originated from the Original Will.

Moreover, the Fallen Mother Goddess was now severely damaged. If the accumulated corruption was not excessive, Kleen could attempt to exert influence through the Source Fortress, while Amon amplified that influence to try and purge it.

Provided Amon truly kept his promise.

More importantly—

Kleen took a deep breath, stepping his historical projection out of the Historical Mist into reality, his eyes vacant as he stared at the mountain-sized mass of flesh, openly exposing the aura of the Source Fortress.

For this operation, he was the bait.

The moment Kleen revealed his aura, the mass reacted violently—a tattered crimson robe descended into the mist, and the mass transformed into a colossal hand that swiftly reached for Kleen.

At that moment, Su Lin with six wings flew in from the horizon; the flesh-formed giant hand and the tattered crimson robe visibly trembled—but immediately reacted.

It abandoned capturing Kleen and instead relocated itself to the cliff's edge!
